Hodgson thought Johnson and Walker were his best options last season; no argument there, but now he has neither and Chambers is the obvious choice to come in. He can also play multiple positions. You need to remember that MP preferred Chambers to Clyne last season in a lot of games.. he's better positionally and anticipates danger. Clyne reacts to situations and was partly culpable for both Liverpool goals.

JWP is nowhere near good enough for an International call-up.. hardly good enough to be in our team. Chambers would have been called up irrespective... there is a severe lack of football nous on here... Chambers was a class act last season and his speed of thought and versatility makes him an obvious choice for the England squad. Clyne is great going forward but is reactive rather than anticipative defensively, plus he lacks aerial ability.

In your opinion... but I see a different Chambers than you and he would be as good a RB as England have right now.

No surprise Chambers has been selected... class act at RB last season and was in most pundits future England team even before he left for Arsenal.

Fine... agree to disagree.. on the positive side, we have options in midfield for Koeman to choose from... not so in other areas, especially offensively.. would like to see a team with both Tadic and Ramirez to see if we create more openings for Pelle.

I would agree we don't necessarily need Wanyama against lower division teams.. but in the EPL I think he needs to be In.. we look defensively much better with the beast in front of the back four

Wanyama has been our best player in both games to date... now you want to drop him...

I think Plan B was Pelle to score a goal... but he had a lot of chances so at least he's getting into scoring positions

At fault for the 3rd goal... but defending with Gerrard in front of you is slightly different to defending with Wanyama in front of you.

One difference.. Lambert read the flight of the long ball early and used his strength to hold the ball up. Pelle needs to improve that skill. Agree on the second point; but we are expecting too much of Pelle to see him as a direct Lambert replacement. I must say though, I thought Pelle would be quicker to fit in with a more direct style under Koeman.

I think the part of the brain that rationally assesses the implications of selling our best 5 players, is missing from VW. Maybe it will take Schneiderlin and Cork to depart for it to kick in.
