Ruben has got his work cut out with his half time talk. This has been dreadful.

It’s all a bit scrappy and nervous at the moment. Some nice patches but not enough, mostly we’re a bit skittish.

Our midfield is non existent at the moment. Poor start.

Selles mentioned them as out injured in his press conference. He said Salisu was back and had a chance to play.

Predictably the same line up to Chelsea. Come on Saints, same type of first half performance please, same result would be amazing.

Interesting presser. Sounds like we maybe won’t be far off having the same starting line up as we did for Chelsea, Salisu back but IMo will only make the bench. I think he may even keep AMN in there as he had some very kind words about him specifically after the Chelsea game, although I hope KWP gets the nod.

I’m not buying it. MLG lacks the nuance to pretend to post as anything but himself. His Twitter account is the same as here, just an unnecessarily argumentative man child. TWar I reckon definitely posts as someone else on here these days, but not as Bad Wolf Imo. TWar was incessant in here then suddenly just stopped posting, so I’m going with a theory that he always had another account or he started a new one. Don’t think he’d have just walked away, even though he got called out for being nowhere near as clever as he thought he was (Athe Alphonso Davies debacle was complete comedy gold). Bad Wolf, I think he’s just someone who has been posting on here for years, he used to have a different user name but changed the name while keeping the same account, don’t think that dude is hiding anything. Just my opinion of course.

Well, we all know that at least one of those is still here, Chef Jamie can’t disguise his relentless bellendery in anything. Bear was good value indeed. Alpine just seemed very unhappy in life. It seems like you don’t either. Saints’ history started with a sash, then quarters, then red and white halves. Then we had nearly all of the 80s where we didn’t wear “traditional” stripes. I get it, you’re a stripe fetishist. Fair enough. A lot of other fans like it when we mix it up a bit. Stripes every year gets flipping boring. As Barcelona have shown it’s perfectly possible to deviate away from stripes on a regular basis and not lose any sort of identity. This years kit is dreadful though (although looked at its best against Chelsea as it was with white shorts and black socks and very similar to the first ever sash kit in 1885).

Yep, you’re right. Officially they come up as “sold out” but that can’t be true. Also a large block at Itchen centre which is the same.

Are people saying to give it to him full time? Even Selles himself has said that he’s happy with it until the end of the season, which seems like the right choice to me, it’s getting too late to get anyone else decent in. As to your question, the board approached Jones in the summer didn’t they? So he’s been on their radar for some time. Selles said in his presser that he wanted the job after Ralph, so I guess he was just overlooked.

The thing that struck me was, when Selles talks, players listen and look him in the eye. Compare that to the video of Jones ranting and rambling on the training field in Spain and not one player seemed to be paying any notice to him. I say make him manager to the end of the season with the option to review.

Agreed, I made a comment on it during the game on the match thread. The white shorts and black socks work much better with the home shirt. Would be better to keep it.

Ralph seemed burnt out at the end of last season. Then, in pre-season, the club made a number of transfers that looked like Ralph had minimal input with, and they forced him to recruit a coach that they had to approve. There was also the disaster of switching to 3 CBs during pre-season, who knows where that came from. It was fairly clear that Ralph was dialling it in from then onwards, he likely knew he was a dead man walking and probably didn’t mind the idea of walking away with a decent pay off.

I don’t disagree, but Selles was very engaged with Carl Martin on the sideline yesterday, so he’s not on his own. But yes, if Selles is to be the man he deserves a chance to shape his own team around him.
