Doesn’t look like he’s played 90 mins recently for Rennes, lots of cameos off the bench. Looks like he’s absolutely rapid though.
-
We seem set on bringing in a wide forward don’t we?
-
Definitely a gamble, I’d agree with that. He did seem to be our first choice though, so it’s obviously disappointing to see him go to Bournemouth. We will see how he does there soon enough and whether we were right to walk away. Orsic looked terrible last night didn’t he? Offered no defensive workrate (not his primary role tbf, but was needed with Newcastle’s pace in Almiron) and he just looked lost positionally. Didn’t really see the explosive pace he displayed in Qatar either. Very underwhelming full debut but it’s far too early to write him off.

I expected more from SR in this window, as the article says on Jackson. “Southampton are sleeping”. Blind hope that we have some rabbits coming out of the hat in the next 6 days, losing belief though as top targets (reportedly) haven’t worked out, again!
-
So we basically hesitated over £3m and lost the guy we’ve been trying to sign all window to a relegation rival. Marvellous.
-
Does feel like Moffi and Jackson were our top targets and we were outbid for both, plus outbid for wages on Ings. SR are clearly willing to spend but not paying over the odds. Which obviously doesn’t suit the January market and our current desperate position! I suppose the Danjuma and even Mudryk situations show how difficult the window is to complete deals for wanted players. I’m done with Che after last night latest 1v1 miss. He is not good enough to play as a lone striker in the PL. we simply must bring someone better in, even if just a loan, to have any hope.
-
Perhaps an opportunity to bring in a proper striker has presented itself, causing us to cool off interest in Jackson as the money is going there instead? There’s no reason you’d sign for Bournemouth over Saints (unless they are paying crazy wages?). There’s also not going to be a budget to spend €25m on 2 attacking players. Wishful thinking, I know… but we've been linked to Jackson for so long and it’s been dragging its feet for a while. Whether that’s negotiations or perhaps there are other irons in the fire we wanted to try.

Any striker links, all gone very quiet???
-
This is fair, we may yet bring in an exciting CF, so let’s wait until 1/2 before judging the window. It does seem though like £15m and the known entity/proven goalscorer that is Danny Ings was the logical solution to our goalscoring problems though. Tried looking up latest Moffi news on Twitter and I can’t see that WHU’s bid of £25m was rejected. Could they really sign both?
-
Did I mention I was fuming?
-
Fuming. Agree that Ings and Wood strengthen our relegation rivals, although over a full season WHU should be comfortably finishing higher than us with their squad. Does Moffi really want to stay in France then, would appear so if WHU bid £25m and then moved on to Ings? Who is scoring our goals Sports Republic? Sign a proven goalscorer or drop.

Looks like this is happening 😭
-
£10m plus his wages sounds reasonable to get the goals we need… Bring him home Saints!
-
We seem to have a few new links last night/this morning, especially in midfield.
-
Sunderland 😂 that’s an odd one isn’t it!

If we had signed this guy after his solo goal at St Mary’s in preseason this would have been greeted with more enthusiasm. Our predicament does mean this is only acceptable if he’s not the main striker and is one of 2 more attacking players coming in. 14 apps in La Liga this season 2 goals and 2 assists. In 9 of which he played 65 mins or less and only completed the 90 mins once. Goal every 397 mins, roughly every 4.5 games. Has played CF and LW/RW. Transfer Market has CF as his main position, which is worrying if we’re holding any hope for him to sign with another CF. I think Danjuma, also linked with the PL (Everton and Bompey) is the better player. On a more positive note, we would be a fast team on the counter with Orsic and Jackson in the team. Just the question of who is putting it in the net!
-
Lots of ‘The Athletic’ noises about this for quite a while now. Looks pretty likely to happen. Pace and power yes, clinical edge we all want to see fire us to safety, perhaps not. As I said yesterday a front 3 of Orsic - Ings - Jackson would be exciting to watch.
-
Looks like Forest are going for Wood, who seemed a popular choice amongst some posters on here when the window opened. It worries me that this team of individuals is going to click, we are already 5 points behind them.
-
Interesting… I think the Hull striker is more appealing than semenyo, who’s only scored 5 goals this season.
-
The absence of Moffi from the Athletic article is perhaps another indication that one is dead in the water for us? Correction: it’s at the end of the article and says unlikely due to Bompey link and that we had previously been knocked back
-
Given our situation and that we haven’t been able to replace Ings since he left. I would take him back with no hesitation whatsoever. Semenyo is a new link from the Athletic and it seems Nicolas Jackson could happen too. Orsic, Ings, Jackson - that’s quite an exciting front 3!
-
Might be one where we failed early in the window but things can change as deadline day approaches. He likes to sign for us on deadline day IIRC. I’m sure Villa’s activity would give us a clue, they won’t be getting rid of Danny without a replacement. Looks like he’s 3rd choice in Emery’s system behind Watkins and Bailey. Danny would be first choice king of the scummers here.
