David Moyes certainly didn't in his post-match interview; he pretty much praised Nige for the performance and shape of Saints.

I wonder if other clubs have as many fans as we seemingly do that are so regularly ready to turn on their former player and managerial legends if/when they adopt a contrary stance to a new ownership that they don't completely see eye to eye with. I must admit I'm not aware of any others, but our lot can't be the only ones, can they?

Lawrie is entitled to say what he wants, as far as I'm concerned. He's earned that right. And people are entitled to disagree with him, too. Bleating about "why did he say this, why did he say that, why didn't he just leave it at that?" is a bit of a wet blanket approach. Top man is Lawrie, despite his various faults.

That's the pertinent point right there. We don't have another striker on the books who is even half the threat that Lambert offers us; it would be lunacy to get rid of him now. It would even be lunacy to get rid of him if we bought another star striker. What the club have to consider is, if we stay up, how effective is Lambert going to be as a first choice striker for a team who are looking to push on for a top ten finish (I imagine if we stay up this season that next season's expectations will significantly rise). RL showed last night that he's a real threat as a striker, but also somewhat limited in certain areas (pace and running the channels). If we do sign another striker I'd very much hope RL would stay to play alongside/as backup to him; though I'd suggest that if he carries on his goalscoring form he'll be loathe to play second fiddle to anyone.

Fair enough. Like I say it wasn't my opinion, but it matters little.

In fairness, I don't recall too many people saying that. Simply that, while Boruc was the best available keeper we had, he had previously done little for us to suggest that he would be a consistent top performer and that it would be a good idea for us to go out and buy a new keeper. SFC's persistence with Gazzaniga and Davis was ludicrous, really.

Yep, it was very odd to say the least. No idea what the translator was looking down at, but he certainly didn't seem to be translating verbatim (at one point MP mentioned Premier League a couple of times but the translater didn't come close to saying it). He needs to learn English pretty quickly, I'd suggest.

In my defence, I had him as first choice of our current 3 keepers; I just genuinely didn't see him as a long term option and thought we really needed to bring someone in. Long way to go yet, but he's looking like a different player to his earlier games. Hats off to the loony.

Also a symptom of only having Steve de Ridder and Steven Davis as available replacements. Even Rodriguez is more of a runner than someone who'll light up a game with a bit of brilliance.

Starting to make some people (including me) eat their words. Really good display again, the Anichebe save was brilliant.

He always sits alone. One of the seats has a Markus Liebherr plaque on it; the other, well I guess Nik Nak doesn't like company when he watches his footy.

Sometimes its more worth their while getting the village idiot on; getting a random fan with a bit of sense who'd likely say "we'll probably sing to show our support for the former manager then move on and support the new guy and the team" would be a pretty short conversation. Getting an ignorant knuckle dragger on to repetitively dribble some hackneyed invective makes it seem a bit more of a story.

Very well said. Any demonstration by the fans tonight will likely manifest itself at the start as an extended version of "one Nigel Adkins". The team and probably MP will get the backing of the fans, and I'd expect any negativity towards Cortese will either be minimal, or will start up only if we're already getting a sound beating. And the visual of the fans being behind NA will be good, and I can't see how that would be detrimental to the team. Make a point, then move on. If the fans are singing "one Nigel Adkins" in further games then I'd suggest there's something wrong with that; doing it in this is to be expected and lauded IMO.

The Mirror: 'Tensions over transfers saw Adkins sacked'
The Kraken replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Still wrong. The original quote appeared in the Mirror. That's just the online source I took it from; there are countless others. But keep peddling your own myths if you wish. -
Reality check. Singing "one Nigel Adkins" won't cause us to drop points.

Bloody hell!

The Mirror: 'Tensions over transfers saw Adkins sacked'
The Kraken replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
So what you're saying is Adkins really meant "I admit that our previous GK didn't play enough games so I want to bring in another one to do exactly the same". We'll probably never know, but I don't buy that. Adkins also mentioned that we'd lost Radhi Jaidi when he said we wanted to bring in one or two defenders. I don't think he had in mind bringing in another reserve as a replacement. -

I thought the focus might shift rather than admit the quote for "one if not 2 goalkeepers" was indeed out there. Never mind. -

Just clarifying that Adkins himself stated we would bring in 1 or 2 GKs, Bear. Apparently that was in doubt. -

Same article as when Adkins mentioned bringing in defenders, so you're both wrong. http://au.sports.yahoo.com/football/champions-league/news/article/-/14231323/southampton-boss-adkins-targeting-goalkeeper-and-defenders/ "We will bring another one if not two goalkeepers into the fold." Apologise when you feel like it. Or not, of course. -
Lawrenson 0-2 prediction and comments on new manager
The Kraken replied to Saints Warrior's topic in The Saints
Researched it? I'm still not sure myself that the manager knows everyone's name. Certainly not of the whole squad; he's had one day of training. And all that without having a full grasp of the language. You have more faith than I do; we can onlu hope that the duplicitous stance to approach a new manager before dispensing with the previous one was done well in advance. -
Lawrenson 0-2 prediction and comments on new manager
The Kraken replied to Saints Warrior's topic in The Saints
If the new boss knows all the squad's names on his first day then I'd be impressed with that, however much of a throwaway and supposedly humourous comment that was supposed to be. Its a fair point as far as I'm concerned; his first day of training was today, he admitted himself he doesn't speak the language fluently.
