No he wasn't saying that like that's a prediction for the amount we would sign. What he's trying to say is that the amount we sign doesn't matter that much to him. Not sure why he's saying that as clearly I would say we need three as a minimum (hopefully not including a cb).
-
Signings in order of importance are Striker AM DM Winger Gk I don't think we will get many of the people in this window, probably two or three. The idea that we are squandering precious resources on another bloody cb is insane. For a club facing relegation we really don't have that terrible a defence unless we decide to play Lyanco for some inexplicable reason. Why haven't we signed a striker yet? Given the mess up in the summer and our situation, we really should have been looking to get one in at the very start of this window and the linger we delay the worse it's going to be. If we fanny about pushing for a cb that we don't need-or even worse recalling one we know is terrible-then my opinion of the club will have got even lower thab it is now.

That's the opposite of reality. We haven't put in any excellent performances bar maybe Chelsea where we were decent and they were poor. Beyond that there's been nothing excellent at all.
-
Everton have their dugouts and we have our groundbreaking light show.
-
I seem to remember loads of people going nuts about that friendly goal he scored as well. Shame he hasn't lived up to anything.
-
Lyanco is appaling. Jones should never play him unless desperate.
-
Agree to disagree then. He has experience in this league and has done well. I'd have preferred him to this bloke at any rate.
-
If Lavia is fit enough for the bench then he should be starting.
-
Yes because he's a better option than what we got and he could possibly keep us up. A bit like when we appointed Hughes who kept us up but I don't think anyone actually wanted him as first choice.
-
I don't think anyone actively wants Dyche, they have just said he would have been a better option than this bloke.
-
I don't understand how Lyanco starts in that team. Bizarre.
-
Even if we sell Salisu, Bednarek is very much not the answer.
-
When we signed him I thought it was a pretty good deal for a backup CB on the cheap with a bit of potential. I never for a moment thought he'd morph into being our first choice cb. The idea that we are possibly bringing him back is amazing when you consider we have Salisu, DCC and Bella Kotchap who are all clearly better than him and then maybe even Lyanco who at least has a better attitude. It really makes us look desperate and the only thing I can think is that we have one eye on the championship next year where he could probably do a job. Grim.

I breathed a sigh of relief when we sacked off that numpty. Only saints would flush a turd and then go rooting around in the pipe to try and make it reappear.
-
He didn't say that he said it was the last area that needed strengthening and he's right. We have a finite amount of money and resources to strengthen in January and it's DM, AM, striker or two and then maybe a winger if we get that far. We should have enough at the back to survive if we improve the rest.
-
Agreed that's a much better team than a by we have put out recently. We need to know the status of Lavia, it is key to doing anything this year.
-
Still amazed that we went into the season thinking this was an acceptable set of attacking players.
-
Good point! Not sure who else we could play to be honest. Armstrong maybe?
-
Indeed. Players are paid to do what they're told to the best of their ability.
-
If it's a back three then the team has to be Bazunu/Mccarthy KWP Bella-Kotchap DCC Salisu Perraud Lavia JWP Edozie Adams We would still probably lose but that's the team we should play.
-
Cup win and relegation easily. We've stunk out the prem for years now and if we stay up I don't have much hope that would change any time soon.
-
Personally I think it's quite likely that January signings won't make enough of a difference but if we are really going to give it a go then I'd really like to see us go for two strikers-one older and experienced with presence and most of our budget on as good quality a striker as we can afford. We obviously need something more at cm and we need an attacking midfielder and possibly a winger. It seems we want something else in defence but I assume that's a Salisu replacement. So really if we do actually want to give it a good go and maybe actually stay up then that's five or maybe even six players required. I don't think we will get anywhere near that amount but that's what it would take imo.

If we get humped at Fulham and then against forest I'd be interested to see what they do. Probably nothing.

Aribo another horrific car crash of a signing. Just terrible. -
Rate Saints business in the Summer 2022 Transfer Window

The window was awful because the absolutely crucial signing we needed we didn't get. I said as much at the time. Also signing Bazunu was idiotic considering the keepers that were available. Building the team around an inexperienced young keeper is an awful idea.
