To be fair, I'm not entirely sure you can get legal aid for a libel defence, which is a civil matter rather than a criminal one.

And of course if everything he said about Najadi was true and he had access to the supporting evidence, why would he remove the offending article? Libel is only libel if you cannot prove that what you have written is true.
