Driving on the right (i.e. left) side of the road
angelman replied to bridge too far's topic in Motoring Forum
The largest number of people who drive on the left are the Indians. Well that is where they are supposed to drive. Found this bit from wiki interesting: Of the other most populous countries, apart from Indias 1155m, are Pakistan 169m, Bangladesh 162m and Indonesia 230m. So all in all, I guess about 2 billion drive on the left, give or take. -
Perry Groves He played 15 times for us in 2 years He was small He had red hair

Interesting run ins..... Posh - MK, Cherries. Hudd & Orient are seemingly the trickiest left Hudd - Posh, Charlton, MK, B&HA MK - Posh, us and Hudd Cherries - Charlton and Posh Us - Charlton x2, MK, Orient and B&HA Fortunately I guess, that the play off teams seem to be playing each other plenty more times. Charlton seemingly might be the most important team for us.

I don't want a play off place. Too many uncertainties involved. Resigned to the fact that we are not going to get 7 or 8 points more than B&HA over the next 12 games, although stranger things have happened.

Got me thinking......now we are 3 and a bit years down the line, would anyone have preferred SISU's takeover to what has panned out? We might well have been in a higher division, which does count for a lot, but I do get the feeling that we have got a certain our perspective back in line (albeit being the big spenders in this league) and have a clear vision for the future. of course things can change, and probably will, but.....

think people are confusing a .22 rifle (rim fire) with a .22 air rifle. A .22 rifle needs a firearms licence but, providing the air rifle makes less than 12lbft, doesn't.

I agree whole heartedly with his thoughts on the Olympic Stadium.

Just thinking about the CC Final coming up this w/e...a competition that the big clubs are seemingly taking a little more seriously these days. I am a great fan of these knock out competitions and don't want the Premier League to bulldoze its way over everyone and everything else. Do you think that the Champions League places should be made up of PL Winners and Runners Up. FA Cup winners replacing 3rd place in PL and Carling Cup winners replacing 4th place? I know that the PL would never ever agree to it, but I am confused as to who is running football in this country. As has been discussed numerous times, what have 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the PL actually won? What are they champions of? 3rd and 4th in the PL can go into the Europa League, as football in this country should not be geared primarily to the PL.

Putting the local government job "cuts" into perspective

Barclays apparently paid 2.4% on their 2009/10 profits. Somewhat different from the 28% rate, and somewhat different to the 12% Irish rate. -
I just bought the Mrs the new Hyundai Santa Fe and that really isn't a bad car. When my 10yo 5 series packs up, I think that I might take that over.
-
There are much much worse....The worst car I have driven without fail was a Chevrolet badged Daewoo Matiz closely followed by a Hyundai Getz. I would buy British if there was a decent choice! When I last bought a car for myself, it was 10 years ago. I wanted a biggish estate, rear wheel drive and a 6 cylinder diesel. There were 3 choices. A Vauxhall Omega, a BMW5 or a Merc-E. The problem with the Omega was that it used a detuned old BMW engine and was lethargic and while it was OK, it was miles behind the BMW. The E Class looked like a hearse and the wife refused it. Therefore I splashed out a bit on a 10k miler 5 series and still got it today, 10 years later.

with the cut in all these council services, are we going to see a reduction in our Council Tax? (rhetorical question). Why aren't we? I know that their pension schemes have a huge deficit. Is that the reason? -

Badger, sorry about your situation. Not a good situation to find yourself in. Can I ask a question? Why is this happening now? Has your organisation (what ever that might be - you may have said but I haven't picked up on it) suffering from a loss of income due to the current cycle? I only ask because it seems strange that many companies suddenly seem to decide to have efficiency cuts when times are bad, when I would have thought that they would have always strived for efficiency. This is also seemingly very prevalent in both local and central government, where they miraculously save £x million through efficiency cuts. Why haven't these organisations been efficient in the first place? I realise that I have moved away from your situation into a more general one, but was curious to know the thinking/reasoning that has prompted your bosses to act like this. -
