So what’s going to be the best way to keep abreast of events tonight? I see @saintant got lucky in the ballot and seem to have garnered some interest from other attendees, what’s the plan for text updates through the evening? I’ve looked on the Echo website and can’t see anything saying they’ll be doing updates.

That’s possible. It’s also possible that we’ve signed a manager who struggles to get his ideas across coherently, so the players aren’t sure of what he wants them to do differently. It could also be a combination of both. Either way it all adds up to a bit of a shit show behind the scenes.

Just been looking through our run in, there’s still a few games that ordinarily would be seen as winnable, so all is not lost yet. But I just don’t see us improving under Jones. Personally I’d like him gone ASAP, if we lose against Wolves next week then it surely absolutely has to be his final goodbye.

Jones interview summary: Really disappointed first 20, too passive. Really bad goals to concede. Suicide. Reaction fantastic, got a goal. Really positive second half. We have to be better in certain moments. Che needs to be more instinctive and he’s done that. When we Tweaked the system they responded well. every single game we are so so close. Better side even with 11 second half. PL is be all and end all. We’ve shown we’re not far away but we have tough PL games coming up, we need to start these games positive. The pre season was massive evidence under Ralph that we were going for it, Ralph was previously mostly a 4222 or other similar variant, it was clear a new formation was being pushed as a big thing, it went tits up in pre season, it went tits up in the league, and it was very soon ditched. Ralph out, Jones in, instantly we see a revert to this shithouse formation and after a few more shite 3CB performances Jones still sees this as his best option. And he plays it in a semi final. With a newbie at RWB who has never played this level, an RB in KWB to accommodate this, our best LB on the bench, our best CB on the bench, and Alcatraz who is 20 and who just isn’t going to bust this level immediately. Jones needs to bin off 352, work on the few things that do actually work. Bree looked like he was lost first half, much much better second half. If KWP has done his hammy then the full backs pick themselves from here. Unless Jones goes for Lyanco at RB, then fuck knows what’s going on.

Agreed, but blame IFAB for that, they’ve been asked to do on numerous occasions but keep saying son and insisting they know better.

I’ll be interested to hear what Jones has to say about his formation choice here. Especially since we’ve actually looked alright second half. First half hour we justblooked lost all over the pitch, some of the players have to hold their hands up but so does the manager. Will he?

This half has been fine. Of course Newcastle are just defending a lead but our formation is now one that actually works for us.
