https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/20213792.remarkable-road-southampton-fc-new-signing-bazunu/?ref=twtrec Not sure if this Daily Echo article has been posted on here yet? Good read, speaking with people he’s worked with in his fledgling career so far. After reading this article, I’m even more excited to see him play for us. So much positivity about his current ability, potential and attitude. Looks an excellent signing, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough!
-
This sounds quite promising. Would be great for our model to find the talent one step earlier in the chain if possible. In the short term though, could this impact any relationship with City for immediate/near future targets?
-
Former Saint (and Skate) David Connolly talking about Bazunu, 15:09 onwards. On a side note, he seems quite negative about Ralph, which half of our fanbase might agree with atm. Interesting to get an opinion from the Irish on our new signing anyway.
-
That’s a fair assessment, does feel like a big summer for Saints. Hard to not feel a little fearful looking through the fixtures as things stand, following our poor end of season form.
-
Sounds like Henderson would be £20m now and £100k/week plus in wages. Bazunu looks like £10m now, rising to £16m with add ons. Expect his wages will be half of Henderson’s. it’s not just a £4m difference. I agree that Henderson would be, at greater cost, a much less risky option. But Bazunu is the Saintsy approach and Henderson would take a huge chunk of our summer budget and wages.

Make that 2 pens! 😳

Well that’s a preferred angle. I’m going to choose to believe Alex Crook for a change!

https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2022-05-24/retail-online-saints-store-maintenance-southampton-football-club-2022 Official website says store is closed until ‘Thursday 28th May 2022’ for upgrades. Although the 28th is actually this Saturday… Think our kits were announced on 27/5 last year so you’d expect this is to prepare for releasing the new one? If so, not too much longer to wait.

I thought it was quite an odd interview from Blackmore and at the end he said he’s hoping it wouldn’t be the last time they spoke. Left me thinking that he either knows something or has just come to the assumption that now is the time he should leave. Prowsey was quite guarded at the end in his response, understandably I guess.
-
This sounds like Blackmore knows Prowsey is off? Not looking positive.
-
Sounds like Benfica want him to replace Nunez, we might struggle unfortunately.
-
Yeah it will be a really weird position, needing huge wins and city to lose (which is very unlikely), whilst trying to not get injured for a CL final.
-
If City win comfortably at the weekend, I think Liverpool will realise the title is gone and that might mean we face a less motivated opponent next week? 🤞
-
Horrible news. Hope he recovers fully, our recent experiences with these injuries (Sam McQueen and Jay-Rod) did not. VVD seems to have recovered well at Liverpool from an ACL. You worry when powerful fast players get serious knee injuries.

I’d agree with this. Howe has done better than expected but the money cannot be ignored. TWar has rightly pointed out how new signings in particular have contributed significantly to their upturn and goal contributions. The feel good factor is 100% valid too, they now have positivity and are looking up, almost playing to stay in the team as it climbs. It’s an exciting journey now that players will want to be part of. Howe’s poor start shows either the money was essential or it took him 10 games to get his methods across. Either way they will likely finish above us and given the gap we had, I don’t personally find that acceptable.
-
It does look like he was injured until the start of this year and he’s lost his place in the meantime. I think I’d be happy to sign him, potential to improve which suits our transfer policy. Not sure we can attract much better with our expected transfer budget (unless our new owners surprise us this summer). I’m sure we would all prefer to sign a keeper like Henderson but with a £40m asking price being thrown around in the papers this week, that’s not our space.
-
He spent the same amount in January as we sold our club for (yes I know, excluding the debt). We’d spend that in 3/4 seasons? It’s certainly a factor. There’s a direct correlation between that window being open and their points racking up.
-
I thought it was £5M to be paid next season?
-
I’d say so 😇 35 points would have been enough for survival in the last 5 PL seasons. Hopefully we end up closer to 50 points by seasons end.
-
Anyone got a pic or clip of the penalty shout, would like to watch it back?
-
Diallo reminds me of early Schneiderlin, same type of player for me. Hopefully he can reach his level, loved Morgan

Yeah this guy knows his transfers. It’s encouraging we are bidding if we have been in discussions with Chelsea. I doubt we would just randomly be bidding without any encouragement? Perhaps I’m being too optimistic…
