I see Andrew Bridgen has been formally booted out of his party for his tweeted comments on covid / the holocaust. Looking forward to a good old robust defence of him from SWF’s moral guardian. Although likely not as Bridgen was a Tory (he was also a fucking idiot). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-65402195

JWP was hardly a bad shout, he started nearly half of all league games that season and had another 18 league appearances as a sub. Playing the likes of Kelvin, Yoshida, Hooiveld and Guly was poor but that side still had Clyne, Shaw, Lallana, Lambert, S Davis and Wanyama in it. Plus Morgan and JRod came on as subs after an hour. It was a shocker to play a weakened team but a reserve team it absolutely was not.

Yeah, it’s the hope that kills you. Glad I’m not the only one 🤣

@Holmes_and_Watson that’s a great rebuttal and full of sense. Very well put. Sadly, much of the time soggy is too thick-skulled and thin-skinned to admit that he’s wrong about certain things he’s written, but you’ve got that summary spot on regardless.

Starmer will be delighted to get rid of her, he’s probably been waiting for her to fuck up so that he can bin her off and lose the old Corbyn / Abbott associations. Not surprised it happened quickly, they’ll have had a plan in place to do just that when dopey Diane misspeaks.

I read up a bit about it, it seems we offered £1.5m and that was turned down, Everton wanted £5m. Can’t find a definitive fee but looks like around £4m. Which is a lot.
-
The only hope that I have for that is that he’s only 20 and he joined us in January when our relegation looked pretty likely. So it’s not as if it’s a shock that we’ve gone down. Arsenal away reinforced the fact that he’s good enough at PL level, it’s just whether he’s factored in a potential drop down a division. At such a young age I’m hopeful but not confident.
-
Yep, 12 games that season after going there at the end of the January window. As a CM I only see him as a passenger. He just doesn’t do enough, he likes to look involved but often just gets the ball and plays an early pass back to the defenders. Lavia is top quality but you can see that he looks to play on the turn and to break the lines. AMN offers very little of that. He’s better at full back but even still I’d rate him well below Tino.
-
Will he? He’s hardly made an impact at a club that’s likely to finish bottom of the league; he’s started 11 league games this season. I can’t imagine he’s cheap either. His agent will have done very well if he gets him another PL gig. As said, we have at least Tino and Bree at RB, and AMN certainly isn’t an effective centre midfielder. It’s a no from me.

There’s been more than a few saying Bazunu should’ve done better with their third goal. Below is a still from the point the save was made. Bear in mind the scorer, Saka, is just in space just short of the penalty spot. If Bazunu saves to the way he’s going it looks like there’s a tap in for the striker there. Either that or a miraculous defending clearance. Before criticising Bazunu I’d be asking why Saka has got the freedom of the box to smash In the rebound.

I think there was an essence that they didn’t want to show the contact bendarek had with the floor. They only showed it once in real time and it wasn’t pleasant viewing. I didn’t watch half time so can’t comment much, but Neville said a few times during the game that it was a bad challenge and it really needs to be stamped out of the game. Looking on another football forum I use which is non-Saints, the consensus was that Martinelli should’ve got a yellow for it. But sounds like things will just move on regardless.
-
I thought so too, but I don’t think it’s the majority opinion. BBC does a “rate the players” features every game and JWP got the lowest rating of any Saints player. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65271717 Personally I think we’re quite lucky to have him and we’ll struggle to replace him.

Gonna be kind to Selles and say that we needed to change, KWP and a Perraud we’re getting absolutely ripped and both booked. As many others have said though, why give up Alcaraz? Armstrong was the logical choice to go, at least with 3 in the central midfield we can keep a bit of a higher line.
-
Exactly this. Take off Armstrong, keep the centre of midfield tight. We’ve basically conceded midfield now and we’re going to sit so deep.

What the actual fuck?

It doesn’t help the youngsters’ cause that our squad is too big (unfortunately it’s quantity not quality). For the Arsenal game we have AMN out as it’s his home club, Adams and Salisu are injured, and still the likes of Djenepo, Edozie and Mara can’t even make the matchday 20. Leaving out the youngsters, we’ve basically got a squad of 30 senior pros, almost all of whose have made at least 1 Prem appearance this season (Tino, big Willy and McCarthy haven’t). Next season in the championship would likely afford them a better chance of breaking through to the first team; where relegation puts us with them though, who knows.

I feel like we’ve tickled the bear.

Fuck me.

I’m predicting: Bazunu, KWP, Perraud, ABK, Janny B, JWP, Lavia, Eluseless, Alcaraz, Theo, Mara. Edit: if not Mara then Sulemana.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
The Kraken replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
I can see that’s where the Tories want to take it, it feeds into their culture war and anti-woke strategy. And I’m sure the majority of the papers will downplay it. I’m not sure it’ll gain that much traction outside of their loyal base though. See below from a Tory MP, the comments to her are largely scathing of her, there's very little defence of her insinuation that “you can’t say nuffink these days”. -

I’ve read it. Id say that, in isolation, a good number of the cases could viewed as relatively minor in nature. Some of them are more serious, such as suggesting that staff who disagreed with him went against the Civil Service Code and therefore were in breach of their contracts. Put it all together and it shows a pattern of bullying that is very hard to argue against. In fact, a good deal of the complainants have commented that there have been no instances of this type of behaviour since the inquiry was raised, and if Raab had behaved like that at all times there would be no case to answer. Also, the report determines that Raab was warned about his conduct by senior staffers but paid these warnings no heed (Raab claimed the warnings never happened, the report claims that it’s much likely that they did as there were notes kept at the time by one of the two staffers mentioned). I get the feeling that the Tories will try to play this down, Sunak hasn’t acted decisively on it (sources from inside No. 10 suggest he didn’t ask Raab to quit). It’s a bit of a mystery at the moment and doesn’t seem joined up at all, you’d expect a formal announcement very soon after the deputy PM has been forced to resign in disgrace. So far we have nothing but Sunak’s letter to Raab which quite frankly does more to flame Raab’s accusations that the investigation itself is at fault and not the pattern of behaviour. -
The perp is on the run as he is known to police theough previously attacking his girlfriend with a sledgehammer. Sounds like a lovely fella and definitely someone you’d trust to be safe with a gun in his posession.

Golden Raspberry End of Season Player & Manager Awards
The Kraken replied to Saint Billy's topic in The Saints
1. Worst Player of the Season. Elyounoussi. The epitome of how bang average useless and uninspiring this team has become. Deemed not good enough for us previously, hasn’t got any better since then but is now a regular starter. Slow Joe not too far behind. 2. Worst Manager. Nathan Jones by an absolute mile. Ralph had given up, Selles is making a good job of ensuring he doesn’t get the gig long term, but Jones was utterly clueless. 3. Worst Team Performance of the Season. Saints 1 Grimsby 2 for the result. The worst actual performance was Forest, an utterly pathetic display. 4. Most Embarrassing Moment. The whole Nathan Jones saga. His demeanour on the sidelines, the awful video of his first training session in Spain, his cringeworthy comments from press conferences (I’m the fittest man in the world, statistically Luton were the best team in Europe etc). I just lump all of that into one incoherent embarrassing mess. 5. Biggest Player Disappointment. Orsic probably, came with great fanfare but has hardly got himself a look in. Tall Paul as well, we’ve been crying out for a leading striker for so long and we got…..that. 6. Who is responsible for this shit show. Semmens and Ankersen. -
She’s going to be livid when we she goes down the sauce and bread aisles and finds Daddies and Mothers Pride.
-
Correct. Ayew and Schlupp.
