  1. I was surprised to see you say that, but it looks like there’s a bit more to it than Brentford “released” him. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61762107 I thought Brentford had already got him for next season, will be a loss to them if they don’t. Some google searches say the likes of Man U and Spurs are interested so can understand why he’s keeping options open.
  2. It does seem like being released has had a positive effect on him. Whether that’s more due to also stepping down a league, time will tell. But he’s still only 21 years old so he’s doing well. As it stands now, I’d much rather him in reserve than Shane Long. But he clearly wasn’t to get game time under Ralph so, for him, he needed to leave. It may well turn out to be the wrong decision, it may turn out that he’s a Championship level striker.
  3. Feel sorry for Tomori having to line up alongside slabhead, not ideal when you’re cutting your teeth at international level.
  4. From “a Rolls Royce of a player” to being linked with the Turkish second division, all in the space of three months. Who’d have thought? The next Bobby Moore, he is not.
  5. Man City seem keen on a buy back clause similar to Tino, so the financial reward wouldn’t be as great. But if even if they chose to accept to pay it, it would likely mean that the lad has done very well for us, so positives all round.
  6. Not quite. She has called into question Saints statement that they are ‘in talks’, saying that the phone hasn’t rung. It’s possible that Saints have made a very low offer which has been turned down and the club hasn’t come back with a revised offer (yet). Or it could be that a deal indeed hasn’t yet been offered but Long is still under contract and the club are waiting it out.
  7. This is where I’m at with it. He’s on a massive contract here and on good wages too. Newcastle are said to be paying Trippier £100K a week as their top earner and I believe JWP is already on something like that with us, so a huge boost in wages is unlikely for him if he went to the toon. Someone in the top 3 or 4 could afford him and give a big pay hike to him, but as much as I could see him fitting in at a top side, like you say I don’t see them paying what would be necessary to get him, there’s likely to be more value elsewhere IMO.
  8. I said on the other thread about this, he’s on £120K a week and two years on his contract. He also turns 30 in July. If a loan is available at half wages then it would be appealing, otherwise it’s unlikely I’d have thought.
  9. Ings is supposed to be on £120k a week at Villa, he’s about to turn 30 this summer, and he has two years left on his contract. I won’t be holding any hope out for that one.
  10. Perhaps not a sport per se, but along those lines is top level mountaineering. One in a hundred people who take on Everest will die, but apparently K2 is one in four and Annapurna almost one in three. I do find the TT deaths pretty shocking though and I’m somewhat surprised it’s still just accepted as part of the risk.
  11. Jokes are always better when they’re explained. 😬
  12. An interesting part of the article: So far, Sellés move to Southampton does not give rise to changes in FCK's coaching staff, where head coach Jess Thorup still has Jacob Neestrup as his closest assistant:
  13. Tbf, that’s Joe Meclutchbroke and most other Pompey fans seem to despise him as much as they hate Saints. He’s like a Poundshop Piers Morgan.
  14. Yep. Ive ready some really positive reviews of him from Pompey fans. Also more than a fair share that say he makes mistakes, and reasonably often (as a young keeper will). It is a gamble, and I haven’t seen enough of him to comment either way. Just hope he’s ready as we’ll need him to be. Danny Crowley saying he’s ready for the PL is nothing, that prat hasn’t worked out what’s good enough for getting out of League One down the road.
  15. I wasn’t at the game but listening on the radio, I heard the commentator describing how Colleter went down under a “challenge” and Saints players were berating him and telling him to get up. Different times.
  16. As mentioned, Alan Bennett v Palace was an absolute moment of reality of how bad we might be that season. I was in a private box for the match at St Mary’s with my pals, a fairly even saints and palace split between us. Watching Alan Bennett get outpaced by James bloody Scowcroft to score, then see Scowcroft score a hattrick, was humbling. David Speedie was an embarrassment on the pitch for saints and a complete cunt to boot, so any of his low number of “performances”. Thankfully I’ve purged most from my memory. Ali Dia lives on in memory. I’m still amazed at the ineptitude of Graeme Souness to actually bring him on, shocking managerial decision and Souness doesn’t get called up it enough for how terrible a managerial choice it was after seeing Dia in training for a few days previous. And spare a thought for Keith Granger, bless him. Called up from the youth team when the season was dead and we were safe but had no goalkeepers. We got spanked. Twice. But for me the champ is any of the games that Paul Moody played in. Just completely and utterly awful.and so far out of his depth it was a bit cruel, he knew and we knew it. And so, deep down, did Branny Branfoot.
  17. Tbf, the runaway when wrong is more accurate (and frequent), I’ll give you that 👍
  18. Tbf, that’s the gif equivalent of you on this forum. Well done 👍
  19. Looking forward to the answer to this (albeit knowing that it will be accompanied by yet another unfunny gif).
  20. Saints aren’t going in for Minamino, and certainly not at that money. He’s 27 years old now and a long way from the Saints model of transfer. I was never much of a fan of him from his loan spell here, too lightweight and didn’t influence games enough.
  21. I may be remembering incorrectly but that may have happened (or nearly) under Cortese, IIRC he dithered and dallied so much on kit selection that we ran out of choice and in the end had to have an awful generic teamwear shirt just to get something out in time. I remember the days when next season’s kit was worn in the final home game of the season.
  22. Unless he’s got a very nasty sniffle and yet a massive bounce in his step, Boris looked like he was coked off of his massive tits tonight on his interview with Sky.
  23. He won’t though. He won’t go until he is forced.
