  2. None of the above
  3. Was it Marks and Spencers at Hedge End ???
  4. Prime example of a player who relyed to much on his associations and let the club down off the field , did not realise how lucky he was to be playing for SFC, shame he did not make full advantage of that luck and put his professon first.
  5. I think we need a structure running through the club that promotes winning, because after all "our plan" is to win ourselves out of this league and into the higher leagues . Winning games upon a consistant basis and getting results is a frame of mind , if you take England for example , look at the difference Capello has made in the minds of the players. Unfortunatly , the "English" managerial system of football is way out of date in todays high profile game , players need to know that the team comes first above all else, hate to say it but Fergie instills this factor into his teams , I really don't see any of the usual suspects maybe (WGs) having the ability to deliver , either 1 of 2 man I'd like to see here , who instills winning as a habit , has the credentials to develop the best out of our squad , has an indepth knowledge of the European network of players is either Horst Hrubesch or Ottmar Hitzfeld all in MHO of course , this idea of a good up and comming manager with some thing to prove is not sustainable and few have made the grade outside of the lower leagues. What any manager of SFC is dealing with now is possibly a large budget , the correct signings are so important , the scouting network must be re-developed along with the youth development programme , we need a manager who is used to working across all of these departments , not some one who got a few extra points on the board for a lower league team , i don't buy the concept that a manager requires lower league experience , what a manager needs is experience of running what can be a top level club
  6. Soon to be seen at Jacksons farm mucking out
  7. Does this take over make a presidence for the Liebherr family and intorduce them to the footballing world. It is true that my family are likely to be interested by this take over , but they are more interested in other sports , especially my brother Hans who enjoys Equestrian events and horses. I have tried to take part in my families interest in horses, but only had a little attempt with small horses and it was not that interesting for me. You are owner of an English club consequently. You are going to change your habits Of course, I am often going to go to the stadium to see the team. But I live in Bulle and I well intend to stay there. I shall perform simply more trips. A bit of history ; At the beginning of week, the businessman living in Bulle therefore decided to take back the English club of Southampton in hand. The sum of 22 millions has it seems been necessary so that he can sit enthroned in the splendid stadium of the south of England. Without direction since the fall of first division in 2005, Southampton, this season, relegated to Division One (3rd division) following the failure of the previous owners, which left a 52,7 million franc debt. Before the arrival of Markus Liebherr, alone the history of the club could therefore be considered an expensive purchase Evolving in Premier League from 1978 till 2005, Southampton carried off famous Cup in 1976. Players as Kevin Keegan, Peter Shilton, Alan Shearer, Peter Crouch or young Theo Walcott besides carries the tradition of this club. It is therefore with the weight of this glorious past that Markus Liebherr is going to try to achieve the aim he has set: to provided the required resources so that it returns to long term safety in Premier League. Which in turn will see his initial investment increase substantially
  8. 61 year old Markus Liebherr has rescued Southampton Football Club , In this interview he gives his reasons for this decision. The Bulle resident expects to return Southampton to the highest league in England. The news has quickly travelled around the English newpapers , the BBC ,Times and various others are wanting to know why a Swiss resident would want to be involved with the purchase , especially as he is more known in the construction industry along with his family, Hans Liebheer , who quietly built up the company until 1993 , and then commenced his own company MALI international , incedently he is the uncle of Christina Liebherr. Markus , why did you go ahead and purchase SFC for a reported 22m swiss francs ? The club was in deep trouble with its finances and someone had to come in and invest. The opportunity was to good to miss , therfore i took advantge and opportunity to purchase a club in the lower leagues , which has got the potential to be back into the English premier league. Without this potential it would have been difficult for me to invest. A swiss person who has taken control of an English football club , this may be a shock / strange decision for many people to understand. No not really , it was a great opportunity that i could not let slip away , as for price , if the club was performing at a higher division it would have cost me a lot more . Prior to being a football club owner , what sports/ foootball interests did you have. I always look out for results of teams that interest me , although I would say that Foootball is not an obsession for me , with me taking over the football club I have the opportunity to ,as a real fan to become fully involved with my interest , but I would say I have to learn in this new venture What are you intentions for the club. That is simple , SFC to regain its stauts among the elite in the English league. This cannot be done quickly and decisions will be made on a sound finincial basis . My aim is to take one stage at a time , with my team we will be engaging with the fans and building a team to achieve each stage of progresson. In your role , will you be making big signings instantly to please the fans, just like the president of Real madrid Well i won't be signing kaka , he is a player on a different level to us , what we will do is progrees to higher divisions step by step , higher divisions require higer level players as our investment will tell Why have you looked at investment in England , and not any Swiss clubs for example In fact , no swiss club was in this situation and if they were no one made it clear to me investment was needed, I looked for other opportunities to invest The take over took a lot longer than expected for you , the supporters were anxious , why did you take on this extra pressure . I know that Southampton club has excellent tradition that has been fortunate to have great players in the past, Supported by many fans and the club has lost it's way over the last few years because to many people were in charge , managers and running the club. Now that I am the only one who is in charge , I can put this club onto the road to sucess. Translate the rest later as having me tea
  9. No he lives in Bulle ..see above posts and yes he is a football fan , don't rely on Google translate , its crap .... read it French and you get the real meanings
  10. Sure i will dig them out , I have been reading the German and Swiss newspapers for several days and its quotes here and there , post the links as i find them if you want
  11. LOL , Markus Lives in Bulle , Switzerland , thats the problem with Google translate it give the translation word for word , read in French as i do and the interview is much more infomed
  12. Announced yesterday i believe
  13. In other quotes in other on line Swiss / German press he claims he always wanting to know results , in the German league and followed the under 21 tournament with interest , so he's a fan of Football
  14. I think Markus had his eye on us for a while , if I translate correctly his quote in the Swiss press
  15. As Markus explains in numerous German / Swiss newspapers , he has been offered the opportunity to become involved with other clubs but wanted to get at SFC because of the set up , St Marys, Training facilities and his words " Excellent youth development" In one interview it explains either I have wanted long time for SFC or It took a long time to get SFC , without hearing his German conversation it's difficult to establish what his exact meaning is ... but hey ho he got what he wanted
  16. I can translate it for you if you want where where you guys during French & German lol
  17. It is in French so easier to translate http://www.lagruyere.ch/fr/le-journal/les-editions/2009/20090711/football.html
  18. LOl maybe , well not yet any how
  19. Great interview in the Swiss newspapers today
  20. No more than is already public knowledge and maybe he can't say anymore because he does not know any more other than speculation
  21. Well , according to the Swiss newpapers, which are in German but thats good for me , in which Markus has directly spoken, his comments and quotes have nothing about such influences were discussed by Markus , he quotes quite openly in an interview why he purchased the club ,
  22. No idea , In other swiss german paper he said I'm not a football expert, but this commitment seemed to me very attractive. He continues: There was a unique opportunity. I had to decide quickly.
  23. Makus states that he is not a football expert but a fan, basically the attraction was the professional set up , Ground , Training facilities and excellent youth development system. The fact that he had been linked in the past to other club the purchase of but obviously did not have the infa-structure of SFC and that the price was correct , a modest investment with potential , and if I am right in translating in another newspaper he has been aware of SFc for long time , or it could be it has taken long time , without actually listening to his actual conversation it is difficult to get the gist of his meaning
