Sounds like you would have had a better time where I was. I think this sort of thing proves that no one can definitively judge the atmosphere because it is different depending on where they are sitting.
-
FFS if there are not microphones to pick up the noise then you will not hear the noise. FFS what part of that do you find difficult to comprehend? I was in the stand and trust me it was loud.
-
There was constant singing where I was and I haven't heard it much louder. Maybe because I was singing the whole time so I didn't have a chance to listen to our fans.
-
Part of that was because of the pressure of the situation. Of course people are going to be more frustrated when someone does something stupid against the skates. I'm sure the players understood before the game that the fans would be less understanding. Guly was terrible and I swore at him after he had given it away for about the fifth time. It's the skates FFS we don't need that sh*t from a player.
-
So really you can't give an objective view on the support at all. You say the skates were loud but from where I was you could barely hear them .
-
A very small minority are blaming him completely for the draw, though he contributed a significant part. He was very poor today though, our worst player by quite a difference and didn't show the same desire as the others.
-
Amazingly I totally agree with you. I'm not sure why some posters feel that you are not allowed to criticise a player. What does being top of the league or previous good performances have to do with this performance that was very poor?
-
Been around longer than I thought then! He really is a Southampton legend and a surprising amount of people know who he is!
-
THE TV GIVES A DISTORTED REALITY OF THE GAME. The microphones were not situated near the away fans. You are a mong in my opinion if you think that sitting quietly in the home end is the second best way to experience the game after sitting in the away end.
-
FFS. Why is giving justifiable criticism to a player after a bad performance hurling abuse because it is fashionable? A player is not immune from criticism after a poor performance!
-
I'm not sure why you think that sitting quietly in the home end is preferable to watching it on the TV. For me it is infinitely preferable. You say you would never miss it, but in reality you did pretty much considering you had to basically sit on your hands for the entire game. From the away end, 100% of home support was disappointing. Your lad persona is tiresome.
-
Plus his 'lad' status would have elevated our support to another level. What a pity.
-
Of course. I said to all those who paid the skates money and then sat in their home and and contributed nothing to the atmosphere. London games are utterly different. By all means sit in the home end at some games but this is the derby game. It's completely different.
-
What is wrong with giving praise where it is due and also criticising when due? Previous good peformances doesn't make him immune from criticism when he has an awful game, particularly when that awful game is against Portsmouth.
-
Just watched it on TV and it gives an extremely distorted view of the reality.
-
Up the saints who were in the away end and sang proudly. To all the saints fans who paid money to the skates to sit quietly in the home end and provide nothing towards the atmosphere I say you are idiots.
-
Yes actually. I fail to see how sitting quietly with the enemy in their ground and giving them money to do so is better than watching it on TV.
-
No chance will Beattie be.
-
He may not be a skate, but he is most definitely a w*nker. What sort of bellend goes to their biggest rivals and sits in the home end? I bet he didn't even celebrate the saints goal.
-
Why? Because I think De Ridder has done alright this season? Because I use the evidence of my own eyes from away games I have been to make my own assessments? Not sure why I'm even bothering with you because you are basically saying you are right based on the fact that de ridder did not play in one game. Tool.
-
If he bothered to focus then he would do much better. As I said, he has basically given up.
-
He is supposedly a journalist. Most likely a skate one.
-
I do think some of it was over the top though. Quite a few of the police were just hanging about not doing anything and things like the helicopter were just pointless.
-
That would suggest he is less mentally ill than I thought!
-
Well done to whoever released the flares. Really got the atmosphere going when it went a bit flat.
