  1. Jones was a cunt and a raging narcissist . Selles seems like a good bloke who was handed an opportunity that he couldn't say no to but realistically wasn't suited to at that point of the season. I don't really blame the board for that decision either, once Marsch turned us down we didn't really have anyone who fancied it.
  2. Agree with you. Some of the hate on twitter is just plain weird. He seems like a good bloke with some terrible tools and I bet he has a half decent managerial career.
  3. How do you know that Potter hasn't already said he's not interested?
  4. Maybe but none of the experienced managers that have been suggested have been particularly exciting to me. Benitez would be a good choice imo but we obviously aren't going to go for him so it's not really worth a discussion.
  5. So would I to be honest. I just hope they turn out to not be totally and utterly unfit to manage the team like Jones turned out to be pretty much immediately. I'd love it if we unearthed a gem rather than getting a big name in with baggage. That way it seems like we are all going on a journey like Adkins did with us. Let's make Schumacher or Martin a legend rather than simply burnishing the reputations of Lampard, Gerrard or Vieira. I do hope they are tactically solid though and can give us back a defined identity.
  6. Both of them might be OK but I don't really know much about them. In some ways I'd prefer an unknown with less baggage as long as they aren't a racing narcissist like Jones. I would maybe worry though that the job might be a bit big for them. Presumably we'd want then to continue in the prem if we did get promoted and we might end up with an Adkins situation again but without the ruthlessness to sack him and appoibt someone better. Obviously that's a long way down the road but given that we should have about 200 million from sales, we really should be looking for promotion straight away.
  7. The main value for championship clubs I have found has been getting in some older pros or experienced heads on decent wages. We really should be looking at some of those players from the two promoted clubs already (I'm not saying we need him but I note that Ashley Barnes is looking like he's joining Norwich.) Having money gives us options and what I want more than anything is someone with a coherent plan that combines canny free transfers or lower value signings with a couple of big money buys and a sprinkling of youth and experience. Money isn't the issue, it's the plan.
  8. Added to the fact that the week before he posted that ignore list, he had replied to one of my posts directly (as he has done on numerous occasions despite claiming to have me on ignore multiple times. Either he has no willpower and clicks on our posts to read them despite having on ignore, or he added us on ignore just to do the screenshot. Either is pathetic but about what I'd expect.
  9. Seems like a nice guy who is committed. You need more than that to cut it as a manager sadly. I think we need someone with a bit of edge next year that the players will respect but also fear a little bit. They've had it too nice for too long and whoever is left needs to raise their standards.
  10. Is anyone else looking forward to the beginning of next season (which is now really soon by the way) a lot more than the start of this season? I know I am.
  11. If I'm honest, I've expected it more since Semmens said we he truly thought at the fans forum about us being lucky to be here. If that's the mindset coming from the top then it's really only a matter of time before you go down. I think that the club has changed a lot over the last few years and not necessarily in a good way. I think this relegation could be a good thing if it forces them to actually care a bit more about fans and connect with them properly (including the players.) If it wasn't for the chance to win a cup, I wouldn't really care about the prem so much.
  12. I think he has heart, desire and passion which is what you need in a relegation scrap. I'm not sure how useful that is in a promotion push from thew championship where you mostly want steady and stable with a bit of skill and grit thrown in.
  13. We should have gone down the year Swansea fluffed it. The way I see it, we've had a few bonus seasons prior to relegation. If we had stayed up this year we would have had the same issues next year until we went down.
  14. I'm glad I didn't watch any of this. Thank goodness the season is almost over.
  15. That's probably our best lineup tbf. You could quibble about Sulemana but other than that I'm not sure why we haven't played this team more often.
  16. Apologies I didn't know there was a thread already. Very much worth listening to this to remember happier times. Certainly shows what we are missing with our current group of players.
  17. I'm not sure who has watched this, but if you haven't I really would recommend it. Rickie proves what a special player he is, giving insights into his time at the club and what we have now that no fan would disagree with. I 100% agree with him that fans need something to support and that they players have beaten down the fans due to their performances. Good insight into why Poch is so special too and some great little anecdotes.
  18. Forest away when we were already down and potentially playing our last game was quite a low point.
  19. Forest at home was indeed the worst of the season. Loads of bad performances but that is I think the worst I've ever seen and I'd include the 9-0 games.
  20. If I go to St Marys and they have the half time relay on and some overweight supporter trips over, smashes his face on a side barrier and soils himself in the process, I'm going to stop what I'm doing, take an interest in the action and probably point and laugh at the cretin making a fool of himself. Personally I don't think that constitutes being triggered.
  21. Yes that's how I feel. They deserve much criticism for this season but they've also backed us financially. Undeniably that is a positive and it could translate to significant success as long as they get the structure and the decision making in place to make it happen.
  22. I'm hoping it is Wilcox because that will be his job role next year. The alternative would be someone else picking which would be outside of their remit. You have no idea what he would be like in terms of picking a manager and neither do I but I want him picking it because someone else picking would be another sign of dysfunction within the club.
  23. I agree. I wouldn't want him as first choice starter next year but I'd certainly have him in the squad.
  24. Exactly. I bet Burnley owners got similar comments when they got relegated last year. They are now being hailed as brilliant. Sports Republic deserve the chance to show they have learnt precisely because they haven't acted like you described.
  25. Name a football owner that has consistently made money from football without asset stripping? Particularly a smaller club like saints. Doesn't happen.
