  1. As long as possible. Watching them tailspin is hilarious. Man United fans need some humility and a sense of perspective, their sense of entitlement is overwhelming.
  2. For a lot of people expectations haven't been downsized. They're still the same; try and finish as high as possible, with a Europa Cup place the realistic limit to that expectation. Have an ambition to qualify for the CL but have a healthy realisation that that's extremely unlikely to happen. I expect exactly the same of Saints now than I did a month ago. Take the Liebherr involvement away and that's when I really will look at re-assessing expectations and ambitions.
  3. We all don't.

    Miltonroader MkII.
  5. I reckon it won't, the new CEO will know that a very simple way to get fans on side will be to release a stripes kit. Add a tagline to it like "giving the fans their kit back" or some such gubbins and it's a PR dream. I'll be amazed if we don't see stripes or Rank Xerox next term. I don't mind a deviation from the norm at all, I just think our last 2 season's kit have been really poor, I genuinely can't stand this season's home (the away kit is really nice though).
  6. Well we clearly won't do that, being as all kits these days are on a one year cycle.
  7. I'd much prefer it with a collar though, that's what the original design had (a good one too, with red with and black in it).
  8. Our last two home kits have been absolutely horrific, so I'm hoping it's a change to something that looks half decent. I'd prefer stripes over what we've got but some sort of nod to the sash or the Rank Xerox kit would be good. Something distinctive yet still with a nod to Saints. Rank Xerox has always been my preference, just not sure if I trust Adidas to not f*ck it up.
  9. It's not irrelevant at all, EPPP doesn't allow other clubs to set up satellite academies, it allows them to recruit kids from all over the country to their own academy. The Bath site allows us recruit kids from that area without them leaving home, a big advantage. Us getting the bath site was very advantageous, there are plenty of other clubs who are disadvantaged like us by being on the coast but who don't have a satellite centre.
  10. I know his brother, Fred.
  11. No surprises, originally thought the prompt sale rumours was Cortese trying to stir things up and destable matters. Good news.

    Terry Paine

I'm guessing he doesn't read this forum.
  13. Those media reports are Vincent Tan's nonsense. The truth is rather different, and they didn't pull out because of the price.
  14. I don't mind talksport. Alan Brazil is a cretin but some of the pundits they have on with him are ok. H&J are excellent. I don't even mind Durham, you just have to wade through his over the top wumming. It's certainly better than listening to the cr*p they churn out on Radio 1.
  15. Arf. I'll put you down for Crawley.
  16. yes, but which team would you pick?
  17. I'd pick Wolves. Pay myself £2M per year. Employ an exceptional CEO. Get him to employ an excellent manager and whole backup team, and invest in the squad. Yeah, I reckon "I" could do that. Maybe.
  18. Just badly worded, I feel. The nature of us as a club was that we recognised that our best form of long term progress was to rely on the youth team. Spurs are expecting much shorter term success and as such can't have (and don't need) as much reliance on a youth programme. I don't really see anything offensive in what he said, but he could have phrased it a bit clearer.
  19. Dunno lol.
  20. He used to fag for Rupert at boarding school. Or something.
  21. No. Completely the opposite. Lowe sued Samuel (and won a record libel payout) over a Dave Jones story that Samuel ran. After that Samuel took it upon himself to try to portray Saints in a less than favourable light, in particularly the chairman, with almost every opinion piece he wrote about us.
  22. Like I said; why would any right minded individual be against her?
  23. Well, it started badly. Why on earth would any right minded individual be "against KL"?
  24. This line kind of sums up why I find it a touch bizarre how people so often only see what they want to see when there's an article that isn't entirely gushing in praise about something they support. Over on the other other thread this article has been described as "slagging off Cortese". Despite these quotes from the article: "He proved an excellent administrator and Southampton returned to the Premier League through two divisions." "And Katharina Liebherr may prove to be a dud, by comparison. She may have no interest in football and might no longer feel the emotional pull that existed when her father died; it is now suggested she wants to sell. This would be a great pity. " "Cortese has been good for Southampton, but his was hardly a lone mission. By the time he arrived in 2009 Theo Walcott was at Arsenal, Gareth Bale was at Tottenham Hotspur, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was established enough to be sold within the year and Adam Lallana had been a professional there since 2006. This was a club with a successful, established youth policy, a strong fan base and a new ground, languishing in League One due to poor financial management. Money restored the natural order, Liebherr money, and Cortese spent it well, as the best bankers do. That’s why billionaires use them." So I don't think [most] people will forget the excellent job that Cortese has done here. They're just able to put it into a bit of context.
