Not Block 31 related but I'm commenting on the general sentiments expressed. I had a ST in Block 5 for over 12 years. Five of us used to go, and followed the club through the fall and rise through the leagues. After a few years in the Prem, five became four and then three. And then I ended up doing a season on my own. Over the last few years of having a ST, I noticed that all the familiar faces who had sat around me for years and years slowly started to disappear, until I barely recognised anyone. The final straw for me was against Leicester when Maguire got a late goal. Some lads sat next to me started celebrating so I gave them the talk and told them to fuck off sharpish.... I looked around for a spot of moral support before kicking off, and I was met with blank expressions from a bunch of gormless plastics and tourists. I gave up my ST at the end of that season. I completely empathise with @Griffo's position. And whilst I don't want to see Saints relegated, the Premier League really ain't all that. Over half the people in the stadium seem to be there to wank off over the opposition. It's soulless and corporate. We're viewed as customers, and might as well be sat in the Imax or the Odeon. It's not even about watching us win, like the fun times during the glory march up the leagues; I had a better time in the days of Wotte and Poortvliet when we were utterly turgid, than I had in the last few Prem seasons. I'm just sick of the anaemic commercialism of the "best league in the world" ™ I'll be back when we get our soul back. In the mean time, I'll probably get a ST at the Ray Mac and watch Smallsbury. PS. @Matthew Le Godyou really are an insufferable prick. I'd rather go to a game with @Turkishthan you, and he's a right cunt.

I still want a monkey chicken petting zoo.

Jim Ratcliffe = Brexit wanker. Talked up Brexit as the best thing ever, and when it became obvious that the UK was destined to become a third world shit hole, he upped sticks and fucked off to Monaco. I'd rather have Barry the Briefcase and the fucking monkey chicken petting zoo.

Just imagine if Puel or Hughes or Pellegrino or Wotte/Poortvliet had presided over our current run... Mole Country Stores would be all out of pitch forks. #justsaying

The good posters no longer post here and you can see why...

Tee hee! Your transmogrification is complete. I miss Nineteen Canteen most of all; a straight talking guy on here, and a lovely bloke away from the forum. This place was great when Help Me Rhonda et al were the centre of attention. These modern day forum blowhards and blatherskites simply aren't worth a fiver. PS. What happened to Baj? -
Very good! ?

As stated in another thread, the Chinese people I allude to are my family. My nephew was racially abused in his workplace by a cretinous knuckle-dragger who used the same term, just last week. I'll be sure to tell him that some old white man on an internet forum says that he has no right to be offended.

My post was quite clear. I didn't say that I consider you to be a racist. I stated that you had used racist language. When I pointed out that your choice of language was offensive, you used the popular right-wing trope "snowflake" as a means of insulting me. If you read back through our exchanges, you will note that I have remained polite and have not resorted to name-calling or insults, despite the fact that your language is offensive to my family. I have even invited you to join me and my family to discuss how racism impacts Asian people living in the UK, whereas you've been sarcastic, unnecessarily rude and personally abusive. There's nothing wrong with admitting that you made a mistake, learning from it, and endeavouring not to make the same error in future. In fact, that attitude is highly commendable, but increasingly rare these days. Ah well, all the best Crab Lungs.

From the link I posted, citing several dictionaries, as well as studies on the subject. HTH. "The term Chinaman is described as being offensive in most modern dictionaries and studies of usage.[27] It is not, however, as offensive as chink.[28] The New Fowler's Modern English Usage considers Chinaman to have a "derogatory edge",[29] The Cambridge Guide to English Usage describes it as having "derogatory overtones",[28] and Philip Herbst's reference work The Color of Words notes that it may be "taken as patronizing".[30] This distinguishes it from similar ethnic names such as Englishman and Irishman, which are not used pejoratively.[30]"

I don't know you so I am unable to make that call. However, you have used a racist pejorative in a public forum. And you have chosen to insult me for pointing out that your language is offensive.
-
In answer to JRM's question, yes, the term "chinaman" IS racist. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinaman_(term) Crab Lungs, you could have made your point without using the pejorative, the fact that that you chose to include it makes your intent quite clear. I don't want to be offended. But you clearly want to offend me for calling you out, which is why you have resorted to name calling. My wife is Chinese. My kids are mixed race. My nephew was called a "chinaman" at work last week by an angry customer. The word was used as a racist insult. The lad is 22 and was really upset. Does that make him a "snowflake" too? I'm not your pal, but I am perfectly happy for you to meet my family and learn first hand how hurtful racist abuse can be, and how it can impact a young person's mental health.
-
This is racism. It's ugly, and has no place in public discourse.
-
Being upset about the state of a football club does not give one the right to use the personally abusive moniker "fat Kat" or racist term "chinaman" (another thread).

I know it's a bit 'tin foil hat' but I can't help thinking that the players threw that game. Bertrand is a Champion's League winner and England international, but that unnecessary high challenge was amateurish and a red card was almost inevitable. Yoshida has almost 100 international appearances, and yet he looked like a Sunday league player; when defending crosses he was allowing strikers in behind him, jumping under the ball etc. Compare and contrast with the victory against the skates. Forget the opposition for a second, and examine the performance. The team were resolutely professional. Last night beggared belief. I simply cannot accept that the same group of players can turn in two such contrasting performances in just a few short weeks. Such a rapid decline doesn't make sense. Such an unprofessional performance by experienced professionals doesn't make sense. Unless of course, it's deliberate. Post game, the manager said he was responsible. And the Captain said the players were responsible, whilst alluding to something behind the scenes, that he was unable to discuss. So what's going on? Has war broken out between KL and Gao? Have the players picked a side? Was last night's unprofessional performance the players sending a message to Gao? Or has war broken out between some of the senior players and the manager? Rest assured, there's more to this than meets the eye.

Rodan - Juicy Lucy This belter is definitely the best track from Rodan's self titled 1974 long player. That said, the whole album is absolutely first class and well worth a listen. It's pigeon holed as progressive but has more in common with Bakerloo and The Greatest Show On Earth (both part of the Harvest Records stable) than with Pink Floyd. As far as I'm aware, the members of the band never recorded anything else, neither collectively nor individually. I've no idea why that's the case, but I can't help feeling that it's a shame It's incredibly rare, with only 200 copies pressed and bizarrely, there has been never been a reissue, neither vinyl nor digital. As a consequence it now regularly changes hands for over £500. http:// Sent via Telepot Contact @ 9pm GMT
