  1. There has been a lot of hysterical reaction to an unsubstantiated Echo rumour. Yes, he may have gobbed off to a paper. Yes, he may have been fined. But at this moment in time, he is a Saints player - quite a good one, actually. So until he leaves, or his performances on the pitch make us question his comittment, we should give him our support. After all, who benefits the most from the Echo publishing this article?
  2. As long as he's fit, I think Barney will do OK in the Championship. He has a goalscorer's nous, he knows where to put himself in front of goal.
  3. "On the 19th July 2011, it was announced Puncheon's agent had accepted a bid from Hull City and that they were in the latter stages of agreeing a deal for the winger. It is widely thought 'The Tiger's' manager Pearson projected the idea after hearing a local teen repeatedly say Puncheon's name in a pre-season friendly match against a local club." This is from Wikipedia, so it must be a wind-up, but it's quite funny!
  4. Likewise. This whole thing doesn't make sense. If he has a seriously bad attitude and has caused problems, then why was he playing tonight? I think the most likely reason is, as another posted has said, to impress scouts. Or could it be so that he knows who's the boss and he will get a squad number if no club comes in with a good enough offer? Time will tell.
  5. Well he doesn't have a squad number, so he must be going somewhere.
  6. Confirms my impression of the bloke - I am very glad we are all on the bus. I think he will turn out to be a true Saints legend.
  7. I have heard that Mr. Puncheon has been causing problems on the training ground - a punch-up with coaching staff? Is this just a fishy wind-up, or can anyone confirm what actually happened?
  8. ...but they are not offering a lot, apparently. Would you let him go for £400k?
  9. He might be if Coventry can't pay the wages!
  10. Leeds will lose their first game! Leicester, Ipswich, West Ham and Birmingham will be hard to beat. Blackpool will be in with a shout. Coventry and Crystal Palace will struggle. Beyond that, it is hard to say. I think we are in for a top ten finish and that it could be goal difference between tenth and a play off place.
  11. He could sub for Jaidi when he gets knackered!
  12. Indeed. Coventry have just announced that takeover talks have stalled. I know how their fans must be feeling... Still, if we can grab a bargain then they have one or two players WCDAJFU. Lukas Jutkiewicz, as mentioned above, would fit in.
  13. Thank you! Like I said, there has been chatter. No one seems to know what Puncheon's up to, however.
  14. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose!
  15. Now where was I? Oh yes, Coventry City are in deep financial trouble still and some players have been told they might be sold, apparently. One of them is Martin Cranie, CHDAJFU?
  16. Yeah, I know, but I don't think that one mentions Liam Lawrence. OK, I give up - lock this thread!
  17. Ha ha mods! You were very quick to change the title thread. I thought mine was much more coy and inviting...
  18. ...Jason Puncheon. He hasn't travelled to Switzerland and there is chatter about him training with the youth teams. Anybody seen him? Apparently, he is admired by the fish fingerers and they would like him down at Nottarf Krap. They might even give us Liam Lawrence in PX. CHDAJFU?
  19. He'd better watch out for the latest Academy signing!
  20. Funny isn't it - the rumours have virtually dried up since the team left for Switzerland. I wonder where they come from!
  21. Does anyone know who's playing the music on the Saints Player vids? Whoever it is, they are pretty handy with a bottleneck.
  22. Must remember not to do this at the Falmer Stadium!
  23. Thanks Battersea Saint, you have said what I was trying to say only you have said it better (well, it was late when I posted). It's a shame hypo has been banned, as I tend to agree with his point, even if he did go a bit over the top. I wonder if he'd been on the sauce? I suspect a few posts on here have been well fueled - they never look quite as funny or perceptive the next day!
  24. There are very many rumours around at the moment, some founded in truth, others started by agents. Some my be started by employees of football clubs and others are the work of fanatsists, WUMs and people who should get out more. I would like to think I can spot the latter and pick out the entirely plausible from the former. Not so, apparently. It is beyond those that post on here to discuss the relative merits of a number of different rumours that are circulating, each needs its own separate piece of cyberspace. The upshot is that we now have a large number of threads which I expect few people will bother to read, so much for free speech. There is an irony, too, that none of these separate threads may not have any more truth in them than the original big thread and I suspect that fewer people will read the diverse threads. If you don't like a thread, don't read it or pass over the posters you don't like. Moderators, it is your job to nudge people in the right direction if you do not like where a thread is heading. Locking it is not the only option open to you. What has happened tonight could be a turning point in the life of Sainsweb. Let's not make it it the first step towards its demise.
