That is a fair point, and West Ham did spend a lot last year.
-
I don't disagree but that won't be due to agents fees I wouldn't have thought. If you want the better quality players, then you tend to pay higher agent fees. It's the way football works. I would prefer to have better quality players than to sit there feeling proud that my club doesn't overspend on fees but having average players. It's all about quality, not quantity.

The phrase 'cutting your nose off to spite your face' comes to mind.

That's good, although shows we don't pay much to agents. Perhaps that's why we're perceived as being difficult to deal with, why we have seen a lack of activity this off-season and why the Buttner deal fell through?

He could have done, but Sunderland have an offer of £12m on the table, and I don't think we're prepared to spend anywhere near that money on 1 player. Also up front is not really where we need to strengthen. Good player though. -

I think it's a real shame that Bellamy is off to Cardiff, as he could certainly do a job for us as a wing/forward. -

The point is not that there is a lack all round. The point is that even though there is, there are still rumours. But none about us. There isn't a lack of rumours, and there certainly wasn't around 5 weeks ago. Now it has gone quiet, and that's the concern. -

Every player we have signed this Summer was rumoured quite a bit before. As have been most players. There haven't been many 'where did that come from?' transfers. The press have reported it pretty well this year. Which is why it being very quiet for the past 2 weeks is very worrying. At least we were linked to players 3 or 4 weeks ago. No longer though. -

I wouldn't say far as he is a really good player, is cheap and on low wages. -

I don't disagree with that either. However, you could always give a higher.sigming om fee and reduce the wages to say 40k, which I would suspect both Lallana and Lambert are on close to now. -

First 2 names I agree, but you wouldn't take Shelvey? He was decent for Liverpool at the end of last season. -
Blimey, you must be a joy to be around.

Why do we concede so many long range goals?
Dibden Purlieu Saint replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
I don't know, but it always seems we do. It's something I have noticed for years, since Joe Garner scored a worldy against us for Forest, I just think we concede more than we should. MLG, there's a useful job for you! -

Lack of quality activity...
Dibden Purlieu Saint replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
I agree with what you say, and I also think players need time. I'm certainly not writing off players like Clyne and Rodriguez, I think they have the potential to be great, but the question is whether they are ready now, which I have my concerns over. I don't believe they were Premier League players playing at Championship Level, like Lallana for instance. I believe they were very good Championship players who will have to improve to make the step up. To be honest I compare players to my perceived ability of players in the lower reaches of the Premier League. I think it's difficult to compare against Norwich for instance, as I think last season was a massive fluke that they managed to be in a division with so many other poor sides with poor managers. Therefore I wouldn't say that many of their players are of Premier League quality. Yet at the same time, Wolves and Blackburn had quite a few. I watch a lot of football in general, including a lot of Premier League and a lot of foreign top division football, so I feel this gives me a pretty good grounding in the quality needed to be decent. Of course, there is also matching the player to the League, which means a lot of decent looking players in Italy and Spain would struggle over here (although not Michu, that guy is a beast and £2m is the signing of the Summer, by quite a distance).
