  1. Top 3 Charlatans songs: 1 - Tellin’ stories 2 - Just when you’re thinking things over 3 - One to another
  2. Just been reading about the Hearts game on Thursday night, the minutes silence didn’t go very well. One fella shouted “Fuck the Queen” then it descended into chaos. Stay classy, Scotland. https://metro.co.uk/2022/09/09/queen-elizabeth-ii-dies-football-fans-boo-minutes-silence-at-hearts-vs-istanbul-basaksehir-match-17332874/
  3. I don’t see that they would be. I haven’t seen any other sports be criticised for carrying on. In fact, I’m just watching the cricket and Atherton on comms just said that the crowd will be happy that a) the game is on and b) they had an opportunity for a communal moment of reflection. The only good reason I can see for cancelling games is that they’re afraid the scummy Liverpool fans wouldn’t respect the minutes silence. And they may have a point about that, to be fair.
  4. You’re basically saying, it’s your way that’s the only right way to mourn. Which is pretty arrogant really, though I guess unsurprising. The tone set by the RFU in stating rugby games would go ahead was pretty much spot on. A dignified continuation and a chance for fans around the country to show their respects together. Football has misjudged the mood by siding with a minority of hand wringers who think cancelling everything is the only respectful course of action. Almost all other major sports have said they’ll continue tomorrow, which kind of shows how misguided football has been.
  5. I don’t have any problem on cancelling football on the day of the funeral, that seems like common sense. Cancelling tomorrow seems misguided. As has been said it would have been an opportunity for people to come together and participate in what I can only believe would be impeccably observed minutes of silence. That in itself would have been a massive spectacle. Not a great decision, carrying on playing football does not show disrespect.
  6. MLT may have gone off the reservation but he’s absolutely destroyed poor old saint loyal in doing it. Geezer is utterly obsessed with mad Matt.
  7. Well as of half an hour ago the M27 eastbound was a car park from Fareham back to Southampton Airport (thankfully I was going the other way). Not sure if it’s related to Liz though.
  8. They’re not skint, they’re not spending transfer money because of FFP, their owner has said as much. Also, that development includes a large residential tower block and a hotel so it’s something of a solid investment for them.
  9. That is not good at all, without Lavia or Romeu we were noticeably weaker against Wolves, and JWP put a big shift in. I don’t much fancy a midfield of AMN and Diallo.
  10. Just spray it green, job done.
  11. Exactly. I read a quote on it yesterday; VAR is absolutely fine, it’s the AR part of it that’s a massive problem in this country. Lee flipping Mason and Mike Dean are on it, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s shit. And it’ll get no better with them, imagine being a young AR and those are your mentors.
  12. KWP was definitely exposed, the goal came from us not having a right back in place. ABK got pulled across (then fell over), we just got massively undone. But wait until you see it, it was a failure of the entire defensive and midfield unit, just shocking from everyone in a saints shirt all round, it was a ridiculous goal to concede.
  13. It’s just horrific to watch.
  14. I’m still not sure how this happens. It’s the worst miss I’ve ever seen in my life. I read @whelkon here say it’s not even in the top 50. I’d hate the see the 50 that do make the list.
  15. Bumpety bump
  16. I think you’re over egging it. The KWP advantage didn’t look good at first sight, but when you watch the replay the wolves defender slows down when the whistle is blown, which made KWP getting beyond him look more than it was. Before that they were alongside and it’s debatable whether KWP would’ve got beyond him. The clearance into Salisu, that was a definite foul by Salisu in the first place to slow down the kick, he leaned right into him when he was about to kick it which you can’t do, so the ref pulled it back to that after it hit the player. The ref wasn’t brilliant, and the booking that Diallo got was a nonsense if it was based on that challenge. But on other occasions that you didn’t mention the ref waved away Wolves players rolling around and trying to con him, I thought he was fairly balanced and didn’t affect the result.
  17. They wouldn’t have been able to, you can’t register with two clubs in the same window? Edit, ignore that, I’m wrong.
  18. I was very unimpressed with him. I assume a part of why he played is that he gives a bit more defensive solidity. But there were a couple of times in the first and early second half where he just let his runner go past him and it let to Wolves opportunities. With the personnel we have available and playing 4231 we need the 3 to do so much more. Aribo looks good IMO, but AA and in particular Elmo gave us virtually nothing going forward today. Mara and Edozie are much more positive but bring more of a defensive risk, so it’s a difficult balance.
  19. Can’t help but think that would have been a different game with Romeo or Romeu in there. JWP looked good when got on the ball but was busy mopping up for Diallo. His set pieces were dreadful, mind. End of the day, risible finishing has cost us at least a point. But can’t blame Adams for it all, the three behind him have to step up a bit we simply didn’t make their keeper work. Some shaky moments at the other end but more from Perraud being off the ball and no decent CM shielding going on. Elmo is really not up to it, Diallo is absolutely not a holding midfielder, Djenepo should only play if it’s to be at LB. Very impressed with how calm Edozie looks, exciting to see what he does. AMN was quiet but comfortable. A very Saints performance and result.
  20. Could have given it to any of the players in the last game, struggling to think who to give it to today.
  21. Nice few touches from AMN. I like he’s looking to get the ball then do something positive with it.
  22. Seeing it on the replay, yes, absolutely. Djenepo really is a waste of space playing in midfield.
  23. Adams works hard and does a brilliant support job, but his finishing is diabolical.
  24. That’s the worst miss I’ve ever seen.
  25. Not a fan of those subs.
