OK, replay showed him behind the ball when it was played. TBF it wasn't clear from the angles they showed originally and looked clearly off.

Oh what a novelty it is to be sitting her basking in a decent Saints win for once. I've been finding lockdown pretty tough recently, and our terrible form really hasn't helped in lifting my mood, but I actually feel more positive and generally alive this evening than I have since before Xmas. Thank you Saints.

That's gutting for Barnsley (or the Dingles, as they're called around here) Such a blatant offside that would so obviously have been called by VAR if they had it.

I really don't get it with Redmond. You watch him and it's obvious he's not lacking in skill and he's got a decent turn of pace. But he's just sooooo easy to defend against. You never see defenders at full stretch trying to stop him, do you.

Fucking FINALLY! A VAR decision has gone in our favour.

Djenepo and Redmond together just doesn't work. They're both so wasteful and it leaves our attack disjointed and ineffective. Both of them had good shooting chances but completely failed to judge the flight of the ball and sort their feet out in time to get a good connection. Armstrong has been our best player by a long way.

Remind me how that worked out?

Redmond partnering Ings up front? We tried using him as a striker before. Was it Puel or Pellegrino who suggested he could become the next Thierry Henry by converting from a winger? It was a disaster anyway.

I disagree, because if it was applied to offsides then you would just get more situations like the one against Villa, where the VAR ref tries desperately to find a way to justify the on-field decision, rather than overrule it. With offsides, they should acknowledge the issue with the freezeframe not being precise. The VAR ref should rewind to the last identifiable frame before the ball is played, and if the player is onside there, but offside by millimetres on the next frame, then the advantage should be given to the attacking team and the goal should stand. If that means overruling the lino's flag then so be it.

You would certainly hope so.

Damage limitation really. It doesn't look good on the FA having to admit incompetence from their officials on the night, but it would have looked even worse on them if they had upheld such a ludicrous decision that literally everyone agrees was wrong.

And we all know full well if that exact same incident had happened at the other end, he would have just waved play on. Not a chance in hell he would give the away team a penalty at OT for that.
