Midfield lacking so far. Not sure who is meant to be defensive midfield but there is a hole in there. And no-one in a position to link the attack line Mane can.
I think he played his best position today. Too many times he's been asked to be the advancing attacking midfield player. He's better off sitting back and spraying the ball around the pitch.
Hmm. So given some inaccuracies is it fair to say we are probably breaking even? Certainly not that much in the plus though. But then you have the TV money coming in so I wonder where all those apparent mega millions went?
http://www.transferleague.co.uk/southampton/english-football-teams/southampton-transfers This was my source. Not sure about accuracy? When we first came up we spent a lot on the squad including 2 high profile signings in Ramirez and Osvaldo which was money thrown away..
Since we returned to the Premiership (4 years) we are operating at minus £30m transfer dealings despite big sales of the last 2 years. The TV money covers some of that, but how much is left over really?
If I read it correct. According to http://www.transferleague.co.uk/southampton/english-football-teams/southampton-transfers
We are currently running at a £30 million loss from player sales alone since we got back in the Premiership despite all the expensive sales. Unfortunately our most high profile signings (Ramirez and Osvaldo) have not paid off (someone made a mistake somewhere) and we are being punished for that now.
He seems to have lost a bit of pace, a bit of alertness. Always seems the wrong side of the defender.
But then a lot of his mates have been sold. All of them, in fact.
JWP is set up to fail. He's given a big role in the team, that doesn't fit him (creative central mid) and expected to delivery despite his age. Koeman should have played Tadic from the start.
Koeman's fault again. That and too many new/inexperienced players. No-one in there capable of taking the game by the scruff of the neck. Can't expect JWP to do that.
