  1. If its not transfers its subs or a run of good displays but bad results. Really do wonder what games some people see. Judging by a few of the regular posters on this thread their internet streams are far from HD. Even talking about getting rid of NA is stupid. Maybe some of thsoe speculating about it would be better off buying a Villa ticket and making the atmosphere as good as it was against Utd.
  2. Reckon it will be the same lineup as the Utd game with Yoshida and Gaston on the bench - will be a far stronger looking bench.
  3. Probably the most difficult player to replace in our starting XI. Crucial to how we play and has started the season superbly.
  4. Again, can only base on what we have seen so far but would imagine we will have more than 10points from 18games. Anything upwards of 15points from 18 would give us a good chance of survival if we kick on in the second half of the season. Probably need 38points to stay up - a point a game.
  5. I don't see a Manager who could come and do a better job than Adkins, can you? We have played really well so far, with the toughest start the fixtures could realistically have given us. Two successive promotions IMO says Adkins deserves a chance, and at least 15 games to show that he can keep us in this league. Our whole way of playing which has been widely praised is based on NA and I don't see what the point would be in getting rid of him. How would people be reacting if he had lost 6-0 to both Manchester clubs? Kill Adkins? I am confident we will get better as the season progresses and IMO if we got rid of NA it would make us more likely to go down, not less. Any Saints fan that thinks Adkins only deserves 6 or 7 games in the Prem to prove himself (with 3 against Arsenal, City and United) is an ungrateful fool IMO (and probably the types that will suggest Phil Brown or Mick McCarthy as an ideal replacement). *facepalm*
  6. Adkins deserves at least half the season and Cortese knows how much he has done here and that he buys into the whole ethos of the club. Adkins has done, is doing and will continue to do a superb job and Cortese hasnt really showed a trigger finger yet - clearly Pardew and him didnt fit together but seems Adkins is perfect for where we are right now. Start is slow in terms of points but grest in terms of performances and I think NA will start picking up points soon. Has to, and will stay regardless of the next one or two results IMO, there is too much planning at Saints for knee jerk reactions to be made. Adkins has us playing the most watchable footy I have seen in 25 years of supporting Saints.
  7. Maybe Cortese is impressed that we even got into winning positions against them at all? Lots of teams won't get anywhere near beating them all season. Maybe he thinks that NA is one of the very key reasons why we were able to play well enough against those teams...I certainly do. Wigan - yes we lost, but were far from terrible and with hitting the bar twice we could have got a result. Doubt Cortese has got where he has by making rash and ultimately wrong decisions. Certainly hasn't been rash at Saints re Managerial decisions. IMo even considering getting rid of NA before we play 15 games would be criminal - it doesnt take long to jump up the table with a run of form and our fixtures between Oct and Nov are a better judge of where we are IMO.
  8. Can't argue with most of that. After our performances against United and City I think he have a 'chance' of getting something -I didn't really think this before the start of the season. We have nothing to lose, and I think the key for us is to realise we are best when going forward and causing teams trouble. The moment we sit back too much and invite pressure it is all over for us.
  9. Or - they rate Shaw as a good second LB. We havent seen enough of him (he has played 13mins vs Millwall and then 90 vs Stevenage and was taken ill the day after needing hospital treatment.) I saw him vs Anderlecht and he was very comfortable against the best side we faced in pre season. Clearly a massive talent so good luck to him.
  10. Wenger says Saints are "a dangerous team that can score goals". Also says Diaby could play but he won't take a chance on his fitness. Theo fitness test after his virus and Sagna back in 2-3 weeks so probs Jenkinson at RB. Also - RVP injured so shame either he didn't move or the matches werent the other way around!
  11. Haha Metalist Kharkiv also have some great new facilities - they are one of the msot respected European clubs for Youth Development.
  12. Spurs new training ground has just been finished I think and is also looking pretty good.
  13. Nice pic though
  14. They aren't really. Another example of the rankings being totally pointless. We all know England are really about 20th.
  15. 12 month ban reduced to 3 if he does the course. £2,600 fine. Barely any hardship for him really.
  16. Thats where he is most suited IMO, and then has freedom to roam a bit. I could imagine in a game where we are under the cosh that he might not track back as well as Lallana and Puncheon do.
  17. Said on the original OS article. He can play vs Arsenal.
  18. Yeah - he is a very good player, and with the way we play if Morgan, Cork, Davis, JWP can find him and Lallana in the final third we will be a massive threat. Last night he looked as influential as Suarez or Cavani. Reminded me a bit of a taller version of someone like Nasri or Ozil although probably not as polished. He tended to move across the pitch too so was hard to mark - not sure where we would see the best of him - if out wide then in some games he would end up having to track back all the time which isnt his game (think JRod vs City). IMO he would work best in the centre 3 of a 4-2-3-1. Lallana one side, Puncheon the other. Just need to get him involved as much as possible. Some stats last night: Uruguay made 353 passes - Ramirez played the most ( 48 ) Uruguay had 7 shots - Ramirez had the most ( 3 )
  19. Watched most of it: he is a class act with the ball and always moving to look for opportunities. Sadly, the defensive CMs of Uruguay had zero control on the game so in the first half playing as a "no 10" Ramirez wasn't given the ball in good enough areas. Second half he moved deeper and started all their attacks, in the way Morgan does for us - shows his versatility. Every time he got the ball he looked to pass forward, and seemed good with his right foot as well as left. He also looked strong on the ball and capable of taking some rough treatment. Ecuador were by far the better team I thought.
  20. Anyone played it? I think its available now on X Box but 10pm for PS3.
  21. Apparantly he tried an overhead kick which went over the bar?
  22. Hows Yoshida looked? UK based Japan football writer said to me he thinks Yoshida will do well as he has "excellent positional sense, is assured in possession and scores goals. Future National team Captain. He is quick enough and that positional sense really helps him too, and strength wise has matched some very tough players."
  23. Match started.
  24. Stream can be found here: http://www.wiziwig.tv/broadcast.php?matchid=169952&part=sports http://t.co/b6XcFbEw
