The fact it was hard to tell shows how many people on here actually seem to believe some of this type of stuff. Mayuka did as well as anyone would have done, including van persie. He got no service, and there is no way anyone could judge his performance at all. It is simply not fair. From seeing the clips, and his goals in big matches for Zambia, semi final of the ACON for example, it is clear he has something. He has also scored against some decent sides in Europe for Young Boys, Barca being one.
-
Of course he won't. Will most likely sit on the bench, but chances of being picked in the enxt squad are higher. Clever move by Hodgson - great way to motivate a player.
-
Funny that Lallana is considered a young player. I reckon of the 23 or so players he has more career apps than at least 7 or 8 of them.
-
I feel the opposite with Fonte. He is making poor individual errors, not being done for pace or strength or indeed skill. He needs a back up the backside but he is capable of playing well at this level, he justs needs to get his confidence back and get back to doing the basics well ie marking, heading, tackling, passing. He largely defended well personally at City, and wasnt terrible home to Wigan until the second goal. He just needs to concentrate for 90mins.

No, please keep posting. Its nothing personal, more that we don't want to believe it because we would prefer he wasnt injured. Looks like he is though, and thankfully we have options to cover for him, as we have done for the last 6 months.
-
15mins was enough time IMO. He was worse than Jonno Forte, and he didn't even get off the Crawley bench vs Pompey. Zambia have never won anything, and I doubt he has even scored for them.
-
When does his contract run til? I know he signed one in the promotion for L1 year? Guess he will wait and see if we stay up before signing another.
-
Apparantly he won't even train with England properly as the game is tomorrow so he might do something light in the morning but thats about it.
-
Its good news because it shows he can get to the England squad with Saints. And good news because a player who has given his all for us, could easily have left, and is now our captain, has been recognised as a quality player. He deserves this more than any other player in the England squad IMO.
-
Big Ron not likely to sign any Africans! Bassett is more respected in the game IMO and sees a lot of matches on SSN.
-
Well deserved!

You wonder whether perhaps Les Reed needs help on the football side. He has done a lot of work on the new buildings at the training ground but maybe we need someone like Dave Bassett to be the link between the Manager and the Chairman and to work on signings. Bassett would be better at securing the proven Prem players we need like Andy Wilkinson or Dean Whitehead, and we can forget these fancy dans like Ramsez and this African lad.
-
Would prefer the lad from Christchurch to be honest. No Africans have ever been a success in England and this was a Cortese signing so on that basis he must be rubbish and he didn't score in his first 15mins in a Saints shirt. Will I boo him at Arsenal? Probably not while he warms up but if he comes on then yes.
-
This - plus once Lambert always looks better when he has a few games under his belt. Scored some late goals for us last season too so sure he will be ok to play 90mins or thereabouts.
-
Apparantly Bashley have beaten us to his signature. Their Chairman said he would personally paint the Christchurch changing rooms but NC wanted to send one of his media lads to do it.
-
In that case the story is plausible then.
-
And I thought he was out with the Japan squad for their matches?
-
Fox must be struggling for Arsenal, he wasnt allowed to do the kick in the car park at the end.

Errr...he did drop him for the Utd game. Unfair to criticise the player until he gets to play in his prefered position. -
Most sensible post on this thread.

Lets face it - if Ramirez was a fully polished player he wouldnt have just signed for us. He is a player with a lot of ability and potential who should improve, very few players aged 20/21 are the final product just yet. All Vickery is saying is that Ramirez still has improvement in him, and that generally the football world shouldn't expect him to be the final article.
-
Wonder what a class player like Merson would have made of an orange bespeckled Scouser telling him to concentrate on his "mid third press" or that "pressure makes diamonds".
-
Dorset youngsters are all rubbish. Clotese needs to look to another market - this smacks of a Clotese signing IMO. Jarvis was a snip at 12m and he wouldn't have smashed up Benali's house either. Clotese needs to sort out a defensive coach not go swanning around painting another clubs changing rooms in return for a 17 year old tyro league player. IMO if we get relegated this season this thread is the reason why. And also the parking charge and the kit. FFS.

Good to see we havent lost sight of whats on our doorstep. Don't know much about this player other than he goes to my old school but clearly Pulis has had him watched as he still has a family base in Christchurch from his Bournemouth days. No harm in Saints taking a look...
-
So Stoke sign Micheal Owen and we get a 17 year old unproven player from Dorset. Sounds like a Cortese signing IMO, cheap, unknown option. We had the chance to get Jarvis FFS.
