Delph picked up a bad injury in City's match today....

We lost a lot of players. Had a half decent side by the time the season starts. I remember going to watch us beat Crewe 2-0 at St Mary's & it could've been 7 or 8. Here's the team that day: A pretty decent side on paper is that! - But of course, the vultures still had time to come in for the better players. We lost our way and slowly but surely as you don't get promoted and time dwindles away you lose more & more players and the side gets weaker & weaker.

Adrian is right about the manager being key. Quite often I can look from afar and be pretty confident that teams managed by Rafa / Fat Sam / Bruce / Houghton etc will be in the promotion mix in previous years. A manager to help navigate and infuse the remaining players we'd be left with leaders, size & experience of that level.

Not sure i would remotely trust the decision makers. We'd roll over and sell a player the minute he started performing.

PALACE EYE BABACAR? Our Sky colleagues in Italy are reporting that Crystal Palace have made a bid for Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar. Palace manager Roy Hodgson has made signing a striker a priority in the January window as his first choice option Christian Benteke has scored just once in 16 games. Babacar, 24, has scored four times in Serie A this season after netting 10 last year. He earned his first call-up for Senegal in March last year.

It's the only Saints Podcast I've listened to. It started off well & has gotten better as the weeks have gone on. Honourable mention to the episode with Billy Sh*te on who manages to get through the episode without swearing!

Sounds like we will end up with players way down our shortlist, which we will pretend were No.1 choices. Bit like the manager.
