  1. So now even Dominic Raab thinks that remaining would be the best current option... http://uk.businessinsider.com/former-brexit-secretary-dominic-raab-scrap-brexit-rather-than-accept-theresa-may-deal-2018-11
  2. How is that relevant? Halal only refers to how the animal is slaughtered. It doesn't in any way impact on welfare standards during rearing and doesn't undercut UK meat suppliers in the way that the American meat would if we are forced to accept their trade terms.
  3. True, but 'flooding' the UK with cheap imported meat from the US will have a huge knock-on effect on British meat farmers who will find it much harder to compete. Surely you recognise that?
  4. "US trade deal would flood Britain with 'cheap, inhumanely produced' bacon" https://twitter.com/Scientists4EU/status/1065617152248594432 Taking back control, huh?
  5. Then perhaps we're both guilty of only hearing what we want to hear. It's a very common human failing to which we all succumb, whether we realise it or not. The key point here is that Steve Baker described this 'evidence' as being non-aligned. But given Lilley's well known position and previous record, and his close links with all of the same pro-Brexit think tanks as Baker himself, it's fair to say his report is nothing of the sort.
  6. Technically there are two Saints old boys, if you include loanees.
  7. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1064998103437201415?s=09 This one piece sums him up perfectly. His ego and narcissism know no bounds.
  8. The IEA, the Adam Smith Institute, the Global Warming Policy Foundation, the Taxpayers Alliance, and Leave.EU. In fact, just about every right wing lobbying group you can think of operates from there.
  9. Steve Baker on Twitter tonight promoting this 'outstanding' piece of work by Peter Lilley - the same Peter Lilley who was utterly destroyed on R4 this morning when he came up against someone with actual facts. https://globalbritain.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Global_Britain_Fact_not_Friction.pdf I'm sure it's just pure coincidence that this group - Global Britain - just happens to be based at Tufton Street alongside all the other fanatical brexiteer 'think tanks'. I particularly liked this bit from the last page...
  10. Absolutely this. I was in favour of giving Hughes a chance, but my patience has worn extremely thin now. I want him out as much as the next man, but to try and replace him before we have appointed a new technical director would be incredibly stupid for all sorts of reasons. As awful as he is, I think sacking him now and relying on a caretaker until the new DOF comes in and appoints his own man would be far, far worse in the short term.
  11. I really do wonder just how monumentally f*cking stupid you would have to be to believe that these two chancers actually give a flying f**k what's in the best interests of the working/middle classes of this country.
  12. Oh I do love this argument: "The climate has changed in the past due to reason 'A', therefore reason 'A' must be the only cause". It's a total fallacy. Have you even looked at the graph in the wiki entry about the medieval warm period?
  13. This is an extremely misleading claim. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/06/140616093317.htm
  14. They are already leading the world when it comes to investing in renewables. https://www.carbonbrief.org/china-leading-worlds-clean-energy-investment-says-report
  15. Yes, I agree. I've just completed an environmental studies degree with the OU, so I know only too well what the global drivers of environmental destruction are, and that one country or one group can't change anything. Global problems require global solutions, and I've already seen messages of solidarity with this group from other parts of the world. What happened in London today was just the beginning. https://earth-strike.com/
  16. F**k me. You've posted some ignorant drivel in your time, and this is right up there with the worst of it. You have absolutely no idea about my environmental 'credentials', and just because I choose not to discuss it in detail with you, apparently that gives you the moral high ground. Amazing. Just amazing.
  17. Oh you really are special Batman. You have a singularly brilliant talent for constructing strawmen and leaps of faulty logic.
  18. What would be the point? There's no answer I could give you that would satisfy you anyway. Lol, I was going to start my own thread about this the other day but I thought better of it because I already knew which way the discussion would go. Saintsweb not letting me down I see.
  19. The main argument would be that Yoshida's presence in an offside position in the 6-yard box influenced the keeper's positioning and judgement, and therefore he could be deemed to be interfering with play.
  20. Yeah because finding a bridge closed and then having to find an alternative route is just such a massive hardship, right? It's insignificant compared to the kind of disruption that we are going to see in coming years if we don't start acting now to protect the environment and move towards a more sustainable way of life. How do you know what mode of transport every one of them used to get there? Have you asked them all?
  21. Yep, been following this on Twitter for a few weeks and I'm in full support of them. The time for being nice, polite and playing by the rules has passed now. The social contract has been broken and this can't wait any more. The Earth needs a massive paradigm shift, and attempts to get the world's attention have so far failed, so things like this have become a necessity.
  22. New Brexit Secretary - Steve Barclay (no, me neither.) New DWP secretary - Amber Rudd. May really is having to scrape the barrel now isn't she.
  23. https://twitter.com/james_cj_w/status/1063387190112206849
  24. Quite. And the leavers have the gall to accuse remainers of promulgating 'project fear.' Amazing hypocrisy.
  25. As a Defra employee, apparently I must refrain from sharing on any form of social media what I really think of him. However, as one of the architects of this entire mess, refusing to accept the job which would actually enable him to be involved in shaping the outcome really isn't a good look for him.
