  1. IMO, This year has seen two clubs buck a trend and actually use the parachute payments in the right way, By these I mean Birmingham and Reading, they're both competing at the top
  2. Bucket collections every game at SMS? if an attendance of £17k show up and all pay a quid, we could pay Skacel's and Saganowski's wages effectively for that one week ;-p
  3. From my limited knowledge of broadcasting rights, I believe the ''pot'' that is available from the Coca Cola leagues is split 70% Championship, 18% League 1 and 12% League two. Say we're getting just over £2m now, that would be reduced to around 500k in L1, Not as massive as the drop from Prem to Champ, but you get two years (well we did anyhow) of £7m parachute payments. We can't really afford to lose another £1.5m per season, because then we will be well and truly f*cked and have to sell to survive.
  4. Another bit of sense. If these people can't work together, then we could be ****ed. What would happen, say, if Leon turned up tomorrow with £2m and said, right, this is for you, on the one proviso that you give me a place with you guys on the board and that we can forget our squabbles and all three of us can make the decisions between us what is right for the club. All three of us have made little f*ck ups along the way, why can't we all work together to restore this great club, then squabble over it as soon as it is safe? Or, MW to finally put a million or two in which Crouch sticks to his promises and puts the same in, just to stave off administration? Sadly, the likelyhood of this happening is little to none, but its the prefect scenario IMO Chris
  5. F*ck me, Never thought I'd ever agree with you!
  6. Farthers day or Fathers day? Get it right if you're going to try a gag ;-p
  7. Where were you sat? I can understand if you were in the middle and you're not seeing the back, but I was at the back near Steve and would say that at most, 50-60ish people stood up, (remember at the back, you can see EVERYONE!) and there was at LEAST 200 there. so to me thats only about 25-30% But hey, if we were both in the room and see things differently, what can you do eh?!
  8. /Mother/Auntie/Great Nan* * Delete as applicable?!
  9. AlfredKO, a response for you to mull over In away games you go there and they (the home team) expect you to go there for a point, we seem to attack, scaring the home team into submission. Its worked well so far this season When we play at SMS, they come with a shut shop, absorb as much as they can take, knacker us and hit us on the break. How many timesthis season have we heard ''saints unlucky to lose'' A lot.
  10. How about this one... Bloke on holiday goes into an Amsterdam brothel and asks for the fattest ugliest girl they have with the saggiest t*ts and a f*nny like a ripped out fireplace. The madam said, ''Feeling kinky tonight sir'' He replied, "No I'm from Portsmouth and I'm homesick"
  11. Can I just weigh in with one more suggestion, Paul Tisdale Whoever's said Peter Taylor, thats a shout and a half. Especially as I go to Uni in Wycombe and i'm working with the club at the moment to help my write my Dissertation! But the Wycombe job isn't easy, they need to sell before doing anything, so its effectively a shoestring they're working on there! Also Martin Allen and Danny Wilson could be worth a go, and these could fall within our ''price range''
  12. Baj would book me for saying ''Barge'' too loud!
  13. Me too, I only noticed the bit about Barings last night.
  14. Hoddle is someone i'd love, however he would need a season, thats the only problem. He was a fantastic manager down here, and ground out a lot of 1-0's and 2-0's and built from the back. He'd need a transfer window to get in some experience on the cheap. That, we don't have. From the above list, and being a Saints fans we can't be fussy, nor can we afford much, thats the main thing we need to bear in mind. So, we can't and won't afford Ince, Keane, Shearer, Keegan. Dowie would do the job, but don't reckon he'd be the right man. Boothroyd did exactly the same (young team) as this at Watford this year, and what has happened to him? Holloway would be the right ''kick up the arse'' choice and could fit within our price range. Can't really say much more that that.
  15. C&G Trophy?
  16. Setting fire to stuff. that is soooooooo 2007
  17. Expect that the pub was only seeing trade on a matchday, which wasn't being seen as a profitable occasion as anything that was made wasn't being sustainable.
  18. 21st March (Saints are playing Blackpool, pending game being switched for tv...) I've just had a phone call from Andy (some of you guys will know him) and basically he's said, if they'res ten or more of us that fancy going for a weekender, he can A, get a hold of a minibus, and B, drive it if we so desire him to, for about £25-30 per head Does anyone fancy pulling a weekender in Blackpool? Go up friday come back Saturday after the game or Sunday morning depending on money situations..
  19. I was in there last Sunday after the Man Utd game, Always got on Superbly with Trev and Jacqui as they were lovely people, and i've known them since I was about 16. I do hope there will be a way for this pub to rise again because this couldn't have happened to nicer people.
