One thing I've learned from the last few games is that we can usually tell just from the starting line up whether we have a shot or not. Last week's starting line up with 3 central midfielders that don't add a lot was pants. One of Charles, Downes or Smallbone need to make way for a more attacking outlet like Charly or Stu (Willy, I'm looking at you presently) and Edozie, who has been our best player this season, needs to start. I'd also like to see Sulemana in from the start if at all possible. The back 5 are probably set in stone now (GB, KWP, THB, JB, RM), we just have to get right who plays in front of them.

I'm not sure about home record, most likely we do, but your post prompted me to look at form over the last 20 games. We have the 6th worst form. In EUROPE (top 5 leagues). That's madness. And without that little 4 game spell at the start of the season we're top for worst form. Leeds have built up a great head of steam after a stuttering start whereas we've done the opposite. Beat them though and we're level on points and pushing back up towards the Play off places. THAT is the incentive that Martin needs to be telling his players. Otherwise they can all (Martin included) just go away leave in january fuck off.

If Martin is still here and he's still not picking Alcaraz then the team I would want to see is: Bazunu (am I really saying that? Well I don't know what Lumley is like and I know what McC is like. I'm not far off wanting change soon though.) KWP THB Bednarek Manning Charles Downes Stu Sulemana Edozie AA Harsh on Adams and Fraser perhaps but there we are. Still, it doesn't matter what team we put out - Leeds will eat us alive.

Neil's old, I don't think his ticker could take much of us before he damn near keels over! But yes I am in the experience camp. None of these "perhaps they could be the next Guardiola" appointments despite having nothing on their resume that says otherwise. We need someone to come in, stick a rocket up 'em and pick the best damn team. Someone that can stop us leaking goals would be a start. You know how bad our season has become when I'm starting to wish for 0-0 scorelines...

Leeds next, no points. Stoke away on a Tuesday? No points. Rotherham at home could be the next time we see anything resembling a point. Then there's a good Hull side and Preston, who are flying high. I hate to say it but after 4 pathetic defeats, I'm very close to saying Martin out. Bring in someone now who can put a hairdryer up the player's butts. We're stuck with this lot until January, SURELY someone can put together a team that can at least draw a game!

Now imagine we don't go up and we lose all the players that made your positive list. It doesn't bear thinking about.

Top 3 in the league are storming ahead, Leeds have found their scoring boots too and then there's us, down in the bottom half having the shittiest September since Manhattan in 2001. Martin is walking a tightrope and things must change. Fast. One win won't do it either, we need to consistently be picking up points from now until January when we can do something about it.

I really wanted to like this team this year, I really thought Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day showed us what was to come. Instead we've got a bunch of bottlers that have no cutting edge, cannot string two passes together, and a manager that doesn't seem to know how to change it. We won't get promoted. We've gone from mid-table Prem to mid-table Championship in 4 years. Woeful.

2 of Charles, Downes and Smallbone should be starting AT BEST. They are 3 very 'ordinary' midfielders, nothing much creative about them. We have Alcaraz on the bench AGAIN. Is there one forum user that would put a fit Alcaraz on the bench over, say, Smallbone? Obviously the manager sees more than we do but I can't fathom it otherwise. Game's not over though and, I suppose, at least the bench is strong. Manning for Holgate. Do they admit they fucked up with Holgate?

Signing Stewart and keeping Mara and Adams did mean loaning out Ballard was a decent decision in the end but for a while I was definitely annoyed by this decision. I think our attack will click at some point. More worrying is midfield for me. If we have another season at this level which currently looks possible then hopefully Ballard can be a part of that with senior football behind him.

Defence a concern Midfield a concern Attack a concern Manager a concern Home form a concern Still early but we aren’t going up this season as it stands. The sad thing about not going up will be missing out on signing THB permanently, losing quality players like Edozie and being left with the players nobody wants… again. We need to try to get back to winning ways and the best way I can see us doing that is by playing your best players. Alcaraz and Sulemana must start. We better hope to god Stewart is fit soon and finds form quickly. As for defence and midfield… god knows.
