Leeds signed Rodrigo for £27m, club record fee at the time. Due to his relegation clause he is off to a Qatari side for just £3m. That’s a massive £24m hit. We lost less letting Carillo walk for nothing! Other clauses have players of good value leaving on loans too, surely we are better placed than Leeds this season?

If he has to go, would you take £20m plus Downes for Prowsey? I think that’s a pretty good deal for Saints. Has a Hojbjerg/KWP vibe about it but the longer contract should secure us more fee. Just pure speculation, of course!

I’m surprised there aren’t any links to KWP moving on at the moment, our depth at FB is pretty strong and he’s clearly a PL player. There were previous links to Everton and Villa, he’s surely worth at least £20m with his experience, age and 2 years left on his contract? We paid £12m for him as a young prospect. Salisu injury record, perceived relationship with the club, relegation and 1 year left on his contract means we won’t get his full market value. We didn’t with Vest or Pierre though and still got £15m. £6.5m would be an absolute steal for a player of his quality and at 24 still potential to realise.

I’m expecting to lose Salisu, ABK, DCC and Lyanco as a minimum. Leaving us with just Stephens and Bednarek. I’m not sure Simeu is ready to play for us, might be kept for squad depth. I’d expect us to sign at least 2 CBs. We’ve been linked with Edwards from Peterborough, Fonte, Holgate, Wood and Cabango from Swansea. Going to be a big change to CB and CM positions, hopefully we are more solid defensively as a result.
