I think you're quite right. Consider your comments approved by at least one other person. It's not really about when the J league season finished either - De Ridder had a pre-season as normal but still ended up taking a while.

Acting like this and saying overwhelmingly negative things is good - that way, if the team (by some miracle - see what I did there?) do well, we'll be doubly as impressed and happy! If you set yourself low targets, it doesn't hurt if you don't meet them and you often do better than you think. I wear contacts though, that's true.

Well, put it this way, I really doubt Nigel had heard of Steve De Ridder, but yes, he'll be involved definitely! As for Spurs generating press, I suppose it's not unheard of but I doubt a club like Spurs has to get the Mail to write something up, I'm sure the phone never stops ringing with enquiries for players. I don't think an ex-Barcelona youth and ex-Juventus player needs to be sold via the press like that, even if it sounds like he never quite made the grade.

Nigel probably doesn't even know a thing about this guy. Modern managers hardly know anything about their signings, it's all down to the scouts who show them players they've got their eye on. Look at Sven when he took over at Man City, how many players did they sign? Did he know much about them? I really doubt it.
