  1. Schniderlin - threw a paddy “a great journey destroyed in one hour” then got on with it and had a very good season. Wanyama - threw a strop, when told he wasn’t going or the official line was he was ill so missed the game in Denmark. Had an average season, got sent off three times so missed nearly a third of the season suspended So mixed results. Although given Lemina seems to be the type to down tools if he doesn’t like something it may cause more harm than good keeping him.
  2. Poor old dirk, He’s been spouting this sh*te on TUI got years. Everyone laughs at him so now I guess he thinks he’ll get more of a sympathetic ear on here. He claims Every player that left was forced out against their will, they all wanted to say it was evil, scheming Les who was desperate to sell every player the first offer he got. Every player who plays for us is useless until they leave then they become wonderful, he’s even written players off before they’ve started Yet despite appearing to hate everything and everyone at the club he claims to be a massive saints fan, season ticket holder for years and goes to every game.
  3. Yep, those were good times, although this is one of my favourites. https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?45950-Norwich-going-for-it
  4. As I understand he's actually known since January that he we wouldn't stand in his way if he found another job. Or to put it another way the club don't want to sack him and want him to leave on his own good terms. Despite all the sh*t written on mongboards where everything they went right was inspite of Les and everything that went wrong because of him up until the end of 2016/17 his CV looked very good at saints. However you'd struggle to find anyone since then who would disagree a parting of ways is best for all parties. The attitude of some fans towards a bloke nearing retirement age has been quite frankly a disgrace. Some have spent the best part of a decade doing all they can to discredit him, making up lies, blaming him for everything, we've had everything from fake scouting reports with made up matches to make his signings look bad to supposed conversations that took place at England training camps which have somehow got back to people who post on the saints forums to make him look stupid! The latest hobby horse for some was attacking his son, now an agent, because he now has a couple of saints academy players on his books. Nasty, vindictive and vile. Still he'll be gone soon, which is no doubt best for all parties, but I for one think the way he's been treated by a few individuals is disgusting. I wonder who their next victim will be though.
  5. Said it before but I totally agree. Stephens is the wink link in our back 4/5, a really poor defender at the level we want to be at. Cant read the game, poor positionally, poor in the air and weak in the tackle. I really do want him to do well but he's just never going to be good enough.
  6. Angus Gunn Makes great saves just for fun Angus Gunn F8cking hates Pompey, Saints number one To the tune of Tommy Gunn by the Clash With this and The Enola Gay/Stuart Armstrong song our song list has improved by 10000000000% Now how do they sound sung at 100000mph with clapping all the way through?
  7. My favourite Alex Crook story is when he claimed we weren't interested in Charlie Austin, less than 24 hours he was officially announced as having signed. When I pointed it out to him on twitter he immediately blocked me. The guy is a joke who does exactly what you say he does. He is hilarious in his role as talk sports south coast football expert, basically "revealing" all stories that are already in the media anyway. I've never actually seen him say anything that wasn't already in the public domain.
  8. He's no jack Stephens
  9. It’s also amusing the ones who say he should be given a run of games to prove himself. Are they the same ones who lamblasted the management for giving the likes of Redmond a run of games and spent the whole time slagging him off from his first game saying he was sh*t and should be dropped? You’d have thought given the manager and coaches, seeing as how they work with the player every day, see them in training, in training matches and know far more about the player than any one posting on an Internet forum there really isn’t a need to throw them in the team for 10 games, deliberately weakening the team in the process, so they can try and prove they are good enough when they’ve done nothing in their entire career to suggest they are going to be.
  10. I completely agree with you about Stephens. I really want him to do well but i cant every see him being up to it. He's a nice player, in that he's nice on the ball, can bring it down and play it when he's got time, but his positioning, reading of the game, heading and tackling are terrible. Some saints fans seem to rate him because to be fair he is okay on the ball, but when your job is to defend and that's one of your weaknesses it becomes a problem. He'll be 25 in 6 months so unless he drastically improves everything he's never going to be good enough to be anything more than a squad player for a premier league teams.
  11. They signed the same summer, Rodriguez signed first and broke our transfer record, previously Rory Delap. Ramirez signed a month or so later. Ramirez actually did quite well in his first series but it soon became apparent he didn’t have the high press running style pochetino wanted. Rodriguez started slowly but was very good end of that season and the folllowing one.
  12. Name a club that has had a record signing that has contributed less. What is it one assist and then couldn’t even make the bench of a team in terrible form who had 3 strikers who only scored 14 goals between them in a season. Pulis, Forecast, Ryan Smith etc may have been crap players but equally they cost nothing. You’d be hard pushed to find a player anywhere who pound for pound has contributed less especially in the circumstances we were in. The fact the manager who signed him was sacked only weeks later makes it even more bizarre.
  13. Got to be up there. A club record fee for a player who after a few weeks of being here couldn’t even get into a squad of a team with 3 other strikers scored less than 14 goals between them in a season. Then to cap it all sacked the manager who signed him a Few weeks later. It’s not like there was even anything in his history to suggest he was going the cut it. Even now it beggars belief. You’d be hard pushed to find that level of incompetence anywhere in the footballing world.
  14. Just been nicked for beating up his missus in Ibizia. the dutch Stan Collymore
  15. Fitzhugh Fella will be over the moon! He’ll need to find another player to blame for everything now though.
  16. I was trying to remember who the player was, that was quality. Thank you!
  17. Makes sense, he can't be any worse there than he was at centre back.
  18. I remember a game against Norwich in the early 90s when him and Le Tissier were going for a ball and ending up in a good natured roll around on the pitch with them both getting up laughing. the Milton end immediately started singing "brians got a boner" where he responded in exactly the same way, seemed like a top bloke.
  19. “Oh Les Reed said” Scans rather well
  20. Oh Les Reed said: We gotta play him in centre mid Oooooh words can't describe When we see him in the red and white He'll soon be yours He'll go to Anfield with no sell on clause That's why we sing this song For Stuart Armstrong
  21. Can't wait too see the video of our lot singing our song for him One Stuart Armstrong, there's only one Stuart Armstrong Clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap
  22. A forum poster that has zero social skills or personality is not a good forum poster.
  23. Good leader, great passer, through balls that splits defences like the Red Sea I've heard.
  24. does that really matter? How many kids leave home at 18 to go to university and never return to their home area? In any case you can be in Coventry in 2 1/2-3 hours from Southampton on a clear run anyway. Maddison would already have known Ward-Prowse, Target, Redmond and Stephens from England U21s so it's not like he's moving thousands of miles away to play with a bunch of strangers. The fact of the matter is Leicester are a considerably more attractive option to us at the moment and they are spending but doing it wisely. Not many better centre back pairings outside the top 6 than Macguire and Evans for example and they cost around the same as we spent on Hoedt and Bednarek.
  25. Agreed. We've always done better with those sort of players and as Shurlock says if you can perform over a 46 game season then mentally and physically you don't need to adapt too much. He would be a great signing.
