I think it's more the case that this was a nice bit of virtue signalling from Virgin. They do it to much fanfare in countries where they can get away with it but when it comes actually standing up and having principles and possibly paying a real economic or other sort of cost they fold like a house of cards. Kind of suggests it wasn't about promoting minority rights at all. Sort of like when Disney release their films with black actors obscured on the film posters or cut out scenes of blokes kissing in the middle east.

We can if we get in another established striker. Personally I'm hoping for a creative midfielder, two strikers and a cm. Probably unlikely in January but you never know.
-
You can get somewhere that's alright for less than £300K.

It was very long and the athletic reporter on twitter has a summary. Wants us to be a front foot aggressive team, was honest about fans possibly having reservations about him. I thought he seemed very authentic and not just giving answers he should say but things he really believes. It was refreshing to get less scripted or moderated comments I thought. I can see parallels between the job he did at Luton and what they want to do with us in the prem. The main thing is if he has time to implement it whilst keeping us up this year.

Despite my reservations, that was a very impressive press conference. I can see a way that this could work out. It might not but its a good start.

Do you want Nathan Jones to Manage Southampton Football Club?

Obligatory Kirk from Coronation Street photo. -
Definitely need a romeu replacement in the middle, creativity in attacking areas and I'd say a big strong lad who can finish up top.
-
Who do we think could fit in with the mentality he's looking for? I'd say we have quite a few hard workers who are more limited in other areas.

I'm very pleased we've got a new manager which should have happened a lot earlier. The good news is we have time to sort things out. I liked the interview he's done and thought he came accross well talking about a clear identity which we needed and after Ralph and his man management issues, an arm around the shoulder type guy could be just what we need. I know it's a silly thing but I like the fact that English is his first language so it's less likely that things will be misinterpreted and he can articulate himself well. It remains to be seen whether he is good enough tactically and whether he has enough of a presence to inspire the players and that is a bit of a worry. His lack of prem experience is another potential issue. Praying he does enough to keep us up with reinforcements in January (early please.) I'm excited to see if he changes things up early if it's not working, if he can show he has a plan b and c and if he can instill a bit of hardiness and steel into the mentality of the players that we've really been lacking under Ralph in recent years. Best of luck to him.

He mentioned God in his interview. Some people will be furious!

Looks like we're going all in on this guy. It better pay off or that's an expensive mistake! -
Really hope he does well but it's a hell of a risk. Given the position we are in, we can't really give him time to settle. He needs to have a positive impact immediately. My gut feeling is this won't work. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I seem to remember you were openly mocking people like me who pointed out how ridiculous it was that we hadn't strengthened in attack sufficiently.
-
What a bizarre thing to worry about. He coukd be a satanist if he is a success on the pitch. Being a Christian shouldn't detract from his job in the slightest.
-
Whilst I'm pleased Ralph has finally gone, this looks quite underwhelming. What makes this bloke any better than Adkins?

Personally I think it's hilarious that so many people are talking about hkw obvious it is that we needed a plan b or c or how clear it was that we messed up badly in the summer. How many people were actually saying this when the window closed and how many were wanking over the window, saying it was a ten our of ten window and how many were slagging off those who were disillusioned or who said what everyone is saying now in September? Not saying it was you Maggie may, just highlighting the point.

Think we've played well to be honest. Like normal we can't score but still something to build on for the second half. -

We don't have much in the way of alternatives. I'd rather give Walcott a go who may do something than someone I know isn't up to it. Walcott will likely fail as well but I'm happy to give him a chance. -
My relative played for spurs and he isn't a fan.

What an excellent article. They are correct to say the fans have been very patient despite what some try to claim on here.
-
Maybe we could get two in. Whoever we get in I hope we get them in as close to the start of the window as possible. Waiting to the last day or close to it will waste even more time.

I am good friends with a TV producer who has been telling me for about 15 years that of everyone he has worked with, James Corden was the biggest bellend. Used to get people up against the wall in pubs and say things like "do you know who I am?" I'm glad to see some chickens coming home to roost.

Armstrong reminds me of me when I play football. I'm good at winning the ball and a good tackler, but once I have it I tend to panic and normally do something silly. He's just not good enough.
