Game's off now, for some reason the pitch the opposition booked was (at best) 7 or 8-a-side. We will instead be having something resembling a training session at Millbrook Rec (next to Goals), also starting at 11am.

It's at times like this I'm even more ****ed off that I'm currently sat about 2 miles from the Oval but can't even watch it on TV, let alone be in the ground...

Certainly wasn't expecting that. Cracking fightback from a seemingly lost cause. Makes the table look a hell of a lot better as well: 1. Somerset 12 146 2. Nottinghamshire 12.5 145 3. Durham 12 139 4. Hampshire 14 138 5. Kent 12.5 136 6. Lancashire 12.5 126 7. Sussex 12.5 129 8. Yorkshire 12.5 124 9. Surrey 12.5 106

I had to say something about some form of cricket so felt it was best to jinx the already-comfortable England team...
-
Portsmouth v Vitoria Guimaraes (Portugal) Not the easiest, but they'll expect to beat them over two legs.
-
SA win the toss and field first. England off to a flyer, 99/0 from the first 15 overs, Bell reaching 50 off 36 balls (currently 62 not out) and Prior 33 not out.

Full system scan came back clean. Wouldn't worry too much...

I've already restarted my PC this morning after visiting PO to see what the fuss was all about, and nothing bad happened. I am running a full system scan using McAfee Total Protection just in case though

Not yet it's not. They have to get through the first round before it becomes a group stage.

An irritatingly addictive cricket game: http://www.foddy.net/Cricket.html Although probably not in the same league as Stick Cricket, mind you...

Yep, we're screwed. Oh well, should win a few games next season in Div 2...
-
179 all out, leaving 240 to win. Tough ask, although given that their last two wickets added 63 to the total, it's not a lost cause yet.

Keeping tabs on the other games... as I mentioned yesterday the forecast for Manchester was more rain today (who'd have thought it ) and that's how it's proved with play already abandoned for the day, so neither side has any points at all yet. Kent were bowled out for 227 by Yorkshire, who are 223/3 in reply. Sussex managed 339, while Nottinghamshire are 37/0 in reply. All of which leaves the table as follows: 1. Somerset 12 146 2. Nottinghamshire 12.5 140 3. Durham 11.5 139 4. Kent 12.5 135 5. Sussex 12.5 128 6. Lancashire 12.5 126 7. Hampshire 13.5 124 8. Yorkshire 12.5 120 9. Surrey 12.5 106

If you'd bought them in plenty of time, they would have been £8. Or even as little as £3 if you're a student.

Only the two days behind, mate http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=948 Edit: glad to see Setanta are up with the times as well

2000 called and asked for its news back

Yep. If at all possible, do not accept or reject anything in this meeting. Make it clear that you wish to have time to read through their offer carefully and that you wish to discuss it with an employment solicitor. They may even offer to pay for this (can be quite expensive - I [or rather my former employer] paid £300+vat for 2 hours' work) to ensure that there is no scope for any claim after you've signed it.

Isn't that a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face, though? You won't buy a season ticket (which saves YOU money) which I guess you've had for many years because of the board, and yet you'll go anyway because you don't go to watch the board... The word "principles" continues to be thrown around on here, with people claiming they have "principles" because they won't support the club financially so long as Lowe is chairman and blame him for people losing their jobs, and yet the very thing that would probably keep those people in their jobs is the paying support of the fans! It's just a vicious circle. For the record, if people can't go anymore because of financial pressures, work, distance or things like that, fine by me, not a problem. If people are choosing not to go because they don't want to watch Championship football, also fine, as long as you actually state as much rather than hiding behind feeble excuses. If people are seriously choosing not to go because of who is chairman (despite having continued to go under his chairmanship when we were in the top 10 in the Premier League), I think that's quite sad. Entirely up to you, of course, but I won't be at all surprised to see those "principles" go flying straight out of the window if we end up having a successful season.

To be fair, this is one thing that Apple has got right. The majority of Java applets that sit on websites are poorly written with no "garbage collection" and as such end up consuming astronomical amounts of memory. Oh, and "most websites" don't use Java. They might use JavaScript, but that's an ENTIRELY different kettle of fish

It's also why Kevin Phillips signed for us despite his basic salary being cut in half.

65/6. Quite impressive given that we were 65/2...
