AA and Rothwell have played themselves out of contention, expect Stephens to return to cope with the battle and release KWP to play higher, ideally alongside Brooks, who should be fit enough to start - those 2 on the right is embarrassingly good and if they strike up a partnership will be very profitable for us. Rest Stu for this, with a midfield 3 of Downes, Aribo and Smallbone. Wee Man and Che (just) to complete the front 3 with Brooks.

Yeah, it's really unlikely that he could be saying one thing to the media and something completely different in the dressing room.... that's never happened in football before.

As poor as we were in the first half we shot ourselves in the foot by missing a glorious chance in the 11th minute and gifting them their 2nd goal. Suspect Rothwell may be on the bench for a while, shows glimpses of quality but looks horribly off the pace and his touch still looks rusty. I can understand rotating players whilst we’re playing twice a week but that wouldn’t apply to Manning returning for Stephens. Poor first half, better second half, fair but disappointing result.

Will be disappointed if we don’t get some response in the 2nd half.

Yeah, Mara was really shit when he came off the bench against Huddersfield with the score at 3-3, he should've provided so much more than a goal and an assist.

This type of what-iffery could be applied to every decision made. I don't recall many complaining at the time that selling Tella for £25m was going to be the difference between promotion or not.

Agreed that our build up play through the first two thirds, where a 6 is influential, was not at its usual high standard but we were also below par in the final third; can’t remember us looking that poor up top for a while. The performance worried me but given what we’ve seen since October up to Huddersfield I’d back the team to bounce back.

I’m not certain that had Downes played on Tuesday that all would’ve been well. He’s clearly a top player for us but so many of those that started and came on were off their game. No doubt the staff know of many formations that they could switch to but for me we gave the ball away too easily in situations you’d expect us to retain control, that was apparent all over the pitch.

With one day to implement before our next match? No.

Not sufficient time to change formation, not that I would advocate that anyway. The Brizzle game we didn't control the midfield, we can put that down to key players missing, new players involved, strong game by our opponent. We have to look after the ball so much better than we did last night.
