I had a look to see what our best run of the season has been. It is 3 matches unbeaten, a win and two draws. On two other occasions, we’ve gone 2 matches unbeaten. We could make that three occasions if we go unbeaten tonight. We really have been shockingly shit all season.

JWP was hardly a bad shout, he started nearly half of all league games that season and had another 18 league appearances as a sub. Playing the likes of Kelvin, Yoshida, Hooiveld and Guly was poor but that side still had Clyne, Shaw, Lallana, Lambert, S Davis and Wanyama in it. Plus Morgan and JRod came on as subs after an hour. It was a shocker to play a weakened team but a reserve team it absolutely was not.

I read up a bit about it, it seems we offered £1.5m and that was turned down, Everton wanted £5m. Can’t find a definitive fee but looks like around £4m. Which is a lot.
