When a lot of men get together in a tribal environment and have a few beers with their mates, they tend to regress and do stupid things. Sometimes at the football this will include behaviour such as being boisterous, immature chanting at a number of different groups like the referee, fat fans in the stands, idiot fans in the stands, "hardman" routines, winding up the opposition etc etc. This has always been part of football and for many people it's the main reason they attend. I don't think you will ever be able to get rid of that element within football and for a lot of people it would make the atmosphere suffer even further.

I presume you will be supporting this stance by rocking up to Sainsburys this afternoon with your todger out?

I think perhaps you just can' understand it because you don't think in the same way. My suspicion is that 99% of the men reading this would think the same way as me even if they don't admit it. Happy to put my hands up if proven wrong though. Personally I think women who work in football and pose in glamour mags (and even ones that don't.) will just have to accept that on some occasions they might get a few chants aimed in their direction. Unless we are talking people being banned from stadiums for singing "get your tits out for the lads" which IMO would be a ridiculous overreaction. If someone- be they male or female- is too delicate to handle a few chants in their direction ("slapper in the pink" "you fat b*stard" etc) then they shouldn't be working or attending football. That isn't to say that there isn't a line but IMO the vast majority know where that line is.

I like sex but I wouldn't want my relatives or my daughter if I ever have one to pose in a glamour mag. I don't gain respect for porn stars for example. Pondlife like Jordan don't gain my respect because she has made a living out of getting her surgically enhanced baps out at every opportunity. I work almost solely with women on a daily basis and I respect those who do their job well and who contribute to life and society. My respect for them isn't going to increase if I found out one of them was in a glamour magazine.

Well tbf if he moves to a massive club then he is pretty much guaranteed to win a trophy. I think what someone means by that is he deserves to be somewhere with other world class players where he will win multiple trophies. That probably isn't going to happen here sadly so I would be inclined to agree

IMO if you are sexualising yourself in a glamour mag then you shouldn't be that surprised when lads in a pack environment at the football after a few beers sing chants to you about getting your tits out. I'm not going to gain respect for someone who poses barely clothes in a magazine which lets be honest is almost solely for the sexual gratification of men. It's people coming into an environment where they know the score (they might get a few chants about getting their baps out) and then get all offended by it. What did they expect? It's like a bloke showing up at a magic mike show with a load of hen parties and then getting offended when they start talking about cock or a blokes body.

Sounds like a dream sporting occasion. Would this be something like the netball world championships?

I'm sorry but . You have no hope of understanding how a bloke works with posts like that. Dearie me. No bloke is going to see some shots of a girl almost with her norks out and gain respect for her. It doesn't work like that.

Well this thread has taken an unexpected upturn.

Come on mate let's be realistic about it. We can only keep certain players up to a point. Most have accepted that Morgan and Clyne are off in the summer but most also hope that we can find similar success with their replacements like last summer. That's just the way football works now.

You will always get chants at the football, just like referee gets called all sorts, ginger players get a bit of banter, short players etc etc. I'm not saying some of the over the top stuff is good but I don't for a minute believe it is as widespread as the media make out. Part of the problem is the novelty value of having a woman there sort of what the reaction was like when we had the white spray from earlier in the season. If you had a couple of female assistants at a match then I don't think you would get nearly as much because they won't stick out as much. Anyway in conclusion it's not a serious and widespread issue.
-
What's also amusing is that the same media reporting this story is the one who made a big deal put of the sexy Mansfield chief exec. You can't have it both ways!
-
Turn to get all up in arms about intolerance in football when in reality it's either one or two idiots or a "humorous" bit of terrace banter. Football has jot got worse at all in this respect (in fact in this country it is miles better) but you wouldn't know that if you just read the media because it's the latest hot topic. Widespread racism, Sexism and anti semitism does not exist in UK football, no matter how much the UK media wished it did.

Now the Jewish and black spokespeople have had a turn it's time for the women. Have we got any other minorities we can go to for a quote? Mexicans maybe? Or fat people?

I think the main thing to take away from this game is that Gape should be tried out with the big boys.
-
I'll take that as a yes then.
-
Are you a fan of Gape?
-
I found him on the second line. I think you were looking at Lovren.

Even when it was the bears I knew it was them.

Yeah but it's hardly surprising to hear opinions on immigrants on a thread about erm immigrants.

If only all the bystanders and the homeless bloke had owned guns. Then they could have shot the policemen. USA! USA!

But of an odd thing to say when that's what the original post was about. It's a bit like going to the main board and writing "saints saints saints change the record."

You should know. What with all your journo contacts.

I agree and no reason that some of the more useful bits of the EU such as the ease of getting around Europe cannot be kept in place.
