  1. Good question as time is now up. My guess would be no as otherwise I am sure we would have heard something about it.
  2. Mmmm, a source inside the club who claims to knows the inner workings of the negotiations but does not know what day the salaries are due to be paid? Surely an insider would know if payments are due on a Sunday which day of the week they would generally pay them on?
  3. Knowing them probably will be Kim Jong-il
  4. only if paid in advance!
  5. As long as they can afford his wages. Think people often forget that both selling club, buying club AND THE PLAYER have to agree to a deal (c.f. Nugent wanting to stay on loan, ostensibly to keep his options open but also one would guess due to their wage cap). If some of these valuable players are on ridiculous salaries then they could take some persuading to move. + assuming all your outgoings I would say you need somewhere near 20M to keep you going till after the 10th Feb (HMRC, Wages, Remainder of loan to Portpin against TV money, Gady's £9M, £2M for watford, £1.7M for campbell, etc)
  6. I suspect their plan is to get as many half decent players in on loan or free's as they can so they can sell the few players they have who are worth anything. This would give them more chance of getting to the end of the season without going bust, but not by much.
  7. Well if its right it would be SO SO funny.
  8. There were going to issue one but apparently there was a processing error and it will not now be out till tomorrow, honest.
  9. So I wonder how many chargeholders are out there? Portpin, by the sounds of it loaned against the TV money which they obviously did not get. Is gady's £9M secured against anything I wonder?
  10. A question for those who know more about these things. Given they are under a winding up order at the moment exactly who can put them put into administration and how easy is to do? i.e. what sort of tightrope are they walking in terms of how much control they have of avoiding administration?
  11. Agree with the likely attack of the lawyers scenario. You can bet as soon as the window closes they will not pay what they owe to other clubs such as Watford who are due a payment soon. But by then the window will have closed so it will make no difference.
  12. If so they would have to have done a deal portpin as they were trying to get the full 7M out of the PL so one would assume their most recent loan is secured again the TV money.
  13. I expect they will come up with a line like.. "Though we are worried about the ongoing financial situation at portsmouth they have complied with letter of the regulations and as such we have no option but to remove the embargo"
  14. So much for the PL wanting assurances they can meet their other commitments for the rest of the season then.
  15. Its interesting that a few weeks ago the PL where all for having Pompey show they could meet future payments before lifting the embargo but that appears not to be mentioned now with pompey saying once they have sorted a deal with udinese that it should be lifted? Suspect the PL are running scared of a legal challenge as possibly adding that sort of constraint is beyond their rules?
  16. Possibly because he really really wants to own a premiership club and pompey are the only ones desperate enough to accept him as an owner?
  17. Obviously not a portsmouth fan but I would guess because there is a real risk of liquidation and when that happens it may not be possible to bring the club back at its current level. Also if he is not worried about the money he can come in now with no administration penalty and they could possibly stay up. Wait till admin and it would be cheaper in the short term but if you are buying it as a status symbol you don't want one that will have to languish in the FL for a season. The hidden kicker, as I have said before, is possibly the court cases as if any of those result in the PL docking the club points then it rather neglects the buy now to try and avoid relegation option.
  18. More importantly how good a striker is he and will our defence be able to cope with him during the cup match? Checking his wikipedia entry he's not cup tied and as he will also probably be manager by then I see no reason why he would not play himself up front.
  19. As I see it only 3 sorts of people try and buy premiership club (bar the one off for money laundering). 1) Rich long time fans. Buy it based on a long held dream. 2) Someone out to make a profit. As per the glazers, buy with a big loan, pay selves millions in fees while club slowly gets dragged down. 3) A Trophy club, as per Man C and Chelsea. Bought as a rich mans play thing. If pompey had a rich enough fan you would have thought they would have made themselves known by now. The lack of anything of value to raise credit against and the poor credit rating that pompey must have makes 2 unlikely so I think the only real chance they have of surviving is 3 where the buyer will be well aware they are going to have to put in a lot of money that they will almost certainly not get back. In these cases unfortunately rational argument about what little (besides the debts) they would be getting have less force.
  20. j) the annoying 'superfan' that everyone is embarrassed about.
  21. If this is true why all this fuss about arranging installments with Udinese to get the embargo lifted?
  22. Check out his wikipedia page.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Saadi_al-Gaddafi#Personal
  23. But then you probably still believe in the tooth fairy.
  24. I did not realise he was a pundit, I thought he was just on there for comic effect!
  25. Guess what folks. Its moved again! This story dated around lunchtime I believe. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/frattonlatest/Pompey-set-to-cash-in.6010618.jp insisting the transfer embargo will be lifted within the next 24 hours. ... but then goes on to say.... 'We have continued to work hard on this issue and conceivably it could happen in the next 24 hours. In other news portsmouth have said that their money troubles will be over once they get to the end of the rainbow where a leprechaun with a pot of gold will give them a short term loan. This might happen in the next 24 hours said a club source with his fingers crossed behind his back.
