Are they really any more unsightly than electricity pylons? I don't think so at all. Also, if you could provide a reference for your 'no proven benefit' comment, that would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah agreed, there are a few names on there that I would question. Jonno Quick for instance, he clearly wasn't (isn't) terrible, and his two goals against MK Dons were such a defining moment in our promotion from L1 that he deserves a place in the SFC hall of fame IMO. Van Damme is another - I thought he was a pretty decent player considering the overall quality of our team at the time.

In fairness Trousers, he is right. Some of the comments from our fans on there are cringeworthy. But then, they are no different from what we had to endure when the shoe was on the other foot. So what goes around comes around I suppose.

Olivier Bernard. Signed on loan by Redknapp during our relegation season from the prem. A left back in exactly the same mould as Danny Fox, in that he couldn't defend and had no positional sense whatsoever, but with the added burden of the fact that he clearly couldn't be ar$ed.

It's a bloody good job I wasn't drinking coffee when I saw this! I would be requesting a new laptop from work tomorrow if I had!

Sorry, I'm sure this has already been covered numerous times before, but could somebody please remind me what is the lowest Division Saints have ever played in? It escapes my memory right now...

Well then I would say you owe it to yourself, and to him, to return the gesture.

Well Chesterfield have got a shiny new stadium, so that will be a nice day out for them

Cripes - 9 yellows and 3 reds!

Where is the 'like' button on this forum?

82:58 Substitution Substitution Bobby Reid on for Lee Croft. 84:30 Booking Booking Caution for Bobby Reid. Crikey - he didn't waste any time in getting stuck in!

Is it over yet? AS usual the BBC scoresheet is about 5 minutes behind.

Actually Richardson came in for an injured Clyne against Fulham and then went off injured himself before half time. I actually thought he was doing OK up to that point as well.

I don't think pap is actually supporting the conspiracy theory here. The image is suspect in as much as the guy at the marathon looks nothing like the soldier, so clearly it's a load of crap.

I could understand the British media being all over it if it had happened in London. But these things happen all the time in other far-away countries and they only warrant a small 3-minute section on the nightly news, if that. Yet when it happens in the good ole USA, it's massive headline news.

Just a thought... It's interesting how roadside bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan - which happen on a regular basis and often kill many more people - don't generate anything like this much discussion and media attention. Edit: I've just read SuperMikey's very similar post.

The "little things in life that really annoy you" thread

Doesn't surprise me at all. I grew up living in Athelstan Road and saw a lot of near misses due to this exact scenario. Quite simply, if you are crossing a give-way line to your left then you indicate left. It's not exactly rocket-science. -
I would be very surprised if it is. The whole point of their posturing is to display to the whole world their military strength. Resorting to acts of terrorism just doesn't fit that profile at all.
-
Al Qaeda is the bogeyman. When something bad like this happens, the media always start linking their name with it even if there is no evidence of their involvement. Remember how some media outlets were trying to blame AQ when that fascist nutter in Norway went on his killing spree? The point is that we constantly have the threat of AQ rammed down our throats to keep us in fear. The terrorism isn't from AQ themselves, but from the fear of possible threats. It's in the interests of the establishment to keep it that way so that the public are more accepting in surrendering their civil liberties in return for being kept safe from the nasty-wasty terrorists - aka the bogeyman. Anyway, going off topic a little. Like I said, I don't really want to discuss too much the possibility of AQ involvement until more facts are known.
-
I guess that's what we are expected to automatically believe when something like this happens. No doubt there will be a lot of speculation in the media until some facts are known, but I will keep an open mind until then. Whoever is responsible, this is pretty horrific.

That's how they get you though - the fact that it doesn't make any sense is why it sticks in your mind. Every company is getting in on it now with their own utterly meaningless taglines. Sky, for instance: Believe in Better. Seriously, what the f**k does that actually mean? -

I'm sure there are many others but the one that springs to mind immediately is people who stop and stand still when reaching the end of an escalator. What exactly do they expect the people behind them are going to do??? Start stepping backwards and marking time while the dopey tw ats decide which bloody shop they are going to go to next?
