Cheltenham Festival 18th March thread....Oh no !
notnowcato replied to chrisobee's topic in General Sports
I hate reading aftertimers but I did have little on Big Zeb, still took a battering though. 1.30 Rivaliste (win) - very well in, Nicholls has set this race up. 2.05 Alfie Sherrin (win) - looked really green lto at Newbury but still won with plenty in hand. Kayf Aramis (e/w). 2.40 Poquelin - everything in it's favour today. 3.20 Karabak (win) and Sentry Duty (win) 4.00 Watch My Back (win) and Sunnyhillboy (win) Still looking at the last -
Anyone heading up from Brighton or local should take advantage of the discount deal Southern Rail are running. All Day travelcard zones 1-6 from Brighton £12 - bargain! I'm not an agent. Subject to Terms and Conditions.

Swerve a Cheltenham race?? You are probably right. Therefore.... 4.40 Hunterview win and Fin Vin de Leu e/w. As for the Bumper, think I'll just back the Irish fave.

All set for another competitive, top quality day of racing. Quevega and Chief Dan George were results in an otherwise tough day. 1.30 Pennek e/w 2.05 Quel Espirit win and The Knoxs e/w 2.40 Citizen Vic e/w 3.20 Master Minded 4.00 Shadow Dancer and Silverhand e/w Will run through the last 2 races later, had enough of big fields for the moment! The RSA is cracking race, question marks over most. I like the profile of Vic. Master Minded would be 1/2 if Dunguib and Go Native had gone in yesterday and therefore rates a max bet. Silverhand in the Coral seems to be overlooked, big price on Betfair. Form behind Khyber Kim lto at Chelters is none too shabby, dropped a couple lb from that and put away until today - cracking weight, ideal going, goes well fresh and top jockey. Best of luck.

Head just above water with Chief George Dan obliging. Been a tough day. Hats off to Binocular, a deserving champion. Monkerhostin in the mickey mouse cross country. Quevega in the last. Good luck all.

Woolcombe Folly to place in the Arkle. Quevega in the Mares Hurdle.
-
Supreme - i have fancy odds on Oscar Whiskey and will lay that back tomorrow and shovel it on Dunguib. Arkle - Somersby. William Hill - The Package. Chief George Dan to place. Champion Hurdle - Awesome race. Think I have it covered with Go Native, Punjabi and Celestial Halo. Other races to be studied tomorrow.

Fast forward to Tuesday please!!

Very nice touch! I had a lucky one this week. Backed Woolston Ferry on Wednesday, meant to take the 8's on Betfair but clicked the wrong button and selected SP. Went off at 24 and took the spoils. That's the Cheltenham play money sorted.
-
Is that any different to previous weeks??
-
Also strong stats against horses that have not raced in that calendar year, 5 year olds and Supreme winners.... wont put me off Go Native though :yawinkle:
-
It's that time again!! The Champion Hurdle is a total conumdrum, brilliant race in the making. I've backed Celestial Halo and Punjabi and will back Go Native on the day. Will be surprised if the winner is not amongst those 3. Celestial is still good value at 14 on Betfair. I think Dunguib is a good thing in the opener but will wager on Oscar Whiskey to upset the Irish. I'm trying to dig out some place value on the World Hurdle, I might have one but it is also declared in another Festival race so will wait and see. I was firmly in the Denman camp prior to Newbury, now I'm not so sure.

I'm in the cheap seats, in the corner, with the gods... do I care??
-
No administration, no 10 point deduction, no permanent removal of Lowe, no takeover by Swiss billionaire. Yep, I'm right distressed by this non-news.
-
Attractive?? Do they have to be attractive? All sounds a bit flouncy to me. For me the Gaga is not "attractive" but I could certainly rattle her bones, same goes for Pammy her rhectum scale would be off the chart.
-
Practically a new side on the pitch and we're "penny pinching"? Whose to know who our real targets were and maybe we actually ended up getting the players we wanted on the cheap. If so, fantastic.
-
I'm surprised by the vitriol on this thread. Did the charity know that a major part of the local media were banned from SMS? Surely SMS management should have made it clear to the charity who booked SMS for a media event that the DE would not be allowed on the premises. I have to ask why we would stop media coverage of a very worthwhile cause? Also, this will I presume effect further bookings of media events at our suites. The "spat" should be football related only. Personally I think both sides are behaving like children here.

Play offs. No doubt. I'd accept a five nil drubbing from the few if it meant we were guaranteed a play off position.
-
Maybe not a cheap shot but without doubt a cheap cliche. Don't mistake smoke for steam coming from bull sh*t.
-
Partly right but also wildely wrong. We gambled massively in the play off season, it backfired and from that point we were f**ked.

Good manager. Has the pedigree to succeed at Reading.
