Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
Turkish replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
What would the fans opinion be towards Cortese should this happen? He would clearly be showing a complete disregard for the fans views on if he appoints Redknapp. -
Aldershot is amazing and would suit DPSs hardman image.
-
People said that at the start as well. They said the players don't respond to his business speak.
-
It went well the last time we did that.
-
The problem is now everyone is expecting it and Adkins almost admitted defeat at the weekend by saying he didn't know how long he had left. It seems to be a case of when not if. It's a great shame as I am convinced it's not his fault, he's just the fall guy for the failed transfer window and trying to change too much too quickly without the players and experience in the camp to do it.
-
Yes I do. I look at what he did at Pompey when he went back there and they were a shambles a poor side going down, they'd only won twice in 15 games and he kept them up and then turned them into a decent side. There isn't anyone else realistic and available with as good a CV. We might show fantasic ambtion and go and get a Bentiez but having been manager of champions league clubs his whole career then him coming here is unlikely. Sacking Adkins and bringing another man of a similar type will be pointless. We might as well stick with him unless we bring in an experienced, proven manager and let him do things his way. I don't like the bloke and as I said, with my saints fan head on then no way, but thinking rationally I can't think of anyone else, unfortunately.
-
Where is the PROOF of this?!!
-
I dont understand your point.
-
Sorry I didn't realise Paul Ince posted on this forum. What's his user name?
-
Don't disagree. Pointless sacking him unless we are going to bring in an experienced manager who can improve us. I think most who fit the bill won't be able to work with Reed and Cortese either. I personally think Redknapp is probably the best man for the job of establishing us.
-
So why are you read and posting on a thread about who is going to be the new Saints manager? Seems a bit odd.
-
No, I don't think we will and unless we do i cant see an established proven manager like Redknapp or Bentiez coming here. If all we are going to do is sack Adkins and bring in another rookie it's be a totally pointless excercise. Personally I'd get rid of Reed, bring in an experienced manager as well and let him build a team that is going to keep us up first and them establish us as a premier league side. Then start worrying about 'the Southampton way' when we aren't trying to do it with players and a manager all in their first season in the premier league.
-
Might we well keep Adkins then.
-
So we go for another yes man grateful to be here and will do as he's told and be the scape goat if and when it goes wrong? May as well stick with Adkins then.
-
Why do you think he'd struggle to work under Cortese?
-
Again, you are thinking with your emotions Colin, not who is the best man for the job. Do are you suggesting he couldn't work under Cortese because he won't have full control of team affairs?
-
You added that after I replied and I agree with your comments 100% but Reed and Cortese won't be the fall guys, even though Reed certainly should be.
-
Potentially maybe. Realistic? Who knows, he's managed clubs far bigger than Saints so the jury is out on if he'd want to come here. he doesn't have a track record of taking clubs from the bottom 3 into the top half of the table either.
-
I asked you to take the emotion out of it and name a manger who is available and realistic better suited and able to keep us up and establish us as a premier league club.
-
Yep, i can. Name one who is better. Realistic and available, remember.
-
When he went back to Portsmouth they looked certain to go down, they were in the relegation zone, only won 2 out of 15 and he kept them up.
-
Seriously, take the emotion out of it. Forget he was ever manager at Saints and imagine the situation with him, us and Pompey had been him, Ipwich and Norwich or Blackburn and Burnley. Imagine He had an identical record but managing those clubs instead of us and them. Can anyone honestly say there is a current manager, realistic and available that is better suited or able to establish us as premier league club again?
-
He discovered Bale. He turned him into the player he is. He told us this himself.
-
At the end of the day though it was Sandra that swung it for him, she told him what a great opportunity it was and how he'd be mad to turn it down, it's a great job and a chance to finish his career with a triffic club. And he's not worried about the reaction of the fans, what are they going to do shoot him? It's not a war.
-
Yeah so if it's a guide he's taken Bournemouth to their highest ever finish, West Ham into Europe and their second highest finish, Pompey from the championship to the premier league and FA Cup winners and spurs from the bottom 3 to th champions league places. Using your guide and having succeded at 4 out of 5 clubs I would say that makes him a great choice, no?
