  1. I'm not sure how I got pulled into the previous debate without even posting, but anyway. From previous publications of the what the sales of season ticket figures might be, I'd say that "final" figure of 22,543 might be high, allowing for comps, staff, youth players, players' families etc. But even with that in mind I'd have thought only by up to 200 or 300 or so, a fairly negligible figure. To answer the question of whether its an impressive figure or not; even if the full 22,500 is correct, its about a thousand or two less than I thought we might achieve. Feelgood factor and on the back of two great seasons, I have to say I'm slightly surprised we didn't hit an all time high of 24,000 this time round. 22,500 (or even 22,000) is still pretty decent though. And perhaps if we can consolidate in the league this year and push on, next year's figure will get close to achieving that. Overall, a fairly decent but an unsurprsing level of sales.
  2. So not even a Pompey based firm. A Fareham based firm, who took over a Southampton based firm, and are running it as a separate Southampton based firm (with all previous staff employed) rather than integrating it into the parent.
  3. Because you're mine; Nathaniel Clyne.
  4. Depends where Carroll ends up, and if he plays. As poor as he was for most of the season, by February or March he had settled down a bit and in a few games at the end of the season he was on fire, almost unplayable. he's a huge lump who is nowhere near being worth £35M but he'll still cause a lot of defences trouble this year, especially if he's in a team that plays to his strengths. Sadly for him, neither Liverpool or Newcastle are set up to do that. West Ham are ideal for him but it would be the worst thing in terms of development for him to move to London.
  5. Or try www.saints-away.com, coach trips being orgainsed by Avensis and Princess.
  6. According to the link posted above, Coliseum are owned by Lucketts but operate as a separate company. When taken over all staff (including owner) kept their jobs, and the company expanded. So all the crying about stitching up local companies and employees was an over-reaction.
  7. So for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, it turns out the new coach company are actually coliseum, and based locally in West End. Brilliant stuff, you investigative sleuths
  8. Apart from being an incompetent pr*ck, he's also a big West Ham fan, so its likely his version of the story came from them rather than from Liverpool.
  9. I think you meant delusions. They're such a poor, introverted lot. They have their whole "no fackin' scummers" approach, as they're clearly too mentally unhinged to actually engage with those from this end of the M27 without erupting into incandescent rage. And the mere hint of criticism of their club from those who aren't Pompey fans are met with anger and spite, even though many of their own fans are saying the exact same thing. Its a sometimes very odd place.
  10. You could always ask PompeyScot for clarification. Despite repeatedly saying he never, ever comes on here, he's been having a little read through of this thread tonight and commenting about it on his twitter profile. Hey there Bill, chin(s) up son
  11. I'm always surprised that Southampton doesn't even seem to have one popular seafood restaurant. We're right by the sea. I know the docks etc make us a port more than a fishing town, but is it really beyond the realms of possibility to have a decent seafood restaurant? In Swanwick there's a fantastic fishmonger which produces daily fresh catch, I'm just surprised we don't even have a chain restaurant like Loch Fyne to make the most of our proximity.
  12. So is the talk about the Trust having a number of High Net Worth investors to top up the other funds just a load of b o llocks then? Even if they did have the funds I can't see that the trust would get in ahead of Portpin. I still cannot see liquidation for them, but I've said before, watching them get spanked week upon week with a threadbare squad would be a joy in itself.
  13. Its the classic Pompey trick; renegotiate monies that you owe but can't pay now, and structure them to be "paid" over a number of years in the future. Then, when the time comes to pay what you owe (but can't afford to do so), its time to default again, and Admin 3 since 2010 is on the cards. And Trevor Birch will be long gone before then, with his nice £1M plus fee in his back pocket and a hearty slap on the back for all of his efforts.
  14. Not really all that different to our previous Premier League years. 23,000 STs, 3,200 away fans, plus whatever in the corporate area only ever left around 4,000 - 5,000 tickets for the top games.
  15. Ha ha ha, Guided Missile is winding up the Skates an absolute treat over on POL (or was before he got himself banned again). There's a thread called "Scummers/Linkage" and GM has got their site admin PompeyScot threatening to sulk off and take his ball with him, the rest of the inbreds are absolutely fuming at it all.
  16. Seriously, you need to stop biting.
  17. We're yet to see Davis or Cork. I'd be utterly amazed if we brought in another CM. We also have Gazzaniga, any other keeper we may bring in would IMO only be a youngster. High on the agenda is at least one CB, Adkins has suggested it may even be two. And they can't come soon enough, Saturday showed us just what will happen at top level if we continue to make stupid, basic mistakes at the back.
  18. Can you let us know the extent of games you've seen that you're basing your appraisal of JWP on?
  19. Divided loyalties for you now we're back in the same division as Arsenal, I'd have thought?
  20. Well of course that's entirely true. Judging a lad's potential entirely from one previous first team outing and a pre-season game or two is naturally the correct approach. I take it back. I almost wish I played FM or its ilk so that I actually had a counter argument to make in the face of such logic.
  21. I think if this lad is turning us down with the promise of a 50,000 seat stadium on the horizon, perhaps we should be looking at making it 60,000 or 70,000.
  22. You're joking, right? The Trust are absolutely desperate to get their shot at fame, whether they drive the club further into the financial mire or not. If they were permitted to do it I reckon they'd take it on even with the hige wage earners in place. They have a desperation to be seen as uber, plucky fans saving the club from oblivion and there is very little that will stand in thei way to achieve that. Saying that, I'd p*ss myself laughing if Chinny decided it wasn't worth the effort and then the trust failed to actually raise the funding required.
  23. Contrary to previous answers, I've been bussed to the plane when flying with EasyJet from Gatwick; so yes, it does happen. Sometimes what they'll do is let the priority boarders onto the bus first and get you to stand at the front. On arrival at the plane they then open the front doors first, so it kind of works. In any case, I've given up paying for priority boarding. There's no real need, and even if you are sat on your own its only for an hour or so, just read a book or the paper until you get there.
  24. I don't think anyone has pointed it out but the story is not a fake. The extra "m" stands for machine. HTH.
  25. I agree; I just don't think NA will take that approach. As a player you can learn as much from a heavy defeat as you can a victory; playing for a team like Saints we're going to get battered at some point by one of the top sides, and there's only so much protection you can give young players. I think its a redundant argument anyway as Cork will very likely get the nod with JWP on the bench.
