  1. Egg, you seem to be party to financial info....these bonuses are interesting as some have opined that they were wholly unsustainable. Do you know or can you say what sort of thing they were? I am sure that that would answer many a question as I think (or rather hope) that our supporters are realistic about finances having so recently been in administration and on the brink of liquidation.

  5. **** knows. But There’s obviously a reason why the gaffa went and that was the moment it became clear to the players what the ambition of the club was going to be,' Lambert told Fox Sports. comes across as balls. Is it or isn't it clear that the club tried to keep MP? Saying "there's obviously a reason" means that he doesn't know what it is. And really he has no idea what the ambition of the club is going to be, as he didn't hang around long enough to find out what it is. What is Lamber's ambition? I think it patently clear what that is.

  7. True. Worth noting what those teams listed have sold so far.... Barcelona 70m Liverpool 75m Real Madrid 25m Atletico 80m Chelsea 84m Arsenal 12m Man Utd 9m Man City 25m Soton 105m PSG 0.8m some dodgy figures but gives the gist of things. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/transfers/wettbewerb/GB1 As things stand, it seems only Chelsea who are now trying to run things sustainably. They are the ones who mention FFP the most. (As we are not able to win the thing, Chelsea are the club that I want to win even though they were the first to start the rot with the amount of money they bandied about a decade ago). Funny that the accusation of buying the title has been dismissed to history. Fans now expect and hope clubs spend vast sums. I loved our team last year. Ignoring Osvaldo, 2 signings from the previous season. And before that, it was Gaston, JRod, Clyne Yoshida and S Davis plus Mayuka, Boruc and later Forren. All those were vital, and given the step up to PL hardly over the top.

  11. A criticism that I would have, and it's only a criticism because it is what I would do, is that those up top don't actually come out and say this. Tell people why things had to change and that they weren't sustainable. I realise that they obviously don't want to, but it lays themselves open to more and more rubbish being thrown at them. I have to slightly agree with a recent online article that said all the negative stories snow balling, couldn't have done any good for the payers left behind, regardless to their veracity. One thing is telling....this great "Executive Chairman", with reports of him being courted by AC Milan and such likes, I have to wonder why he is not currently working at any football club? You would have thought given his reputation that he would have been snapped up in double quick time. Maybe he is just biding his time.

  13. Pushed him out? I suspect he was offered the chance, and he grabbed it (boyhood club etc etc). After all, he was under contract and clubs can't push people out against their will.

  15. I find it amusing the press angle on lots of new comers. Liverpool will take time to gel to become an effective unit but will challenge for the top. Southampton have no chance of repeating last season and will struggle/relegation. One thing seems to have been overlooked in all of this and that is the manager. While it has been widely reported in the press that MP had some strong bonds with the players (although not so widely reported is/was the attitude to those outside the clique), I feel that the press are being somewhat disrespectful to RK and his abilities. As I am not on the ground, I cannot do anything but make suppositions, but he seems to have done a pretty good job so far on the team building front and I hope that this can be carried through for the rest of the season.

  17. He's a good lad really, but I do feel he is possibly assuaging the guilt of being included in the group of players/management team that bunked off ASAP, by blaming the "owners" and their ambition. He's not like the others though. It's become very trite. MP leaving - well it was the press who said he was off because of ambition problems, and then the players have been running with it. I do sometimes think that those players expected us to spend as much as the big boys to show ambition. That frankly is ridiculous. Fans always expect it, but fans live in a dream most of the time. It is the board that has to keep things under control. One thing is strange though, is that the players seem to be showing a lot more loyalty towards the ex manager than the club. I guess that that might be normal seeing as they saw him everyday and not the board/owner. But really, MP leaving - I would love this to be cleared up. Given that he was hawking himself around Europe in January, there being a "reason" for him being off might be down to his own view of his worth and not a reflection at all on the club. I am happier being honest and building on sustainable foundations. The manager seems key, and always is with the players so no idea why CEOs seemingly get brought into this save as a convenient excuse, and I am more than happy having Koeman instead of MP. It might have been a shame that he left and instigated this upheaval, but what's done is done.

  21. If I am honest, I started watching it, but after about 10 seconds I decided that I had no interest what so ever in what a player for another team had to say. I am sure that the Saints related bit would have been interesting, but still, I wasn't in the least bit interested.

  23. Nephew I think. I don't envy her her position. She inherits a business from her late father that she has shown no interest in before and quite possibly has no interest in. I always thought that we would be for sale, but so as not to tarnish her father's reputation, things would be done properly. They still might. A lot of money has been sunk into it, which if you have no interest, is not justifiable. However, as we all know, football does strange things to the sanest of people. She might appear to have caught the bug. Personally I hope she has, and that she sticks around, while taking a dividend out of the club as and when it doesn't harm the club. We are not top 7, and I doubt we will do. But apart from those, we are quite attractive (even if I say that with rose tinted and biased specs on).

  25. I wonder how much of this is players apportioning blame so that they can maintain the appearance of not having deserted the ship and their contracts at the first possible opportunity?
