  1. Tbf I’m sure if the situations were reversed we have some fans on here speculating the same type of thing. Burnley just re-promoted, a seemingly excellent manager and a team on the up, Tella being back at a club that didn’t want him before and loaned him out. Understandable they’ve got some fans who come to that reasoning, and I dare say there’s a lot that’s appealing to Tella about a move. I just hope he does see value in staying with us, but if he doesn’t I feel fairly certain that £9M is about half of what would be needed for us to let him go.
  2. If he makes it to Saudi Arabia he’d be lauded for that, his (alleged) behaviour is entirely encouraged over there.
  3. If you want definitions and examples of how gender is seen as being different to sex, there’s tonnes of information out there on the subject. You can start with good old Wikipedia, lots of examples for you there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender And yes, of course biological men shouldn’t compete in women’s sports. It’s insane that gender has dictated these areas, it should be done by biological sex. That said, there also clearly needs to be something of a shift for inclusivity, which is why many sports are now looking at ‘open’ categories and ‘female only’, which imo is the absolute right approach. The changing room analogy is valid but, as I said, a simple one size fits all rule on sexuality doesn’t solve the societal issues.
  4. The definition of gender is quite clear, it’s a term whose definition has evolved over much time. I absolutely don’t have to answer any basic questions first as it’s there is a difference between sex and gender, the term gender has evolved over a long period of time and it just doesn’t mean the same thing as sex. As to your wholly nonsense statement “the people saying it don’t believe it at all and have no intention of acknowledging the supposed difference between ‘biological sex’ and ‘social gender’”, this is the complete opposite of what I think, so well done there. As I’ve said sex and gender have different meanings, and basing things on the modern-day understanding of gender rather than sex starts to make things troublesome. That said, it’s an enormously complex societal issue that isn’t solved by a simple one size fits all remedy.
  5. Looks like you’re conflating the term ‘gender’ with ‘sex’. The two aren’t the same. Sex as a terminology refers to the biological nature of a person, whereas gender refers to behaviours and societal norms. Hence why it is often said that people identify as a different gender to their birth sex. Your whole diatribe would ring true if you were defining sex, but the whole definition of gender allows it to be interchangeable and entirely non-binary.
  6. Doyle is a nice player but needs to learn to take fewer touches, needs too much time.
  7. Get used to that type of goal conceded. So brittle on the counter.
  8. The Bournemouth keeper made an absolute a Bazunu of that. Get in there gingerman.
  9. Man of the match so far: Dean Hammond. Very forthright and excellent at getting the tactical view across. Excellent co-commentary from him. You can see why he was a skipper.
  10. Of course. There’s no better player than Elmo when he hasn’t got the ball at his feet.
  11. Meatball header.
  12. Don’t think you’ll find many to disagree with that. Like the look of Manning. Charles looks like he’s got something too, but not at CB, at least not yet. Would prefer Stephens in there and Charles alongside Lavia. As Deano just said, when he haven’t got the ball we’re far too easy to play against. This is close to a second string side for us (I’d have Lavia and Alcaraz, maybe Manning) but they look extremely vulnerable to the press and counter.
  13. Go back and read the last page or two, both of those players have been commented on negatively on multiple occasions.
  14. Don’t think I’ve ever seen Lavia make so many mistakes. Feel sorry for him mind, he’s the only one offering anything defensive in the middle. Blimey, Che hit the target.
  15. He’s being a lot more positive than many on here will be. I imagine he’s actually thinking ‘wtf’ a bit too…
  16. This is brainless stuff.
  17. What the fuck is McCarthy doing? Clown.
  18. We’re gonna concede so many goals pissing about with it at the back. It’s great that we’re keen to look for a passing move out but the balance isn’t right yet, playing a few passes already when it just isn’t on. As the comms said, it’s only precseason so make your mistakes now, but any side that high presses us will give us bother.
  19. He does. Will be interesting to see him in the Lavia role, but he’s obviously a confident lad on the ball.
  20. That’s a side that’s ripe for an absolute hammering.
  21. This is something that has actually been designed and tested by Border Force and the RN.
  22. You can’t polish a turd.
  23. Keith Granger
  24. I’ve seen very little to suggest that this is likely. Too many needless mistakes, not enough saves made, not enough command of the high ball, he just looks like a bag of nerves. The best we can hope for is him being a backup but he has an enormous amount of stepping up if he’s going to make a success of it at Championship level or above. Two absolutely painful rickets in two pre season games aren’t going to help that one little bit. It was telling that he was frozen out for a terrible McCarthy at the back end of last season.
  25. It’s absolutely infuriating. As you say, The Masters and the Open used to be reliable insofar as the fans were knowledgeable, passionate about the game and didn’t shout random rubbish after shots. The year’s Open has bucked that trend and it’s chock full of unfunny wallopers wanting to be heard, and far too many other cohorts laughing out loud at these morons spouting off. It’s now like a Wimbledon crowd. Very annoying. I’m hoping it’s just that it’s just the location and we’ll revert to type once the Open circuit kicks back to Troon next year, but I’m not overly optimistic.
