  1. Chaise Longue from Ligue 1?
  2. Those around me always have their bottle tops removed. Anyone know the policy on thermos flasks?
  3. Hypo, you seemed to evade it last night but I'll ask again...... Who would you sign, while humouring me that PL experience is a must that is also Home Grown (I know that I didn't mention it last night, but it might well be a reason)? Wages and transfer fee have to be taken into account as well as their desire to come here. I said no top 7, or as we were 8th, no top 8 striker will come here. So please, humour me, and tell me one other striker who fits the criteria of PL & HG & who wants to come here while being affordable. EDIT - I see above you say Borini - same price if not more, a similar scoring record and not HG. Maybe wages are higher -would expect so. Wickham, possibly, but maybe looking for more experience.
  4. Which to me means that the scouts see something in him that they really like (of course given that it is £12m that seems rather obvious as well). There seem to be so many people on this forum that have the wrong vocation. If they are such good scouts themselves, I wonder why they aren't working for the club!?
  5. Colin, I guess then that it will be ideal for you. Me, I have no idea whether I will feel like a cuppa at half time or not until the time comes. Certainly, as I go to SMS to watch the footie, I do not set off at 40 minutes like some do, to get ahead of the queue. So by the time I get down from the top of the stand, queue up, order something etc, the whole of half time has gone and the 2nd half has started so there seems little point bothering in the first place. Of course the days of bringing in a thermos are long gone - it's a dangerous weapon now!
  6. This. I put it on par with Schneiderlin, Lovren and Lallana's behaviour.
  7. Am I the only one who is happy signing home grown players over overseas players? They may or may not be as good, but at least they have some connection to the country. The Irish bit is stretching it a wee bit, but at least he is home grown. After the pillaging of the club, I am quite happy to say **** it, and join in with the Man City's of this world and populate our team with mercenaries from around the world, but really would prefer home grown. But then, I look at the youngsters - Isgrove, McQueen, Targett, Reed, Gallagher, etc - and see that we haven't totally abandoned the home grown core. In fact, this summer has made me a lot more cynical about the PL. It's **** really, so why bother to do things the "right way"?
  8. What are we buying?? 1) A striker with PL experience. Some say that that is not important and that we can go into Europe and pick up someone cheaper, or maybe in to the lower leagues. To me, we have already done that in Pelle and Gallagher. I know with the latter we haven't really, but I see him at that level. Therefore, while JRod is off games (and may be off which seems likely if he has refused an extension to his contract), it seems vital to sign someone who knows his way around the PL. I imagine that the cliub think that he will work well with the Italian Stallion. While his goal return may not be overly impressive, he seemingly causes defences problems wherever he goes. 2) A home grown player -we are getting a wee bit low on them. HG players attract a premium. People still have failed to mention who they would have brought in instead of him. The criteria seem to be: affordable, want to play for us, PL experience, HG. I may be wrong on the PL/HG but that is my opinion. As none of the strikers at the top 7 are going to come here, they are a liitle bit at a premium. But like most whingers in life, all they do is whinge without giving any alternatives. Looking at our HG players: Clyne, Cork, Davis, Davis, JRod, Morgan, Forster, Bertrand. KD might or might not be here. Hernandez wasn't HG, so maybe not the ultimate consideration, but surely it must be one. 3) A hard working player. There are flair players and those that are damned hard workers who might not be overly fancied. I think Long is the latter in the same way that S. Davis is. 4) Someone who can bring a bit of aggressiveness to the side. 5) A striker with speed. I know I am not the only person to think this, but SRL was glacial at times. Sure he is expensive, and given that the REPORTED fee gives Hull a massive profit in a short time, then he does seem too expensive. But needs must. I wouldn't say it was a panic buy, but no point faffing about. Also no point putting in a cheeky low bid which would get turned down. I don't advocate over paying, but in this instance, I can understand why an offer too good to refuse has been offered.
  9. That Glasgow fella, while speaking a complete load of balls most of the time, did come up with some good bits. What ever happened to him?
  10. FFS - I am really ****ing confused. Like ^ I thought he was offered a free. If £5m, then good but I doubt it. As I can't affect it and I have my own finances to concern myself over, I don't think I'll take any notice of how much we buy/sell players for. I'll just turn up and support the team.
  11. Good one Toon.
  12. Agree that this summer has been so depressing. So many ****ing moaning idiots on the forum.
  13. Because I think it is, given the situation that we find ourselves in with the strikers. Gallagher is not up to it at the moment, nor is Mayuka and Pelle is an unknown. Maybe consider it erring on the side of caution. OK, you might think otherwise, but why not humour me, and let's say that PL experience is VITAL and the reason behind this. Who would you go for? We tried with Hernandez, but that didn't work, so who else?
  14. No, that's not what I was saying. I was asking other's opinions on who would come? If people are deluded enough to think that the like of Hernandez would come here over the likes of Juve, then that can't be helped. None of the strikers at the top 7 would think of dropping down to us. If that is the case, and you want PL experience, which seems to be at the heart of this, who do you go for that is a better alternative? Bony? Benteke? Not sure that they would see Saints as part of their career development, nor Remy, even if we could afford his wages. So who would you go with, remembering the PL experience is a must?
  15. I look on http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ and they come up with all sorts of fees!!
  16. People still convinced we are having a fire sale? Who is more of a risk.... Pelle @ £9m with no PL game time Long @ £12m with the PL experience Which other forward is available with PL experience and who we could buy (which means they want to come here) and who would fit in?
  17. £12m for Long or £14m for Borini who has scored 8 goals in 49 PL games. I do think that the Borini deal will be seen to be OK because he is not British/Irish, and that he might be coming from Liverpool.
  18. OK - I have had a chance to think about it.......Hull pocket a tidy profit. But, it rather depends on who they get in to replace him and how much he costs. The whole market has changed recently and this might just be a realignment. So if they have to spend all the profit on getting someone in who may or may not be as good, then they are the losers in this. Everyone is saying that £12m is too much, but is it any worse than.... £8.5m Cornelius and Van Wolfswinkle £11m McComack £5.5m Assombalonga Some on the Hull forums are thinking about Rhodes, but last I heard was that his price was £15m. Still details of fees are notoriously guarded, so.....
  19. We live in strange times..... OK fee if you compare to McCormack Good fee (maybe) if you compare to Lallana Bad fee if you compare to what Hull paid 8 months ago. That is if the reported fee is what it is.
  20. People are saying not very good from the scouting network. But I would say the opposite. They obviously know something, as of all the players out there, he really wasn't on the radar of most people, so I would have to say that they know something that we don't. Well, that's my optimistic view on things. I actually like him as a player, but I think that the price is a little misleading (at least I hope it is).
  21. Does he count as "home grown"?
  22. 2013/4 30 games, 7 goals, total of 2236 minutes 2012/3 34 games, 8 goals, total of 2150 minutes 2011/2 32 games, 8 goals, total of 2186 minutes People have brought Hernandez into the discussion, and below are the stats for the same period. Anyway, as he is off to Juve, I think it a little superfluous mentioning him.... 2013/4 24 games, 4 goals, total of 855 minutes 2012/3 22 games, 10 goals, total of 953 minutes 2011/2 28 games, 10 goals, total of 1496 minutes
  23. Someone said that the £10m fee was not correct (I think KB did). Since then the fee has gone up to £12m. Hull signed him in January 2014 for £7.5m so I would be very surprised if an extra £4.5m was to be added after 6 months.
  24. Heard Sky Andrews a fair few times and he always comes across pretty well, especially this time.
  25. Why is the question "what is the point of it all?" buried in with the seasons predictions? It should be having pages and pages dedicated to the subject. Much more interesting than constantly reading about Van Gaal, Liverpool or Arsenal. (I think that I usually prefer the team that get's the least press coverage (of those that can win it) to win the league and this year it seems to be Chelsea).
