  1. For me Norwich were the best team i've seen against us (even though they didn't beat us once) - they looked a very good side at St Mary's. Swindon were the next best. So I am not surprised at all with the top of the league. Whether Swindon can stay there is a different matter, now the pressure in on them to keep it. In the same way it is for whoever is in 6th place each week till the end of the season.
  2. I agree that its a good point gained. The problem is we are all in "must win every game" mode, myself included so my initial reaction was anger, but on reflection I think it was a good result. I am frustrated that we seem to keep placing emphasis on the opposition when setting out our tactics, especially away from home, rather than imposing our own game on them
  3. It's a fact that we rested some players due to the cup runs, so its easy to derive from this that its wrecked our play off hopes, but that doesn't tell the whole story The cup runs will have given the club belief and the players belief that they can achieve and can win things whether its cups or promotions. This should provide the best platform for the club to go forward be it this season or next. It might have been that this confidence gained from beating teams like Ipswich allowed us to go to Norwich and win. Would we have struggled at places like Exeter this season if we were out of the cups? - quite possibly.
  4. Agreed. I do rate him, but he doesn't do it week in week out yet. However he is improving through the season so the signs are promising.
  5. Well if we could have persuaded Beckham to sign I'd agree with you. I haven't seen many yet in League One (or for that matter the championship) who can cross the thing with the sort of accuracy a fan craves. I would suggest Lambert is a class above the rest in this league with his delivery, so lets use it.
  6. Lambert is the best in the club at dead ball delivery, cross or shot, so it makes sense that he takes them. As soon as someone emerges who is better than Lambert he can go back in the box. It's pointless having Lambert in the box if the corner taker crosses it into the crowd
  7. I believe Hammond is injured? As for Jaidi if he played today he would struggle for the mid week game, and isn't Seabourne cup tied for that?, if so today's defence made sense. The only position that I really get annoyed about is up front where Papa should be playing every week, to see him on the bench or out wide amazes me. At this level central defenders have proved now that they have no idea how to cope with him.
  8. Agreed. The guy has already proven he can score goals at this level, just give him time and it should happen. In the meantime I do believe Papa should be spending more time on the pitch, in league one terms he is a quality forward, and should be up front scoring, not sat on the bench.
  9. I think pardew has done well so far, like all managers one or two decisions baffle the fan. Gillett is one, if he is good enough for a championship midfield? Is it height, tactical, I don't know. The other is Papa who for me has more ability that most in this league if used correctly. His class shows through in one on ones with the keeper where he normally scores. I went to a game with a "neutral" football fan earlier in the season who said Papa was the best player on the pitch - and i agreed. Better up front than wide for me though.
  10. For me our current midfield simply gets overrun by the leagues stronger sides. Morgan is not yet consistant enough, good game bad game. The right side seems a problem with James/Papa/Antonio all having a go. I would also say Lallana has the ability to do better than he has done so far. All in all I think we need 2 players, a CM and a RM, then we might start beating the top 8
  11. It sounded fantastic inside the ground. I think (and correct me if i am wrong) the success of it was down to the Northam getting into a second verse slowly by which point enough voices were involved to be picked up by the other stands. Without wanting to over analyse the moment of course....
  12. James doesn't currently have any consistency in his crossing, given he appears to take almost every crossing set piece it doesn't say much for the rest In his defence, he quickly ran out of passing options as the game went on, the central midfield sending it out to him then ignoring any sort of return pass. For some reason, be it tactically or through frustration our passing broke down completely and with it any threat of a comeback, the likes of Connelly and Lallana need the ball to feet not hoofed at them
  13. For me McGoldrick was one of three of the younger players who improved through the season and impressed me. The others being James and Gillett. I reckon McGoldrick could potentually go the furthest of all of the youngsters still at the club that played last year. Yeah he looks lazy but he has a quality first touch and knows where the goal is.
  14. I also believe a boycott would have the biggest impact, Lowe operates purely in financial terms However that is best coupled with the difficult task of getting those "boycotting" to still go to St Mary's but stay outside the ground and protest, then the effect is doubled. Without organisation and leadership from the fans groups it wont happen, and the chaos and frustration will simply boil over again and again.
