Yep; good heads up at the time and I've now heard from a couple of separate sources that we went back in for RdM again during the season. NA has been a dead man walking all season long.
-
Canada, you're right, its not an excuse. Some might suggest a football chairman should be expected to face direct questioning and scrutiny on his decision to axe a manager in such controversial circumstances. Some would say the customers of that football club might deserve that. Others might disagree with that, I'm not one of them. The whole thing has been handled poorly IMO and a refusal to meet the press and instead shut himself away from any form of questioning says a lot about our chairman.
-
Dave, in the vote on the Adkins sacked thread, you stated that it was the right decision to sack Adkins now. Care to explain why?
-
Its two separate points of discussion. 1) Was it the right decision to dispense with Adkins at this point in time? 2) Is the appointment of Pinnochio the correct one? Right now I'm going with no, and it's too early to tell.
-
Good point, I'm sure it was just made up. I retract.

That's all fair enough; but it doesn't really address the issue that its not necessarily the decisions that the Chairman makes, its how they are enacted. Nigel Adkins may or may not have been the right man to fully take us forwards; but making a change right now just makes very little sense and offers a real risk of destabilising a team on the rise. Even if this new boss turns out to be a big improvement there are still ways of acting in the proper manner, and having your manager find out he is sacked by watching a TV program is pretty inexcusable in my book. I can't say hand on heart that Cortese is completely wrong to change manager for the better good of the club. I can, however, say that I don't agree with the way this has all played out and I have to agree with MLT, all of this is a pretty shameful indictment on the club and makes us look a bit of a laughing stock. A lot of the reasons that Chelsea are looked down upon in the world of football are becoming true of ourselves. Some people may be willing to accept that as part of a more successful club; I'm not one of them. Fans chants against the chairman will IMO makes zero difference to the performance of the players. The team will get the full backing of the fans. I suspect the new manager will too. I think it will entirely justified if Cortese receives plenty of abuse throughout the game in addition to that, though I doubt he will, just plenty of vocal support for Nigel Adkins which really isn't going to harm anyone.

Football fans are fickle and this fella will either win the fans over by picking up points, or he won't if our form dips. Simple. Cortese deserves barrels of abuse; and it won't make a difference to how the team plays. They will get the crowd's backing come what may (as will the new boss, I'm sure). If nothing else a sign on TV that the fans wholheartedly disagree with this shock decision and don't agree with the chairman's decision would suffice for me. The thing I'm worried about is that footballers are a notoriously sensitive bunch, and if they decide they don't want to perform for the new manager we could be in massive trouble.

Good. -
Wrong mongboard (or is that mong wrongboard?)

Keep the one man anti-Cortese mission going, they'll might listen to your sage words eventually. How could they not? -
Good point! Chuckles Chorley seems to have gone quiet of late and its just Perry McMillan and Mike O'Callaghan that remain with a desperate thirst to appear relevant.

Yeah, you've been living a one man crusade to inform people that Cortese is a bit of a rotter. Who knew?? F*ck me, you truly are a spanner. -

I've got no idea what that latest poorly-spelt essay had to do with my comment. As far as I'm concerned the club has acted in a shameful manner by dispensing with Adkins. I don't know how it was done, I couldn't f*cking care less either. The fact is its a stupid decision, an unjustified one, and reflects extremely poorly on us as a club. -
SISA; the non-existent platform for a bunch of 4 or 5 self-important c*nts to get their names in print. Time and time a-f*cking-gain.

Spoken like a true sycophant who won't stand up and have their opinion heard when their club acts in a shameful manner. -
Mauricio? Is that you?
-
Why not? Fans don't determine the results on the pitch.
-
I wouldn't have the Sun in my house either. Mainly for the fact that its a complete piece of sh*t embarrassment. Much like our Chairman, really.
-
When it happens I hope one of the waiters p*sses in his soup.

+1. I couldn't give a f*ck about the rest of our season and couldn't care less if we get relegated.
-
Because he's an arrogant clueless c*nt?
-
I think that's it for me this season in terms of going to games. Not a club or a manager I want to get behind. Certainly not a chairman I want to have anything to do with.
-
And you can certainly bet that after the money spent in summer and the sums being talked about in this window that simple survivial is simply not the target. The point is valid that there are questions surrounding our transfer policy. But criticising us for being a penny pinching club is trolling at its very height.
-
Because the funds aren't unlimited? Because spending nearly £30M in the summer was unprecedented for us? Because we seemingly had to take out a multimillion pound loan to cover transfers paid? If you genuinely can't see that we've already overspent and that you're encouraging us to do so again, then you're either thick or trolling. I don't think you're thick.
