FFS Corp your bang outta order! Everyone knows the majority of fans in Southampton support other teams. The amount of Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U tops on show in and around the city are evidence of this.

It's all over, move along, there is nothing to see here anymore. Pompey are now amongst the ranks of clubs in moderate debt, of which there are many. All that remains of this sorry fiasco are a few sad act scummers, squinnying about justice, blah blah blah.... Maybe you should draw a line under this now as even the most insensitive on here must recognize how undignified this sorry thread And the few Saints who frequent it have become.........

I think in the age of 'Premier League' football. Portsmouth in their 7 years in the top flight we're considered a throwback to a more down to earth and vocal support, dare I say it working class. Stoke, Wolves, West Brom and a few others gained recognition for their 'old school' style support also, it's a losing battle, when you pay £35+ for a ticket and your team serve you up sh*t, it is very difficult to still stand up and vocally back your team. The Premier league's games atmosphere's are generally terrible, I guess against this back drop Pompey and a few others have shone out (Though it's soon forgotten), Saints fans in their long Premier League tenure never did anything to stand out and create a (nationally recognised at any rate)fan Identity, but your not alone, your amongst a majority. I'm afraid with SMS come many benefits, but likewise a loss of soul. When Lambert scored at SMS to level the game earlier this year the roar could be heard in Fareham, but your battlers needed your intense vocal support when they proceeded to go 1-2, 1-3 and finally 1-4 down again against Pompey. But you didn't provide it. Portsmouth fans (for better and for worse) have a beligerance about them that you'll never have again (Maybe some who regularly attended games at the old Dell will remember a time when you did?). But you do get bigger crowds of silent bi-standers, who enjoy better facilities, piped in music when one of your players score and an alround x-factor football experience, thats Progress! Maybe certain people in the media (certainly not all) tip the hat to an old ramshackle Fratton Park, a beligerant band of fans who won't lie down and a soon to be lost forever football game day experience As an aside on our return to the championship I have been surprised as to how the atmosphere has deteriated there too, not a lot better than the Premier League nowadays, despite what they tell you!

Ok Nick if you say so. Storrie could well be proven to be a criminal in the not very near future, NC is a completely different kettle of fish (Excuse the choice of words here). I know my clubs short comings and if many Pompey fans didn't most recognise them now. Southampton are a well run club, certainly by comparison, but I would not be smug in the slightest about SFC's long term prospects with NC at the helm, ironically as a Pompey fan I'm party to the odd bit of ITK and heard the concerns regarding NC from the first day he showed up at SFC. I thought it was bais, but now I can clearly see the things I was told unfolding as predicted. Funny 'cos there's a bit of money (Never as much as some of the muppets on here seemed to think) at SFC but it amuses me no end that NC is pulling the strings, the fact that most of you lot can't see it makes me chuckle. It also amuses me to see the posters who maybe party to the same info I am regularly getting slaughtered on the Main board! If only you guys knew how right they are!......So is this the ramblings of a Bitter Skate? Yeah very probably.

The Irony of this thread is whilst you focus on your neighbours, your own club is busy alienating it's own fanbase. Your run by a complete despot (albeit not a criminal), who has no respect for your own past and traditions but most of you are too blind to see it. Laugh at Pompey all you like, there's plenty to laugh at, yet whilst you laugh at us, please realise we're laughing back at you. I take great pleasure knowing that your own Führer is doing his best to embarass your own club nationwide, many of the simpletons on here don't even realise it.

Nothing discovered on here that hadn't been doing the round amoungst my fellow Pompey fans for a long, long time. The fact that most Pompey fans (Including myself) chose to bury their heads in the sand is neither here nor there. It's no different than what MOST saints fans are doing regarding the person running your club RIGHT now, Some know the score and understand what kind of fella is at the helm, Many don't wish to believe it (Though know somethings not quite right) and others are in complete ignorance through no fault of their own.

Corps hit the nail on the head here. Your dislike for us is no different than ours for you lot. Main difference is we don't try to dress it up as something it isn't. This thread really has done no one any credit.

Just thought I'd pop up to wish some of the good guy's on here a great day out tomorrow. A tip, Don't eat food outside the Stadium, it's crap. Despite press reports the food inside Wembley is ace and IMO not that bad in terms of value, that said, I doubt many of you are going for food so the 'Foccacia Burgers' probably won't be that high up your Wembley agenda, which is a shame as they're very nice and much preferable to the '**** Burgers' I seem to be forced to ingest of late. But thats enough about Pompey. Enjoy.

lol, quality.

I guess some fans, like you and I, feel the Rivalry when it doesn't go our way and others are able to create some kind of detatchment from it when it suits them. I'm gonna have to get to grips with that as it seems a very useful gift in any football fans armoury. FWIW I thought you did play well, I was impressed and very nervous until the second Pompey goal went in. As the Derbies will now be a future fixture, you'll have your chance to avange the flattering Pompey scoreline.

And breathe!

Will everyone stop telling me this, sheeesh, it's really ticking me off!

Wes, a word to the wise, a w*nk in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I would of agreed with this 100% a few years ago ESB, but as a veteran of this 20,000 post thread and some of the bile swilling around it i'm not so sure?

Indeed I am Chez, and your more than most know about my outstanding footballing credentials and encyclopedic football knowledge and intelligence.

I don't get it. I can reflect on my clubs 4 major trophies to your 1 when I need to vindicate my sense of superiority.

Psychology it's the same as the player who slowly gets to his feet after a brutal challenge, the last thing he should do is show the other team how much it hurt, I don't blame any Saints fans for that. To be honest its something I've always admired. Pompey tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves (Which isn't a good thing, even though In todays society its deemed as passion and passion being all......). I always remember how dismissive Saints fans were of Pompey when you were in the ascendance, that hurt, Saints fans as a collective have always recognised this and always played that card to good effect. I've often wished Pompey as a collective could of been more pointed and controlled in their responce to Saints now were in the ascendancy (However long it may or may not last), but as you say, I guess thats another of the differences between the two clubs and its supporters.
-
I respect that boundary. I don't fish much, I don't try to upset Saints posters on here, I enjoy the discussions with most Saints fans on here but I WILL stand up and be counted when people post twaddle, like the recent Derby was a 'GREAT DAY'? Ok I accept it was not as painful as many may of envisaged, but to say it was a 'GREAT DAY' is just false bravado in anyones book. People should take things on the chin abit more, it's spineless not too.
-
In absolute honesty I can say I had no doubt we'd win and posted as much on here more than once. I'd be a liar if I said that after 20 minutes I was not worried, but prior to the game and once Pompey's second went in my previous total confidence was restored. I could drag up the old posts but that would be churlish. I take your point on leaving The Dell, should Pompey ever leave FP I'm sure I'd feel the same.
-
Oh, you mean the game at Old Trafford. Yeah, 9000 made the trip up that day, I was still dissappointed, we won the Championship at a canter that year, regularly upsetting teams 5-0 etc, it was a reality check and a good day out, I still remember being gutted though and feeling, were it not for Scholes and Van Nistlerooy it'd of been a lot closer. Losses to Saints, and I've endured more losses than wins, hurt like hell.
-
Ok, but only if you agree to keep pretending that a 4-1 loss to you rivals on your own soil represents a 'Great' day. As for banning you need to petition the mods to get it done then Benji, I'm sure if the vast majority agreed they'd do it. Luckily for me they realise that it's that little bit of 'spice' that makes this such a great board.
-
Don't see how losing 4-1 to your rivals, in front of your own fans could ever be described as a 'great' day, I can't invisage myself ever feeling this way, still I can't speak for you and maybe in the years to come I'll get to see my team hammered 4-1 at Fratton Park by Saints, then I might be able to understand the 'great' feeling? It must be a family thing as 4 members of my own family (2 of them Saints season ticket holders of 40+ years), did not share your feelings of the same day. One quote was it was like watching a load of enthusiastic puppies running and jumping around for 65 minutes and then......
