A young lad? He's 27, he'll be 28 when he comes back from his loan. He should be in his prime. I don't like writing players off but there was nothing in his history to suggest he was going to be a good signing and even less in his time here. I still struggle to believe a £20m player was so poor that he couldn't get in the squad ahead of 3 players who only managed 14 goals between them all season. you don't expect anyone to publicly criticise him, apart from anything else if they did do that they'd be criticising themselves for such an appalling signing.
  2. Interesting. Who is your mate, is it Andy or Vinnie? Great lads, proper bantersauruses. Andy is a proper St Mirren fan, loves it almost as much as he loves getting on it like a car bonnet. got a proper decent little firm going there. Pass my regards on.
  3. U2 the Sweetest Thing He's pure class when he's on the ball Oh oh oh Danny Ings Came home to us from Liverpool Oh oh oh Danny ings Score goals with his boot and with his head make Southampton proud you know this is the right kind of love Oh oh oh Danny Ings
  4. I know we'll end up with "he's one of our own" but early contenders must be Ings can only get better, can only get better, now we've found you Or the Bob Marley classic Don't worry about a thing, coz Danny Ings is gonna be alright..... Clap clap clap clap clap clap clap

  6. No there won’t be! It’ll be a load of over weight people in saints shirts asking pointless questions about the formation, PA system, stadium expansion and half time refreshments with some waffle from Kruger and Reed going on about how well we planned this window so we got our signings in early.
  7. 6 goals in 219 appearances. The Slovakian James Ward-Prowse. Is he capable of narrowly missing from every free kick he takes I wonder?
  8. And then you get the wallies who claim that you won't know how good they are until they get a chance, like we can afford to give a kid 15 games to prove themselves or not. Yeah give Gallagher a go and while we're at it let's give Stephens a go in defensive midfield, he could be decent there, don't forget Hesketh, he could be the new Tadic. Then everyone can slag the club off for relying on youth to keep us up rather than investing, what a lack of ambition! I didn't know wether to laugh or cry the other day when someone on another forum posted that Gallagher should be given a run of games and posted his goal record whilst on loan compared to Harry Kanes when he was as evidence he could be good. Dear me.
  9. Yes you’re right Adrian. Lets play a load of youngsters and avoid spending any money at all costs. We should be building our team around these players. Gallagher was a goal machine for two seasons in the championship, hes going to rip up the premier league. ward Prowse is master at striking a free kick exactly a yard over the top corner, all he has to do is lower his aim slightly and he’ll be banging in 20 a season from free kicks alone not mentioned all the assists he’ll get from sticking he ball on Gallagher’s head. Slatterly, Sims, Valery, Rose, Jones, f*ck it lets send Vestergaard back and give Klarer a go, he looked class at centre back in the South Shields u23 Cup. I cant believe Hughes, who sees this lot every day isn’t into this already.

Correct. Why were we told that we would be sold to someone who has the finance to move the club forward yet it seems absolutely nothing has changed, the only trophy we are going to be competing for is the Net spend one.

Maybe they are part of a homosexual or non-binary couple. You are a bloated narrow minded bigot who just assume everyone should live like you.
  13. You’re right they don’t, we’re a lot better off then most of the orhers. In fact We were the 18th highest earning club in Europe in 2016/17, haven’t seen the 17/18 figures, I guess they’re not out now. Yet people make excuses for us having to fund our transfers by selling players because we have have to agents fees to pay, it’s laughable. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jan/23/premier-league-highest-earners-world-manchester-united
  14. How many times have we seen this line trotted out to "defend" the club over the years? At first it was to due to corteses over spending, we had to be frugal because of that, which I got. The last two or three years really it's incredible that year after year we make a profit from the transfer market, we have glaring holes in our squad and people put the line out "yeah but there are wages, contracts, agents fees, bonuses....." Like we are the only club that has to pay these things out. We aren't, every other club has these too but no other club has consistently sold so many players and made so much profit from transfers. Don't we even pride ourselves on keeping agents fees low? I've certainly seen a lot of backslapping in the past about how great it is we don't let agents take the p*ss. the long and short of it is we are back to being run exactly the same way as were when we were Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC. Can only spend in transfers what we bring In, selling off quality and replacing them with cheaper alternatives leaving us and buying in "ones for the future/squad" with a bloated squad full of average players where you cant pick a best eleven, because there aren't any players apart from one or two that stand out.
  15. Given your previous with stadium expansion threads i'd say it's highly unlikely https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?58387-10-year-plan-for-St-Mary-s-stadium#.W2Ij6rpFxn0 "I expect Southampton to announce either an expansion of St Mary's or a relocation to a new stadium relatively soon." https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?37346-St-Mary-s-What-we-might-expect-to-see-happen-(and-possibly-announced-soon)#.W2Ik2bpFxn0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcmo2itYwew Although you did get the bit about the red felt round the pitch right. https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?39155-More-improvements-at-St-Mary-s-Stadium#.W2IkpLpFxn0
  16. Nor me. It’s like blogs. People who think they are a bit better than everyone else giving their opinion which they think is so important everyone else wants to hear it.
  17. I like Charlie. He’s the sort of guy who can’t walk past a pair of glasses without putting them on. I reckon he’d probably put his cock in your pint when you went for a p*ss. Always a place for a guy like that in your circle of mates.

  19. to be completely honest the signings the last two years have, in the main, been nothing short of dreadful. At times last season we had four or five players who were at one point our record signing on the bench or not even in the squad. Even the ones that were like Hoedt, Redmond, Hojberg haven't really got anywhere near the levels expected of them. In Carillo you'd struggle to find a worst signing by any club ever taking into account the circumstances that he was a record signing, signed at a time when we were desperate for goals yet he couldn't get in the team ahead of three strikers who only scored 14 goals between them all season. then the hopeless manager who signed him was sacked only a few weeks later. One assist has cost us nearly £20m plus wages. It's all very well to say other clubs make mistakes as well and don't get everyone spot but other clubs haven't spent the years before that congratulating themselves on how fantastic they are in the transfer market, telling everyone who will listen how brilliantly they plan for everything arrogantly positioning ourselves as superior to everyone else in the way we do things. only for that to be spectacularly blown apart in 3-4 transfers windows. We currently have over £40m of "talent" out on loan, including two players who were recording signings, with likely more to follow, after few years of very good signings we've had two years of poor ones in addition to the fact that we've consistently failed to address significant weaknesses in our squad. Lets not pull any punches, our transfer business over the last two years has been nothing short of dreadful both in the players we've signed and the ones we haven't.
  20. For a short term fix Fernando Lloriente could fit the bill. Okay he’s 33 but he’s surplus to requirements at Spurs, only a year left on his contract so available quite cheaply or on loan. His scoring record before joining spurs has been good everywhere he’s been. 6 foot 4 target man we need.
  21. 2 of your last 4 posts have been foul mouthed volleys of abuse because people have said things you don’t like on an Internet forum. This and Calling GCS a fat c*** because he said he wasn’t interested in women’s football. If you think the problem is everyone else it probably isn’t.
  22. Interesting Sue, I’ve never skied there but I’m guessing you have. Sound like a great place! You seem to be quite knowledgable about Italy, as you said it’s from personal experience would I be right in thinking you lived there for a while?
  23. I got quite into woman's football a few years back and really enjoyed it. A few years back I was on holiday in Italy and a local women's team we're playing so we decided to watch the game with my son and niece. It was quite decent with two teams of a reasonable standard. However the one thing that ruined it for me was a foul mouthed English woman playing for one of the teams. Not only was she a rubbish player way off the pace of the others, she constantly swore and abused the other players whilst strutting round the pitch with an obnoxious, haughty, arrogant attitude appearing the think she was a cross between mother Theresa and the female Eric Cantona. My niece, who was 7 at the time and playing football for a local kids team decided there and then that football wasn't for her and she still talks now of the "horrible woman" who put her off football for life. Shame as it would be good for young girls to have some decent role models.
