Well we only have three seasons to get into the prem. That's not a long time!

Adkins is at a totally different club now and has completely different expectations with a different job to do. Transfers to a club like Southampton are hugely different to the type of players that S****horpe were looking for and could attract.

Then what is the point of a messageboard? If all we ever do is deal in facts? We don't have the answers so we look at the evidence and speculate. It's one of the things a messageboard is for.

I never say any of that. It's certainly a possibility that we have less financial support than last year but not a fact. Sad that you resort to insults.

Well seeing as there is a topic called 'why this forum is dying' it would be nice to think that posters would be less insulting and more accepting of alternative views. I know you 'don't care' but it's pretty sad that we can't debate things sensibly without personal abuse.

Yes you did express your opinion and I expressed mine. Unlike you though, I didn't get abusive or personal in my replies. It really says a lot about you as a poster.

By expressing your opinion on an internet forum, by definition you are stating your opinion in order for it to impact upon others. Why else would you be posting on here? I'm not stressing, simply giving my opinion at this moment. I'll also comment a week from now and at the end of the window where it is entirely possible for my opinion to have changed. It would be very dull if we weren't allowed to comment and give opinion over a period of time and as things change. I'm totally aware that there is time for the situation to change and if we have spent money or got in proven Quality without having to sell then I will post and say so. Will you do similar if our summer acquisitions are underwhelming? I can already predict what the likes of nickg will be saying.

It's a regular refrain from posters. Check the original cms thread or the one about sharp. posters always say there is better available. I hope for our sake it's true.

It's quite amusing when some say what a great player someone is and as soon as they sign for someone else it's what a waste of money they are and how there is better available. Make up your minds!

Plenty of positive things to say. If we sig. Cork this week I will be very happy. Martin and lambert renewing contracts is good and something we needed to do. I still think Adkins needs to prove himself in the transfer market.

Hmm. NA's transfer record has not exactly been great thus far.

It's ridiculous to suggest cork is not a marquee signing. He would be excellent and a statement of intent and ambition. Doesn't look likely though IMO which isn't great. If we go for the npc equivalent of stephens forte and that pants right midfielder then it won't have improved the squad and is not a great start. The main question mark still hanging over Adkins is his ability in the transfer market both to attract the high calibre talents required and to choose the right ones to improve the team.

It's only disappointing if we don't get someone better in. It's a real shame because cms would have been perfect for us with his pace and work rate. I wonder if we are refusing to pay a penny over our valuation and thus players are choosing other clubs who pay that little bit extra in terms of wages or fees. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing tbh. Sometimes when you really want a player you have to go a little higher in order to tempt them over the others. I hope we are prepared to do that if needed. For the record, nugget would not be a better signing than cms at all.

Tbf your title says about the spine of the team an then you go and talk about something else. IMO the flanks are where we are strongest and it is the spine that needs strengthening. Most people agree that we need quality upgrades for jaidi and Hammond and a fast proven striker to play with lambert. Get them and I think we will have a good season.

I post plenty of positive stuff. If we had signed sharp or cork I would have been extremely positive (we still may do.) until that day comes however I will still say it as I see it.
