It is an animated entertainment intended for kids but created by adults with, perhaps, some substances on their mind - the kids love it! I just hope that the architects of SFC's future are of a sounder mind than the creators of the My little Pony movie. In NC we trust!

Team for Cheltenham..... & Build Up

"On the bench for Saints today are Davis, Martin, Harding, Butterfield, Chamberlain, Doble and Reeves" according to the OS. -
He's had his time here, he's moved on, so have we - end of.

A critical appraisal of the first quarter of the season.

So what's changed? That's what I can't understand. Was it hoofball that suited his style? Is he injured or did Pardew mess with his head pre-season? -
A critical appraisal of the first quarter of the season.

10 points behind the league leaders is not a catastrophic position at this stage of the season and NA seems to be moving things in the right direction. However, last season we were scoring goals and lots of them. This season we can't buy a goal and until that is addressed, mid-table mediocrity will be our lot this season. -
I admire your optimism, that would be some result. I'll happily settle for winning by the odd goal.

Now come on, what's more important, a reasoned debate or a p*ssing contest between posters?

MON. "Wilt" thou be ours? Oh no, It's me that lives in Wilt****, MON lives in Sutton Coldfield which is not in any ****shire! -
NC may have been right, he may have been wrong - I can't make a proper judgement on the facts available publically, so I want events on the pitch today and over the coming weeks turn this week into a small footnote in the history of SFC, it's time to move on. WIFM (and your own self-respect, first team!)

So, NC and AP did not get on... Well, I am sad for AP, I think he would have done the job for us this season. It seems there is plenty of stupidity around wherever you look. I just hope NC has a plan and a replacement in mind, someone who is at ease with the apparent continental style club organisation. However, this quote from the OS is a tacit admission, in my view, that he neither has a plan or a successor in mind and that we might end up with nothing this season: "We recognise that frequent changes to the football management are unlikely to assist in the winning of trophies and promotions. "

Gerard Houlier would like to get back into English football, it seems, perhaps Cortese speaks French as well as Italian and English.

I hear Greg has already got his towel on a sun lounger by the pool...

Good news - I hope this is just the first in a long line. I think the potential to bring on young talent is just one of the things that ML saw and liked in SFC and I am sure it is part of the five year plan. Onwards and upwards back to the promised land!

Official Statement from Cortese about future
Leslie Charteris replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Saints
NC is not without fault, but, he has a plan and he wants to WIFM. Now we should just let the football do the talking and see where we are in two, three or four years time, secure in the knowledge that the future of the club is safe for the forseeable future -
I don't think AP will let this happen. If the players give their all and we still get beaten, then fair enough. He knows his job is on the line and I think he will get rid of anyone who risks our place in the playoffs, at least.

Pardew and board to meet Thursday now...?
Leslie Charteris replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
This was posted on the Daily Mail website article and I couldn't agree more... "Southampton is my place of birth. I've supported the team since I was 5 years old, and I've seen many managers come and go in the 61 years since then. Alan Pardew has lead the club to a 7th place finish, magnifcent when you consider we faced a hard season with the ten point deduction. I see no fault with the manager or players. I only wish the loyalty of the fans, and the efforts of the club, was respected by the owner and the chairman. It appears to me that there is no true love of the game by either of them. We were led to believe they would bring stability to the club after the harrowing time brought to the club by the other "suit" we had to put up with......Rupert Lowe. My belief is that this time next year we will be promoted as champions, it only remains for messres Liebherr and Cortese to show the same amount of faith. - Marilyn, Perth Western Australia," -
AP has carried out a root and branch restructuring of the team, staff, everything. If he goes that will go and we will have to start again which will set us back. I've just been looking back at a league table from the middle of January and Saints have scored more points than any team except Millwall. That is good form and AP deserves to continue the work next season. If the rumour is true, and I really hope not, it says more about NC than AP, and it says to me meglomaniac with a fragile ego and someone, right or wrong, will not countenance arguement or dissent. If AP goes, I sense troubled times ahead or maybe NC will appoint a European noname lapdog (sound familiar?). I have heard Jurgen Klinsmann's name mentioned in dispatches...
-
Nice summary, eelpie -and I agree, when he has his full team out, AP is doing all that can be expected. Please don't make any rash decisions, NC, I've just watched MOTD and there a few Prem teams we could give the runaround to and we have better attendance. "All things come to he who waits."

Oh yes there is!!! I had the stripes etched in my memory from an early age as my Dad was a supporter from the Div 3 days, then there was my first away trip, my first visit to The Dell, all striped red and white. The only other colours could be yellow and blue (1976 ring any bells?) I hated all those kits of the 80s, even if Keegan looked good in the Xerox kit. But I'll go with a special no sponsor kit for next season as long as we get back to a proper kit afterwards.

This is the same Exeter that beat Leeds 2-0 a little while ago, isn't it. I think the JPT final would be a great day out for thousands of people, a little light relief after the recent dark years.
