  1. I alos understand the poin that you are making. Our troops carried out their job very efficiently to protect rights of British citizens who wished to remain so. I can not go as far as pride though. Not in the face of so much needless suffering of both our troops and theirs. I have felt great pride in our nation over the last few years. The way the Londoners pulled together after the bombings made me very proud to be British. I remember listening to the radio that day hearing stories about people opening up their homes to people stranded, people getting in their cars and offering a free taxi service to people that couldn't get home. It helped to restore my faith in humanity on such a dreadfull day. People like that make our country great.
  2. Come on, it's a bit much to expect politician to remember what happened in the past.
  3. Regardless of which group of politicians decided to start it, it left thousands of innocent men, most who would have cared/understood very little about what was happening, dead. I feel no pride, just sadness for those that needlessly lost their lives so others could attempt to increase their own political standing.
  4. I agree Personally I take no pride in out defeat and killing of members of another nation that was considerablly poorer than us
  5. Also, by taking their life the state is no better than the criminal.
  6. Very much against it.
  7. This, IMO, is the most important post on this thread. Rising above those that wish us harm and not subjecting them to cruel/painfull/inhumane conditions is one of the factors that makes a democracy like ours better than many other countries where the citizens can only dream of the generally fair and equal treatment that everyone recieves. We should not be moaning about the HRA. It's something that every human lucky enough to live in a country that follow it should be immensely proud. Everyone should remember that we are all Homo Sapiens!
  8. I think a lot of the problem stems from an increasing failure of too many parent to install discipline in their children, expecting teachers to do it for them. Teachers are left in a situation where children, allowed to do as they please at home come into school expecting to be able to do the same, act up knowing that there is very little that can be done to bring them under control. It doesn't really matter what the teachers say if the parents action do not back them up.
  9. Done
  10. I agree with this. I don't think that the anyone should be able to store everything contained in all forms of digital communication that we have. It's no different to all of our mail being open and scanned and I can't imagine that many people would agree to that!
  11. I really don't think there is any need for this. He is still a human and I do not wish death upon anybody.
  12. That's a separate issue I think but agree that its completely wrong. You have to remember as far as large corporations are concerned profits are far more important than poor people.
  13. I agree with you Robsk that the issue has to be approached with a lot of care but it should it annoys me that so many people dismiss it out of hand with really understanding what is happening or really considering the benefits, especially to people that weren't fortunate enough to have been born in a rich country. It is true that we already grow enough food for all, but remember we have to make sure all the Americans cows are well fed before we start sharing with Africa
  14. The potential of GM crops are amazing. It may be one of the best bets we have to enable us to produce enough food to feed everyone on the planet. Humans have been modifying the nature of crops since the green revolution 10000 years ago. Now we have the techniques to bring about even bigger changes. I remember reading a few years ago about a new crop called protatoes. These are normal potatoes that have been modified so that they produce protein. These can be grown in areas of the world where people may be too poor to raise livestock and it means with one crop they can provide nearly all the nutrients they require for life. Amazing.
  15. A few years ago a friend of mine had a doctors appointment first thing in the morning. The night before we had been out drinking. Knowing that he had this appointment he went easier than usual on the booze. At the end of the appointment, the doctor who could tell that my mate had been drinking the night before asked if he want to take a breathaliser test just to see what the result was. He was still more than 2 times over the limit! He woke up and felt fine and had no problem with getting in his car. Had he been pulled over he could have lost his licence. You really have to be carefull the night after drinking any alcohol.
  16. I am assuming that everyone that is slagging off doctors in this thread got straight A's at GCSE, went to college to study science, again getting straight A's, before then going to uni for 6 YEARS so that they could spend the rest of their working life helping the rest of us to live as comfortable a life as the government will provide the funds for. I agree that the NHS is not being run as efficiently as many would like but do not take it out on people that are amongst those that deserve the most respect from everyone. Being a Dr is very hard work. They have to make decisions and deal with situations concerning something more important than anything else most people are involved in, human life. Before you question what they earn, think about what they do for society and then concider the wages/bonuses paid out in other professions. In the current financial climate, I think doctors are the last people that should be victomised for their wages. To all those that want to complain that the service they received from the NHS wasn't perfect, how much did you pay upon receiving your treatment? The NHS may not be the best health care you can receive but compare it to other countries where treatment is completely free. The NHS is one of the best Would you rather live in a country where over 15% of the population couldn't afford basic health insurance and be potentially denied the most basic of treatment?

    Necro

Anyone else on here into him? I've just got back after seeing him live this evening. It was an amazing gig that I really enjoyed. I've never been to a hip hop gig where a mosh pit was encouraged by the performers as much as it was tonight. His lyrics may not be to every bodies taste (ie hes is a misogynistic/rude/offensive) but his beats are amazing. He put on a really good show and I am very glad I went to see him. After seeing his show, I am also glad that my girlfriend decide to stay at home rather than coming with me.
  18. I can send you the recipe that I used if you want it. Its not exactly the same as the original but is still very nice and only cost about £23 to make 40 pints.

I really don't care about who is playing. I think that it would be best if no information about the lineup was released until all the tickets had been sold. I remember a few years ago when Oasis headline Friday night. I saw a number of people leaving on Sat morning as they had only come to see them. This is so unfair when there would have been thousands of people sat at home who where unable to get tickets who didn't care about the bands but just wanted to be there for the atmosphere.
  20. I see no point in offering false hope/lies that someones loved one is there potentially able to communicate with them from beyond the grave. Loosing a close family member/friend is never going to be easy but the best thing to do is try and move on as best you can. Deluding yourself into believing dead people can talk you is not going to help the situation
  21. Your link is slightly less impressive.
  22. This is what I want to happen too. Its quite ridiculous the amount of space that is used for burials. Just think if everyone wanted to be buried in a cemetery. There would be no space left for the living.
  23. I was having a chat about robots last night with a friend. Check out this video. Its quite impressive when the guy kicks it and it manages to stay on it feet http://www.geekologie.com/2008/03/post_10.php
  24. People need to remember that once a persons brain is dead, then that person is gone so it would be impossible for them interact with anything. They are dead! Get over it and move on.
  25. Is that because we are the first team to ever play youngsters in our first team?
