  1. No Romeu or PEH?
  2. We did ave a head start, that is undoubtedly true. To address your points, with what we have, and it really is down to the manager to be able to use what we have (and it is now the only thing that we can change).... 1) Pacey wingers. It seems we have one in Long although he is played up the middle. I am presuming that he gets picked mainly due to pace, as it can't be his goal scoring!! Other than that, we might have to change at the back, and use Bertie and Cedric as wing backs. However that would bring into play point 3. 2) TBH I think FF is probably good enough (!!) as cover. 3) CBs - I think that we can discount Gardos. So Yoshi is cover. To me though, our problems aren't so much at the back. 4) Hmmmm. Move Lemina up the pitch? 5) I would almost make PEH captain. OK not experienced, but I think he might be able to do it.
  3. I really don't think that the transfer window is our main problem. The main problem is using what we already have. Last night was a classic example of it - why have Lemina, Boufal, Gabbi (and Guido) on the bench to start with? Now the central midfield seems to be a big problem area for us. As I mentioned on another thread, why not push Lemina further forward? While he is primarily a DM, he has played CM plenty of times. He is strong enough, quick enough and is skilful enough.

    “Plan B”

OK, my plan B revolves around Lemina. He is one of our better players, although the manager seems not to want to play him. While he is a defensive midfielder, he has also played right back and central midfield. We are lacking in the central midfield, and maybe he can do the job that we need.
  5. "Interesting" selection. We'd better ****ing win.
  6. I suspect that is why Long is still here and picked quite frequently. Anyway, looking forward to seeing our record signing.
  7. Maybe I am deluded (I guess I must be) but our squad isn't as bad as some seem to make it out to be. Sure the table doesn't lie, so that comes down to the manager then. There have been a few sparks to show that we are picking up of late, but are they enough, and is there enough time. I still think there is, obviously others don't.
  8. Or if you click on the link to the game he is out there playing.
  9. http://live.livewidget.net/streamvideo10/spartak-moscow-vs-cska-sofia-live-stream-4578563.html Here's a link to the game
  10. You're on fire today Glasgow! Are you at the game today? Not seen a prawn sandwich at SMS. I usually go for the foot long sausage plus onions.
  11. Very sweet of you Glasgow. Do you want to meet up at the game this evening and I can buy you a drink?
  12. Well AFAIK we added an attacking player, albeit dragging on a bit, and we lined up other deals. Sh*t happens and things don't always work out.
  13. That's the ticket.
  14. I don't think things started going south in August when Gao bought 80% of the club.
  15. You can think whatever you like chum, that's your wont, but on a football forum emotions and expectations get in the way of a cogent argument.
  16. Ah the bad, naughty owners. If fans do turn on them, then that horse bolted a few months ago with £210m in her sky rocket. You lot really have been suckered in.
  17. Depends what you want from a transfer window. If you just want to ignore what we already have and just spend tens of millions, then I guess you will be upset. I am presuming you are looking at Van Dijk in this window, but he was as good as gone in the summer. Or in reality, when he was meeting Klopp in Blackpool. As for moaning if we get relegated, you sure won't hear it coming from me. I am getting increasingly ambivalent about football. We've been travelling separate paths for years now, and we've got to the point where we are nearly out of sight of each other. Priorities change. Life changes. Football isn't attractive any more. The PL is a hideous pit of greed, with players who largely have no connection with the clubs they play for. I think that I might take up clay pigeon shooting instead.
  18. Long black vehicle.....first thing that came to mind was a hearse + undertakers!!
  19. But the answer to all problems is to fire the manager and spend tens of millions, while ignoring what we might already have.
  20. I agree. Getting the world record fee for a defender is very naive, especially as it is only 150% more than the next guy.
  21. Personally I'd prefer a British player.
  22. Most of you seem not to be buying into the "Southampton Way".
  23. That has absolutely nothing to do with people lambasting the club for not seemingly be able to sign Promes. If "we supposedly don’t have anyone else lined up" then that is a somewhat different matter. I do agree with those who say it is really rather stupid to leave things to the very last day. Even Carillo took most of the window.
  24. Why? We have met what was required. If Spartak can't get a replacement and won't sell, how is that our fault?
  25. Yes they can. Not really much point having a transfer window unique to your own league, is there?
